My boots aren’t made for walkin’ they’re made to run . . .Most like to call me emotionally absent. I’d like to think I’m just smart. Heartache is something I won’t have twice. Burn me once, shame on you, but burn me twice, shame on me. Love destroys a person. I decided early on emotional attachments were something I needed to steer clear of. Hookin’ up—that’s something I can do. I was raised by …
I was raised by the toughest, the emotionally shut off. I was raised by cowboys. Ranch hands and Daddy taught me everything I know.
Since I was old enough to walk I’ve been one of the boys. I can rope and ride with the best of ‘em. I know how to work by the sweat of my brow. I’ve been drinking grown men under the table since I was sixteen. I can flirt my way into a man’s bed with ease. And I push away like a pro. But let him look at me the way he does and nothing makes sense.
Fisher Austin—the college quarterback I met at a Halloween frat party. He tried to kiss me. Football players are off limits. My own personal rule. But every turn he’s there. Mutual friends make staying away difficult. He makes me question things. And that’s something I hate.
Finals week—home free. Three weeks. Daddy’s ranch. A summer that would change everything.

Started with the 5th book, now gonna read the entire series, love it
I didn’t finish this book and don’t intend on finishing it. The sex scenes are steamy but the heroine is annoying. She got cheated on back in high school and is STILL broken up about it! Move on with your life lady! Then you have the hero who doesn’t mind that she treats him like crap and it this closet freak (didn’t see that one coming). But the book is SO LONG for this to be the only tension in it. I didn’t finish it but she’ll probably get pregant (since the girl the guy who cheated on her in high school did, which is why she’s all traumatized and she keeps telling the new guy that she’s on birth control every time they have sex) and then keep treating the hero like crap. Boring!
Two stars for the concept!! This book was infuriating to no end because of Karsyn. I understand pain and how it can fester but dear lord she was the queen of festering. Her anger was her crutch. And over what a heartbreak that happened in high school. Fisher kept giving her chance after chance and she just kept keeping him at arms length while taking the love and comfort he offered. Now of course she realizes her mistake but not before the author writes about useless descriptions about her surroundings and going on detailing her feelings and flashbacks. Everything was repeated. She at least repeated 5 times that her first love in high school broke her heart and cheated on her with a cheerleader without using a condom. Then a lot of the book was kinky sex with love mixed in. I finished this book by skipping anything that wasn’t dialogue because honestly this book could have been shorter if the author withdrew on the excessive descriptions.
I absolutely loved this book. I fell in love with the characters in every way. She had been hurt and held on to it. She was convinced her screwed up self could never have a real relationship. When one is set before her she struggles in every way. He is just so in love, but it doesn’t mean he’s a pushover. There’s love, there’s kink and lots in between. Definitely worth picking this one up
Chasing Fate by Charisse Spiers
Let me start by saying this book will be on my list of best reads of 2018. This was my first book by Charisse Spiers and once I finished I immediately went and purchased the rest of the series.
I was totally blown away by how many emotions this book brought out in me. I absolutely loved Karsyn and Fisher their push and pull , give and take banter will have you laughing, crying, screaming, and wanting to shake some sense in them especially Karsyn. She’s jaded when it comes to relationships and love every since her heart was shattered and stomped on by her first love back in high school. Now she’s on a mission to dull the pain by sleeping with nameless one night stands. She got her love of animals especially horses from her mother even though she lost her when she was just a toddler. Her dad raised her the best way he knew how to be tough but kind. Fisher appears to be a player and she wants nothing to do with him but things aren’t always as they appear. He will do anything to convince her to take a chance on him even working her ranch. Their chemistry was off the charts but their journey was full of bumps along the way. I love when she asked him why her and he told her
“I waited for a girl like you. A girl that’s capable of fighting me as hard as loving me. Challenging me as much as supporting me. Fucking me as much as making love to me. A girl that has a mouth on her. Is wild. Never backs down. A girl that makes life an adventure and not a death sentence. A girl that can’t be kept in a box. A girl like you.”
Oh and Karsyn father will totally steal your heart. His tough love speech was the bomb! A father’s love is priceless!
5 are not nearly enough!
