A throwback to the early 2000’s, this new YA romance series will have you longing for the days when Blockbuster was the coolest job in town and varsity letters were prized possessions. Back to when Friday nights were made for football games and sleepovers with the friends you’d do anything for.
Read the entire sweet YA romance series:
Book 1: Stage Kiss by M. F. Lorson
Book 2: Leah’s Song by Daphne James Huff
Book 3: Chasing Love by Kayla Tirrell

I listened to the audible version. This is a sweet story. It is probably still in the PG range, though there is a reference to hotel rooms after a dance that might prompt some questions from my elementary-age child. The references to popular things from the early 2000s were cute.
I haven’t read the first book in the series, but I have read/listened to the second one. I would actually recommend reading this one as the second in the series as the events in this book took place before most of the events in Leah’s Song. There are zero spoilers in this book for Leah’s song, but there’s kind of a spoiler for this one in Leah’s Song. Chasing Love could also be read as a stand alone, although I think the characters in this book may overlap more with the first in the series. I can’t say for sure, but it seemed like Chasing Love contained references to events in the first book.
Kaye Anderson did a really good job with this one, especially with high school/college age characters.

An amazing heartwarming sweet high school romance. This engaging storyline had me hooked with relatable, good, clean interactions with the perfect amount of suspense to keep your intrest. This is a wonderful standalone with in a series that I will definitely be checking out to get some other characters fun romances. I voluntarily listened and reviewed this ARC that had great storytelling thru narration that really brought depth to story and bringing the characters to life.
This was a fun and easy read.
4.5 Wonderful Stars
Chasing Love
Mountain Creek Drive, Book 3
By: Kayla Tirrell
Narrated by: Kaye Anderson
I loved everything about this book, the characters, the storyline down to the setting, a throwback to the early 2000’s when renting videos at Blockbuster was a thing and cell phone use a novelty. Kayla Tirrell skillfully created a realistic & relatable story of how it was like for many back when they were in High School. Wonderful character development here, adolescents struggling to find themselves and eventually grow in to their own. This is the first book I have read from this author and it will not be my last. It is part of the “Mountain Creek Drive Series” but can be enjoyed as a standalone. I had not read the 1st two books and do not feel like I missed anything in this story. I recommend this book for any adult, young and old, especially great for those feeling a little nostalgia, it really captures the essence of time. Kayla Tirrell thank you for the great read!
I listened to the Audible edition, Kaye Anderson does a wonderful job narrating the story and bringing the characters and story to life. She performed the voices of all the different characters, switching back & forth effortlessly keeping the story in a perfect flow Thank you for the great listen.
A Moral Dilemma Fuelled Read!!
I enjoyed Nicole & Chase’s book!!
Nicole is Amy’s (Amy won Homecoming Queen in book 1) best friend. They’re both shy, quiet and usually get overlooked at School. Amy’s win was a fluke!!!
Nicole is out with her dog running, during summer, when her dog runs off. She catches up to him with a running shoe in his mouth, chewed up A hot guy she realises is Chase, who was a year older than her, walks to her only wearing one running shoe
This is the start of Nicole, & her brilliant best friend, coming out of their shells slowly, getting noticed and finding something they love and are both actually good at!!! It opens their horizons & friendship circle too.
Thanks to a naughty dog called Meatball this girl gets to learn a lot and grow!! This is an adorable will they – won’t they coming of age romance. Enjoy, I know I did

I somehow missed that this was going to be. throwback to 2003. I was mildly amused by all the references my “older” self caught and actually understood. (I say older…meaning older than Nic but young enough to appreciate the pop references.)
Chasing Love is a cute story. Its definitely a young adult story. It’s told from the heroine’s POV so doubt filled teenage musings are a requisite.
I had a bit of trouble getting into the book because the recording comes off a bit tinny with an almost echo. I’m not sure how or why but it drove me nuts. I was also unused to this particular narrator’s style. There were lots of pauses where it seemed like it wasn’t necessary.
Overall, it was a cute story.
