I am always looking for authors new to me , and when I came upon this book, I knew I had to give it a try.
This first book in a series about four siblings, centers around Izzy Harper. She was a prima ballerina in NYC but an injury brings her back home where she’s looking forward to opening a ballet school. She’s dealing with the loss of her career, and the boyfriend who left her when she got injured.
Tanner Ross is a single Dad, who adores his daughter and when she begs him to take her to the dance school opening, he can’t refuse.
The moment Tanner and Izzy meet, the attraction is immediate. But with a child and a new endeavor as well as both having been hurt by love, the road to their HEA is not smooth.
But what happens when an offer comes Izzy’s way? Will Tanner and his daughter once again be left behind?
Truly a wonderful story about family, hope , new beginnings and second chances in love.
This is an author I will continue to follow.
Nancy is always one of my go-to small town romance authors – but she seriously knocked it out of the park with CHASING DREAMS! I loved this one so much.
A average story. Very steamy bedroom scenes but little storyline of their relationship out of it. Both are sweet and charming characters but just not much to connect them.
A romantic contemporary read! Steamy but not too. A realistic story about a single dad and the ballerina he falls for. It’s a great bath/beach read.Chasing Dreams Nancy Stopper
good read
Loved the characters in this book. Showed how you should never give up on your dreams.
Great Story
Tanner was a single dad with a daughter who he loved dearly, but he worries about all the girl things she might want to do. He sees a sign for a new fan e studio opening up and he knows that his daughter would love it. Izzy is opening the studio with her best friend after recuperating from a knee injury and surgery. When she meets Tanner and his daughter she know it is something.
A single dad disillusioned with love after his wife simply left because she “couldn’t be a mom anymore” and an eight-year-old daughter who has to come first makes giving a second shot at any type of a relationship nearly impossible. That’s Tanner’s lot in life. Plus, he’s always tied up with the kids at Jason’s House. Then he meets Isabella.
A newly single and disillusioned ballerina whose career ended suddenly due to an accident has come home to open a dance studio and still keep ballet in her life somehow. That’s Isabella’s story. She doesn’t have time for a relationship and even if she did, she’s been burned badly and has no desire to trust someone with her heart ever again. Then she meets Tanner and Hayley.
This is a solid story. It’s not overly dramatic, there are no surprises really, it just moves along as you would expect it to. There’s nothing that made me stand up and cheer, but neither was there anything that made me want to scream in frustration. If you’re looking for something you can’t put down you probably want to keep looking. But, if you’re looking for a more relaxing story this may be for you.
Typical formula romance. Nothing special, however.
The first half of the story seemed like so many others in this genre. A handsome guy (Tanner) falls for a beautiful women (Izzy), but they both have trust issues due to past relationships. However, their physical attraction is immediate and scorching, so they spend the first half of the book in a constant state of lust, unable to keep their hands off each other until they finally get together in the first steamy sex scene.
After this “same old, same old” first half, the second half surprised me, grabbing my interest and emotions until I was practically in tears toward the end (happy tears). No spoilers here–just enjoy the fast ride to a perfect Happily Ever After ending!
If you like a sweet hero, a plucky heroine and plenty of steamy sex (that episode of phone sex is super hot!), this one’s for you. Kudos for flawless proofreading, too. A books without typos and grammatical errors is rare these days and much appreciated by fussy readers like me.
5 stars
I received a free copy of Chasing Dreams by Nancy Stopper and this review was given freely.
Tanner who is a single dad and a social worker for troubled teens meets Izzy who was forced to leave the NY ballet because of injury. This is a well written and heartwarming complex and steamy romance filled with personal conflict, work related conflict, self image issues, love and family set in a small Pennsylvania town.
This is the first book I have read from Ms. Stopper and I enjoyed it very much. Her writing style has an easy flow to it, even though it packed quite a punch in the many steamy descriptions throughout the novel.
The protagonists, Izzy, the injured prima ballerina/dance school owner, and single dad, Tanner, social worker/youth center administrator were inviting and engaging. Their backgrounds are filled with drama and issues, yet, throughout this book, I could feel the growing emotions and commitment to one another, and between Izzy and Hayley.
Sprinkle in a cute, wise, young daughter and an adorable puppy. Mix in secondary characters that you really want to know more about and you have the recipe for a successful new book series. Kudos, Nancy. You have a new fan!
When an accident knocks prima ballerina, Isabella Harper, off her feet and into retirement, she goes back home. Instead of dancing on the stage, Izzy opens a dance studio which allows her to help young dancers follow their dreams. Tanner runs Jason’s House, a place for troubled teens. He is also raising his daughter, Hayley, alone. When Hayley wants to take ballet lessons at Izzy’s studio, their previous chance meeting begins to turn into something more. Tanner is scared of a relationship because he is scared the person will leave but he cannot fight he feelings for Izzy. Izzy has issues due to her previous partner constantly downing her appearance. Can two hearts struggle through their emotional issues to begin a relationship? When Izzy is offered another chance to fulfill her dreams, will she chase that dream and give up another? A steamy romance about forks in the road and deciding which to take. Love the new series!
Izzy Harper is back in her hometown Cedar Hills, after a very severe injury in her knee, during a rehearsal in a New York’s dancing show.
Tanner is been in Cedar Hills for a few years with his eight-years sold daughter Hayley after his wife left him. When they met in the opening of Izzy’s dance studio opening they fell an instinct connection. But can they fight their past demons and have a future together? A wonderful love story.
What an awesome start to a series. Nancy has once again set her characters in a small town. Tanner and Izzy have sparks from the first meeting. Red hot sparks. You won’t be able to put it down.
What more can you want from the first book of a new series than the promise of all the wonderful things that wait ahead and this book absolutely delivers. It’s sexy and complex, heartwarming and marvellously real. Carefully constructed characters that will make you cheer them on. Definitely one click worthy.
Chasing Dreams is the first book in the Harper Family series. Which wins out? Ambition or love? Tanner has been burned before. He has no desire to be burned again. Izzy’s dreams are shattered by an injury. When a second chance comes around, will she take it or make new dreams? I really enjoyed this story.
Love single dad romances!! Tanner, single dad is wonderful to his daughter, Hayley and does not want her heart broken again, so no relationships for him. Until he meets Izzy, a ballerina who has returned to town from the big stage to open her own studio. Neither are in a place in their lives to start a relationship but can they deny the chemistry.
This is the first book in a new series by Nancy Stopper and I thoroughly loved. Loved the family of both characters, the charm of the small town and the sexy romance between Tanner and Izzy. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I highly recommend.
Nancy Stopper speaks to the dreamers of the world. Chasing Dreams is a voice of hope in a world that can often feel hopeless. Tanner and Isabella are the perfect example of how one person can make a difference. She’s lost her way. Injury has sidelined Isabella’s promising career as a ballet dancer. He’s lost his faith. One broken heart is one too many. Tanner wants to be happy and he wants his daughter to be happy, yet despite his penchant for encourages others to never lose heart in navigating the maze of life, love is not in the cards for him. Or is it? Using realistic circumstances, Chasing Dreams inspires and teaches. At the heart of Isabella and Tanner’s story is the circle of life. It seldom turns out the way we want it to, but somehow despite the twists, we end up in the right place.
This is the first book in a new series from Nancy Stopper and I can’t wait to see where her stories take me and the people I’ll meet along the way.
Cedar Hill is the hometown of Isabella Harper, a retired prima ballerina with a prestigious New York dance company. Izzy has returned to Cedar Grove to open a dance studio after a catastrophic accident ended both her career and the relationship with her partner-boyfriend.
Single dad Tanner Ross moved from Philadelphia to Cedar Hill to provide a better environment for his young daughter. After his wife walked out on him and Hayley, Tyler has walked carefully through relationships in fear that he might further harm his daughter who was deeply affected at the loss of her mother.
Neither Izzy or Tanner is in a place to start a relationship, yet Haley is the catalyst that brings them together. Cautious about romance, both worry how their relationship might harm Haley but their attraction to each other is sizzling. This is a great story of love and trust.
