USA Today Bestselling author Claudia Burgoa brings you an emotional and inspirational story that will tug on your heartstrings. The first time I met Oliver Tanner he was five years old. I was four. That day he was entrusted to my keep.He was as large and loud as a church mouse. That day I taught him how fireflies were magic with the persistence of a person. That’s what I loved about them. No … person.
That’s what I loved about them.
No matter how far they strayed,
they remembered where they came from and who their family was.
After high school, he joined the army and left Knox Ridge.
Years later, the town had changed.
My dreams were shattered.
We had nothing left.
I had forgotten all about the magic of the fireflies.
Until he came back to town.
Everything about him was comforting.
He brought some light to my darkness,
But I knew the light could only last for so long.
Fireflies only stay for the summer.
He had outgrown our small town.
It was time for me to stop chasing fireflies.
Don’t miss out on this stunning, second-chance friends to lovers romance.
This full-length novel was originally published in the Cards of Love collection as a novella. It has been revised with additional scenes.

Who is Oliver Tanner? How old is he when we meet him for the first time? Where has he moved to? Who are Kaitlynn and Paige? What do we learn about the Tanners? Wow, this romance story has all sorts of different bits to it. Childhood, High School, military, and second chances. Have tissues at the ready, I needed them several times. Especially during some of the letters that we had an opportunity to read. The ending of the story was so cute! I loved what Oliver and Kaitlynn had been told about fireflies. This story took me back to chasing them myself when I was younger.

This is a grrat story. I loved these charaters abd devoured this book
After reading the novella it was great to be able to get stuck in to the full length version of Oliver and Kaitlynn and boy is there a lot more frustration and emotion you get to go through. seeing there life spanning from when Oliver first met Kaitlynn when he was little and how they bonded, got close, did stupid things to ruin a friendship and try to build things back up was at times excruciating and good lord did a want to shake sense into Kaitlynn and slap Oliver especially for his behavior before leaving Knox Ridge. There are characteristics of them both that irked me but I also loved it as no one is perfect in every way and we all have our own Firefly to find in life and a chance of them staying.
Chasing Fireflies is my favorite book by this author! I absolutely loved this second chance, friends to lovers romance! It was beautiful! It was emotional! It was epic!
The perfect blend of friend to lover and second chance romance.
Oliver and Kaitlynn were always friends until they weren’t. Flash forward twelve years and the connection is still there. They could feel it instantly..heck I could feel it instantly.
Oliver will stop at nothing to prove to Kaitlynn that he is home for good and his heart is her’s.
Kaitlynn is struggling with everything and has decided Oliver will be like everyone else in her life and leave.
Claudia once again pulled at all heartstrings and gave me all the feels!
Chasing Firelies takes place in a small town called Knox Ridge. The story follows the Blythe and Tanner family, it was light, sweet, and a bit angsty, childhood best friends, second chances, and you can’t help but fall in love. Kaitlynn and Oliver were so loving, and I’m so glad they got their chance to explore their feelings for eachother. It wasn’t easy for them, they had to overcome some hurdles along the way. Secondary characters were good too, I really liked Paige and well not mention the one I didn’t care for. I enjoyed reading this story.
Chasing Firefiles by Claudia Burgoa is the story of Kaitlynn and Oliver, and it was a beautiful story about how 2 kids start a friendship and then with time developed in something more. When they start growing up together Kaitlynn’s family took Oliver and his mom under their wing and they feel like part of that family, they continue to be friends until they are adults and Oliver decided to go to the military.
Kaitlynn has her own dreams to be come a chef and have her own tv show, and she is working to make it happen. but then something bad suddenly happened and she finds herself getting back to her hometown and manage their family restaurant and forgetting about her dreams. This is the way that Oliver found Kaitlynn and he notices she is not the same happy girl he used to be.
Oliver plans to help Kaltlynn to trust in him again and make her dream come true, but that wont be easy because they will have to pass some difficult moments so they can have their HEA. If you want to know more about this beautiful story you need to read this book ASAP.
Congratulations Claudia for another amazing story!
Chasing Fireflies was a cute, sweet friends to lovers story. Well, I guess it wasn’t all too sweet. I definitely got upset at a decision Oliver made. But the rest of it is pretty sweet. Oliver and Kaitlyn become friends when Oliver and his mother move in next door when they’re 4 & 5 years old. They stay friends until he make a dumb decision (the one that upset me) in his late teens. He leaves town shortly after said dumb decision and doesn’t come back for several years. When he comes back and sees Kaitlyn struggling running her families business he sets out to help her and get the girl he has always loved. I loved grown up Oliver. He had his head in the right place and was ready to right his wrongs. I also adored Kaitlyn. She was an amazing girl and woman. My adoration of her never wavered. I will definitely be recommending this story to my reading buddies.
I loved this story. Oliver and his KitKat were best friends as kids, and have lost touch while Oliver served overseas. Now, he has returned to his hometown, just when Kaitlynn needs him most. It’s an awesome second-chance-ish story.
*This is the new, expanded version of Cards of Love: Knight of Wands*
This new release (with a totally hot cover!) by Claudia Burgoa is an updated version of her Cards of Love series contribution- Knight of Wands. With much more added content, the story takes on a new feel as Kaitlynn Blythe and Oliver Tanner’s childhood friendship is explored in depth and gives the reader a new understanding of how much their lives were and still are so connected.
Becoming next door neighbors at ages 4 and 5, they spend their days, nights and every spare moment in each others pockets, sharing the good, the bad and the ugly that life throws their way. Their families are so close, their bonds so tight, a lifelong friendship that nothing could ever break, or so they thought back then.
Many years have past and everything has changed in both their lives. Some of these beautiful connections have been severed by loss, changes, disappointments that are hard to let go sometimes, but the best of times, those happiest of memories still remain, locked in their hearts.
Years later, while Kaitlynn is still in limbo, back in town trying to save her family’s restaurant, a Knox Ridge legacy, Oliver has been absent. He left her, became a military man and she hasn’t seen him since. Letters were written and cherished, then dwindled, years passed on by and their friendship grew cold.
What will happen when their paths inevitably cross again? Can this old friendship, which was always looking more like unrequited love, be saved and nurtured?
If you’ve read the Knight of Wands, you’ll want to see where Kaitlynn and Oliver’s story began and if you haven’t, get yourself a copy of this friends to more story that will take you for a ride through this small town romance and grab your heart.
An early copy of this book was generously provided to me and this is my honest review of it.
She’s his firefly! Floved!
Oliver & Kaitlynn meet as children when he & his mom move in next door. She’s from the beloved Blythes and he’s a Tanner. He’s painted with the old family rep despite only being a young boy. Except Kaitlynn, or as he comes to call her Kit Kat, instantly becomes his person. They spend their childhood as bff’s and denying their feelings are more as they grow older. After being away from home for 12 yrs with the military, Ollie comes home to a broken Kit Kat. The story of how they both find their happiness is full of feels. Have a tissue handy because you will need it. Tears of sadness and happiness. This small town romance is heartwarming, passionate, and tragic all at once. Fantastic. I received a review copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Kaitlynn and Oliver what a beautiful story!
Kaitlynn is a chef and Oliver is a retired military man with a business degree. They are old friends and have kept in contact over the years through letters. It has been twelve years and now they are back in the same town. Kaitlynn is struggling to keep the family diner afloat and Oliver needs fulfillment but once he sees KitKat he thinks that he may need something else entirely !! Kaitlynn has somehow lost her dream and Oliver may just be the man to help her find it ! Loved it !

Chasing Fireflies by Claudia Burgoa is a contemporary, friends to lovers, second chance romance told in first person, dual POV. Told in two parts, the past and the present, it follows the relationship between childhood best friends, Ollie and Kaitlynn.
After several years of no communication, Ollie and Kaitlynn are reunited and he’s determined to pursue her romantically. But can she trust him? Can she forgive him for past mistakes? Or is it just too little too late?
Overall, I enjoyed the story. I really liked Kaitlynn but had a harder time connecting with Ollie. As close as he was to Kaitlynn and as much as he cared about her, his behaviors did not ring true and his reasons did not make sense. This made it difficult for me to buy into him as a believable character. Even so, I was still rooting for them as a couple and was happy with the way things turned out.

I loved everything about Chasing Fireflies!! We first met Kit Kat and Ollie in Cards of Love and I was so excited to hear we were getting more of their story! I really liked the timeline and progression of this book. It painted a better picture of events that took place in the past that effected their future. This book also elaborated on just how close Kit Kat and Ollie were growing up and I loved that! If you love small town and friends to lovers this book is for you!
Such a cute, sexy, sweet second chance romance by Claudia Burgoa!! I never had a chance to read this when it was part of the Cards of Love collection so this was a sweet treat for me. Loved the characters and the storyline.
Chasing Fireflies by Claudia Burgoa was a sweet friends to lovers novel that will hold your interest from beginning to end. This is Oliver and Kaitlynn’s story. These two have known each other since they were small. The story takes us on a journey from the moment they first met and follows them throughout the years. Although they lost touch I loved seeing them reconnect again and rebuild what they once had.
Claudia gave us some well-developed but flawed characters and a flowing storyline with this novel. It’s a story about friendship, love, loss, hurt and reconnection. As with all Claudia’s books, this novel will evoke a range of emotions from you and give you all the feels.
There was some drama and a bit of angst and I loved it all. This was a heartwarming well-written love story and I would highly recommend it to all lovers of second chances and friends to lovers romance.
