Chasing Him is a full-length standalone novel that’s filled with angst, sexual tension, and plenty of forbidden temptation! Let Kennedy Fox take you to the South for a hot, captivating adventure that’ll surely leave your Kindles on fire!John Bishop isn’t your typical single dad.Reserved, impatient, and utterly clueless.Running the family’s bed and breakfast has many perks. Working long hours, … has many perks. Working long hours, picking up after the guests, and hearing couples going at it all night long aren’t any of them. Hooking up with girls who come to the ranch for horseback riding lessons? Best perk of them all.
That is until a baby shows up at his doorstep with a note claiming it’s his. Growing up on a ranch was anything but easy, but raising a newborn is proving to be the hardest task he’ll ever tackle. Leaving the bachelor life behind, his only priority is to hire a nanny who can teach him a thing or two about parenting—except he doesn’t anticipate her being gorgeous and quirky with an unhealthy football obsession.
Mila Carmichael has many talents—making balloon animals, creating origami art, and remaining in the friend zone. Often seen as one of the guys, she’s struck out more times than a rookie baseball player.
Seeking a new adventure, she flies to Texas to visit family and is offered a position she can’t refuse. Helping out a new dad should come easy to her, considering her past experience, but what she doesn’t anticipate is him being an attractive Southern temptation.
But that’s only the beginning.
While growing close to his family and falling madly in love with the baby girl who’s stealing their hearts, things are bound to get complicated. Everyone knows not to mix business with pleasure. That means no late movie nights, no stolen glances, and definitely no kissing behind closed doors. Too bad the universe has other plans—one that’ll threaten taking away the main thing that binds them together.
A singe dad/nanny romance—This is book 3 in the Bishop Brothers series. Each book features a different brother and can be read as a complete standalone. HEA guaranteed!

All hometown charm and southern drama, Chasing Him is a big-hearted romance!
For new readers, note that the Bishop Brother series is a spin-off, interconnected standalone series about the four brothers of Courtney Bishop from the Checkmate Duet series.
John Bishop, the runner of the Circle B Bed and Breakfast and my sweet, yet unsuspecting Johnny boy. This man is truly a walking talking conundrum. Just when you think you have him figured out, another chink in his armour is revealed and we start to see the real him. The one that’s been burned by love in the past. He may be the more composed twin out of the two, but he’s easily provoked, especially when it comes to Mila.
Mila Carmichael is the hot and tempting nanny who loves football, can hold her own against Jackson Bishop, and is secretly a little minx. Not only is she the one who tests every ounce of John’s restraint, but she’s the ultimate bestfriend to any guy which has kept her in the friendzone previously. A place she’s not in a rush to return to. So it doesn’t matter how attracted she is to her new boss, she’s not crossing those lines. Plus, this job is temporary just like her being in Texas. Except the relationships she’s forming with the Bishop clan are running deep and taking up a permament residence in her heart.
Now, remember those many layers of John I hinted at? Well, the main one happens to be how vulnerable he becomes for the main girl of Chasing Him. Maize Grace Kensington-Bishop. Our sweet baby girl Bishop.
Watching John take on the role of father was so swoony. The instant connection between him and Maize was heartening and a major part of the novel that Kennedy Fox depicted easily. But John wasn’t the only one with an immediate link to Maize. Mila’s bond with Maize went far beyond that of a nanny. Throughout the story we not only witness John fall in love with his daughter and Mila, but Mila with him and Maize as well.
A love affair that’s slowly woven throughout the story, Chasing Him is heartwarming, alluring, and a slow burn that felt full on! With the same tone as the series predecessors, Kennedy Fox continues to set the benchmark high with each addition, making the Bishop Brothers series the go-to series for a community just as tight knit as the family and cowboys hotter than Texas!
Note: That ending scene!? What have you done Jackson Bishop?! And that Keeping Him synopsis!? Kiera, Kiera, KIERA!!
So, remember I said Evan’s book was my favorite? Well, I can add that Evan and John are simply my favorite… Period. Chasing Him, the third book in the Bishop Brothers series by Kennedy Fox was everything I wanted and more!!
Cute babies galore, especially sweet Maize #myheart. Watching #DaddyJohn be a father warmed my heart. He instantly fell for his baby girl #sniff and though he struggled at times, he never gave up.
Ugh, then when Mila comes into the picture… Hot Damn! Angst and forbidden and feels!! I couldn’t get enough! John is very attracted to her to the point there are times he goes all alpha and threatens to punch Jackson in the throat lol . But being the man John is, he doesn’t want to pursue it because she’s Maize’s nanny, but mostly because he’s afraid of the outcome if things don’t pan out. Then we have the feisty and wonderful Mila. She’s been friend-zoned for so long, she doesn’t want to go through that again. Plus, she’s only in Texas for a little while.
When these two finally give in and realize they can no longer fight the attraction, sparks fly!! #Hot . Chasing Him was kind of a slow burn romance, but it didn’t feel that way because it had so many supporting characters to carry the story along with the main characters. Of course, let’s not forget those moments of deep emotion, southern drama, and the perfect epilogue. This book was so good and proves that KF is just good like that! Now bring on Jackson’s book. I’m interested in seeing how that will turn out #hotmessexpress
I have only read one other book by Kennedy Fox and found this one to be just as good as the first one I read. I like the Bishop Brothers, their dynamic is interesting and I loved the premise for Chasing Him.
John Bishop runs the family Bed and Breakfast; it can be a thankless job, working long hours. When a baby is discovered on his doorstep with a note telling him that he is the father he has no idea what to do.
Mila Carmichael is hired by John to be the baby’s nanny and hopefully help him learn how to be a parent.
Mila is used to be being put in the “friend” zone but she is extremely attracted to the dominant and gorgeous John Bishop.
John is shocked how hard he falls for his baby daughter and things get even more complicated as his feelings for Mila blossom.
What will happen when a threat to their current happiness rears it’s head? Can a new relationship survive the distance or is it doomed to fail.
I love the camaraderie and relationship between John and his brothers. The chemistry between John and Mila is so scorching that you can almost feel the flames. I love Mila, she is a feisty, smart and caring woman.
The secondary characters were as entertaining as the main, particularly Jackson and Gigi. I am anxious to read more about this family.
5 stars!
AUDIOBOOK
Chasing Him is the third book in the Bishop Brothers Series. I have been anticipating John’s story and the author duo, Kennedy Fox did not disappoint. This one has all the feels! The story begins with John finding out he is a father to a daughter he had no idea he had. Her mother has just lost her battle with cancer and he is lost and doesn’t know where to begin. Good thing the Bishop family are the definition of unconditional love. They are always there for another and everyone steps up to help John with his new baby daughter.
Mila lives in Georgia and is looking for a change and during a visit to Texas Mrs. Bishop runs into her at a church fundraiser and convinces her to come out to the ranch and meet Maize to potentially become her new nanny. Mila fit right in with the Bishop clan. She is fiery and feisty. She is serious when she needs to be and is energetic and fun other times. I couldn’t get enough of the banter between John and Mila as they get to know each other. John is the most serious of the Bishop brothers. He is the twin of Jackson and initially comes off as quiet and reserved compared to rest of the Bishops but deep down he has a humongous heart. He runs the B&B and works hard. The moment he meets Mila he gives her a hard time thinking she is another one of Jackson’s hookups but she quickly tells him she is there for the nanny position and they agree to give it a trial run. Mila’s relationship with Maize was beautiful. I adored it. The way she opened up her heart to John and his daughter and jumped right in immediately I loved. She doesn’t allow John to get away with his broody nature with her and as their relationship developed I fell hard and fast for these two. John encouraged Mila to go after her dreams even if that meant leaving Texas. Such a selfless man! SWOON!
Jackson’s long awaited story is next in Keeping Him and I am dying to read it next.
As always Aiden Snow was a joy to listen to and Vanessa Edwin voiced Mila perfectly making this an enjoyable listening experience.
Chasing Him was EVERYTHING!!!! Mila and John were perfect. It had so many laughs and sexy moments but some serious. I could not put this book down!!!
Once again the Bishops are a family you don’t mess with and boy do they corral for little Maize. I loved that in the previous book we saw a little of John, Jacksons quiet, reserved and sexy twin brother. We see a side of him nobody sees and then a part of him that will make any little girl lucky to have him as a father. The attraction between these two is like one giant book of foreplay making you wonder how much longer John can deny the attraction. Not only do we see John and Mila but the whole family and what they been up to. All in all this is a series that will make you believe in love, happiness and the strength of family. Loved it.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
John Bishop is handsome, gruff, and reserved. He isn’t your typical single dad, having met his daughter when she was dropped off on his front porch in a basket. Even with the help of his brothers and parents he’s wearing himself thin, so when his mama sets up Mila Carmichael to be his new nanny he can’t say no, even if she tempts him in ways she shouldn’t. While Mila’s watching little Maize, Johns running the B&B, but in the evening all bets are off. He doesn’t anticipate how much she’d teach him, how much he’d enjoy her company, and how fun it would be to tease her about her love of football. They fall into an easy routine, but neither can deny the attraction between them. But Mila is only there for the summer and when it’s time to return to Georgia John has to decide if he tells her the truth about her feelings or if he lets her go.
I was really excited to read Chasing Him, John has been the brother I haven’t gotten a feel for with the previous two novels in the series. He’s fairly serious and reserved, even if he knows how to drink with the best of them. We’ve seen him work the B&B, we know he goes to all the same events as his brothers, and we know he had a girl around once, but we don’t know much else. He was a pretty big mystery for me. Mila Carmichael, like in the previous series, is new to town, single, and not looking for a man to be in her life. She’s a bit younger in age and life experience compared to the other characters, but it made for a new perspective on the brothers. She’s also spunky, hilarious, and seems to have a heart of gold. Anyone, including all the characters in the books, can see these two are meant to be. Their romance, though, is definitely of the slow burn variety, taking both ages to recognize that there’s something more than just lust brewing between them.
All the Bishop brothers are the same when it comes to their heart, STUBBORN. Chasing Him wouldn’t nearly be as entertaining if it weren’t for John constantly denying his feelings, falling for his brother’s baits, and always focuses on everything else but the truth. I loved that we, once again, get so much time with the Bishop family and that this time there was a small, separate storyline about Maize, her mom, and her maternal grandparents. It did read a little slower than I expected and the end was a bit predictable, but I remained engaged from start to finish, loving how John and Mila did finally come together and how they learn the value of going after a dream and embracing the changes that life throws your way.
Chasing Him is book three in the Bishop Brothers series, while they technically could be read as a standalone I wouldn’t recommend it. Each story follows a brother on their journey to love, even if they’re not quite ready for it. The books also allow you to catch up with the brothers from the previous story, giving us a glimpse at the future each brother has found after finally meeting the one. I love these books, they’re lengthy and the romance moves at just the right pace, but I’m certainly sad there’s only one left.
I have to say, this is my favorite of the series so far!
I do recommend that you read these in order. After reading the previous book, I had an idea who Maize’s mom was, and I was right about it. It broke my heart that that had to happen, but this is such a great story. Mila and John are amazing people and are perfect together.
There were a few times that I wanted to punch Jackson, just like John did.
I don’t want to say too much and give anything away. I’m excited about Jackson’s story. I’m not sure how I want it to end with Kiera, I am rooting for them, but I also think he has had soooo many chances and just was too scared to take the chance.
You will love these Bishop boys if you read this!
Talk about waking up and your life literally changes in the blink of an eye (or the opening of a door)!! John, sexy, quiet, and total opposite to his twin Jackson, is in for a ride of his life when his brothers open the door and his baby is sitting there in a car seat. This adventure is somewhat predictable, but throws some serious curve balls at you!! I love the Bishop brothers!!! OH Jackson is up next… biting my nails with anticipation!!!
John Bishop is the SWOONIEST, SEXIEST, MOST RESPONSIBLE Bishop YET! Oh how he made my heart swoon, sigh, melt and flutter. And Mila, she is my most favorite heroine too. She is smart, beautiful, caring and so very likable.
Chasing Him had me enamored from the very start. It was hot, charming, romantic, fun and enjoyable. I loved how responsible John is and he became even more so after he became a father. He claimed my heart in a little over 2.0 seconds and is STILL lodged deep in my heart, even days after finishing this scrumptious book. This book had MANY of the feels. I got lots of smiles, lots of giggles, and some tears out of this romance. I already want to dive back in Chasing Him and not come out again until the very end!
Chasing Him gets a SWOON WORTHY FIVE BIG CHARMING STARS!
These ladies never ever disappoint. And these Bishops just keep getting better and better. With each book, and each brother I fall deeper and deeper into their world and fall harder and harder for each brother and this whole magnificent family and group of characters. I loved them all fiercely. But I’m getting ready for my baby, Jackson Bishop. Brooke & Lyra give me all the angst. After the events in this book I ain’t expecting an easy ride, so bring all the angst cuz this girl will live in it. I loved the fact that this being John’s book, we also got a lot more of Jackson and a much better insight into who he is and what drives him to do the sh*t he does. I was chasing those little bread crumbs throughout the whole book.
When it came to John and Mila oh lord those two, well three, were so sticking cute! I loved watching them get into their routine, and getting to know one another and Mila fitting right in with the rest of the Bishops. And I lovedddd the way they wanted each other since the first moment but fought it and lusted after one another from a far. Slow burn romances are torture, it’s a fact but I kind of like the delayed gratification a lot in novels. It gives the characters a chance to build a solid friendship/basis for their future relationship, and these two, these two formed the best relationship there was. I loved watching them be there for each other, and being cute funny friends. And oh my god I swooned so hard watching Mila and Maize, those two girls were destined to meet and Mila was honestly the freaking best and cutest with kids.
And then of course there was our newbie daddy who fell for his sweet little girl as soon as he knew she was his. I loved watching John become a dad and working hard to be there with Mazey, and doing everything he possibly could for her while still juggling his job. It was just amazing watching him with his baby girl. I swooned a lot, basically throughout the whole freaking book. And then besides John, there’s was Jackson, watching Jackson loving on his niece was epic. God, I want his book so so bad. Not too long now but the wait will be a little painful because I’ve been waiting for this one since the beginning and now I want it more than ever. Things don’t look good for him at all 🙁
Chasing Him just might be my new favorite in the series. I just loved the way Mila and John came to be. I loved their relationship and I adored little Mazey. This book was just beautiful. I love getting more and more of all the Bishops, and getting to know everyone a little bit more and how they all engage together. And we even got a little bit of our Courtney and her Drew (my babies).
This family will forever have a piece of my heart. I won’t ever be ready to say goodbye not even when that means I’ll get my most anticipated book in the series. Bitter-sweetness it will be.
Kennedy Fox wrote another masterpiece in John’s story. They brought on the sweetness, the want, the love, the angst and turned it into the perfect story telling that is this book. I think with each new book they bring out their writing gets better. I just love how these two come together to create the funniest, sweetest and most amazing stories. I hope they’ll never stop giving me books this great, and written by them as the wonderful duo they are.
Every journey with the Bishop clan has been a joy for me to read. John’s story tore my heart out at times then lifted me right back up with all the love that the Bishop clan gives to each other. No one expects a baby to be left on the porch for John, he is the straight-laced, by the book brother. Jackson, his rebel twin, well, we would expect a baby to be his but it’s not. Experiencing John embracing fatherhood because that is who he is but at the same time Mazie, his daughter, stole his heart so he had no choice. For this man to finally accept that he needs help and can’t do it all alone, well, that was a huge moment. When Mila shows up as the nanny, gotta love Mama Bishop, well, you know all his rule playing is going to be bent. Mila, she has her own journey to travel after her best friend a crush for several years drops a girlfriend in her lap. She is truly stunned which pushes her to spend time in Texas visiting her grandmother while she waits to hear about a teaching job. Mila’s love of children and her passion for teaching were wonderful to experience which becomes John’s saving grace. The beauty is how they help each other reevaluate their current goals. Will they find a path together? I loved every heart-stopping, funny, sexy moment while also getting to interact with the entire Bishop clan. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
Chasing Him by the writing duo known as Kennedy Fox is John Bishop’s story and one I completely devoured. It was sexy and funny and had a lot of southern charm with a sexy single father.
John Bishop runs the bed and breakfast for his family. Not the most glamourous job, but he enjoys one perk, hooking up with the woman who come to the ranch. He is not looking for anything permanent after all. So, imagine his surprise when a newborn is entrusted to him, claiming to be his. This happily single man needs to change his way and care for the newborn, quickly.
Mila Carmichael went to visit family in Texas and finds herself instead finds herself helping a newly single father and his baby. She’s got this. This is what she does. But what she never expected was her response to him and his beautiful daughter. I loved Mila! She was so sweet and caring.
It was great seeing how John’s family stepped in to help him. But he soon realizes he needs more permanent help. Enter Milla. There is a bit of the forbidden with Mila being the nanny, but as Mila and John spend time together, you can feel their chemistry with every word you read. But Mila has a future she has planned and John is trying to do what is right.
I a huge fan of Kennedy Fox and have been for a long time, yet they continue to surprise me. I absolutely fell in love with John, Mila and Maize. These three were definitely something special. I loved their story so much and now cannot wait to get Jackson’s book.
4.5 stars! Read and reviewed for Reviews From The Heart.
Happy reading!
I love a single dad romance. I also was glad to revisit the Bishops.
John and Mila’s romance was a bit angst, mostly because John was so dead set on not crossing a line. He drove me crazy. I think this book has been the most frustrating one for me so far. There was so much back and forth as John and Mila tried to figure out their next steps with baby Maisie.
I listened to the audio book and thought the narrators did a great job. I was so glad when they finally were on the same page and got their HEA. I also thought John was incredibly gracious especially after the way the grandparents came at him.
This book was sweet romantic, sexy, with funny as well as somber moments. I’m looking forward to Jackson’s book.
Out of all of the bishop books this was by far my favorite! I thought I couldn’t like one more than another because each one has a different dynamic. I was definitely wrong! Usually this type of dynamic is written the same way except in this book. Fantastic!!!!
John finds an infant left on his doorstep with a note from one of his short lived flings telling him that he is a father to sweet Maize. Maize’s mother passed away from cancer, while she didn’t care to tell him that she was pregnant she doesn’t want Maize raised by anyone other than him. So John is now a struggling single dad to a two month old baby girl. Behind John’s back Mama Bishop hires Mila to be Maize’s nanny. Mila just graduated from college with a degree in education to be an elementary school teacher. With her experience with her large family and her love for all things babies she eagerly agrees to be Maize’s nanny. What neither John or Mila expected was feelings.
I enjoyed John and Mila’s story. They were fun and cute and I loved Mia’s spitfire side to her. I loved how they communicated together (that is always so refreshing since authors love to use miscommunication as a poor plot device) and I adored how they both recognized each other’s dreams and passions. While I adored Mila and John, I felt that the whole reason Mila went to Texas was quickly resolved/brushed under the rug and that irked me a bit. But this was another great addition to the Bishop Brothers series that I am beyond obsessed with.
I enjoyed this book. It’s a single dad romance with a nanny. John Bishop is handsome, gruff, and reserved cowboy. He isn’t your typical single dad, having met his daughter when she was dropped off on his front porch. The swoon potential is high with John Bishop. Mila, the woman who works for him fits right in with the Bishop family. John and Mila have insane chemistry and a natural rapport with each other. Their journey to their HEA is so heartwarming. You’ll be smiling after you finish reading Chasing Him.
Chasing Him is a single dad/nanny romance with a little southern drama and brothers who like to hassle you any chance they get.
For John Bishop, he is known as the “good twin”, while his identical twin brother Jackson is the “bad twin”. Though John can hang with his brother, he is still the calmer and more practical brother. Which is why when he suddenly becomes a single dad to a baby girl who was dropped off on his door step, everyone was a little shocked, but being his family they immediately took her into the family and supported him. Though after a couple months he needed to get back onto his normal work schedule and still try and get his baby girl on her own, but he just didn’t want to admit he needed outside help. SO his mama being his mama took matters into her own hands and hired his a nanny. He thought nannies were suppose to be old like the older ladies at church, not what showed up at his house.
Mila Carmichael is a great friend but is always put in the friend zone, which is where she is when she is about to tell her best friend how she feels when he suddenly drops a bomb on her and she backs out. Going to spend a few months with her grandparents while waiting to hear something back from her teaching applications, she is hired to nanny for a single dad who needs help with getting his newborn on a sleep schedule and help watch her while he goes back to work full time. She didn’t expect him to look so mouth-watering though, seeing as when she showed up to his house he was dressed in only a towel.
John and Mila try and fight their attraction towards each other until it becomes too much and they can’t stay away from each other and her love for his little girl just adds to his attraction to her. But her time in Texas is slowly coming to an end when she gets a call for a teaching position back in her home town.
I won’t give it away, but man oh man, the last few chapters had me grinning like a cheshire cat and feeling so giddy. lol.
This is the third book in the series and is Johns story. John is classed as the quiet twin always having his brother for comprtion so when his life os turned upside down everyone try’s to rally around like the close family they are but help is still needed. I steps Mila a young just qualified teacher to help out. When pushed together could another Bishop brother be about to give up the single life. I love this family and finding out about all the brothers and what they get up to. An exciting family values series that will have you hooked couldnt put it down.
Book is amazing! I love everything! Can’t wait to read many more books from you!
