This series keeps getting better and better. Mitzy Moon is a fun character that just keeps finding trouble of some sort. She goes away to a ski lodge and while there she stumbles across a body in the snow. Yesk is worth the read but I would recommend that if you have not read the rest in the series, you start at the beginning.
Mitzy Moon has become one of my favorite fictional characters! The orphan turned heiress is snarky and vulnerable and still figuring things out with the help of a whole community. Just because she happens to run into dead bodies on a regular basis doesn’t mean she’s a bad person, and she does manage to “help” Sheriff Erich Harper solve the murders. I love how she’s learning to use her paranormal powers too! Such a quick, fun read! Waiting anxiously for the next one!
Okay I mean it truly when I say this series seriously just gets better and better!! Each book improves on the one before.
Mitzy is really starting to find her feet, and feel at home in her Bookstore with the super secret super swanky apartment home, she has friends, and more importantly family, granted Grams may not be able to physically hug her, after all she is a ghost, but she can still help Mitzy (though she still needs to work on the whole “if my lips ain’t moving, then it’s not for sharing!” mind reading overshare!
In this visit to Pin Cherry Harbour we start with a Fundraiser which Mitzy is hosting in the Bookstore on behalf of her dad’s girlfriend Amaryllis. Including a silent auction with all proceeds going to Pin Cherry Harbour Animal Shelter,
In the morning Mitzy discovers the book Saducismus Triumphatus, the very book that friend/mentor and lawyer Silas Willoughby was able to use to give Grams her Ghostly afterlife is missing. The book is not only worth a lot of money but in the wrong hands could be dangerous! Mitzy reports it to the Sheriff but we all know she won’t be able to help herself but investigate herself.
And on the topic of investigating herself…. one of the suspects, Rory Bombay(who is an antique dealer and has asked about the book on numerous occasions as well as flirting with Mitzy) has invited Mitzy to join him on a weekend getaway at the Fox Mountain Ski Resort, (the very same weekend get away that she had been outbid for at the silent auction)
And so the fun begins! (Not THAT kind of fun! Mitzy insists on seperate rooms AND paying for herself) Lets just say Skiing does not go quite the way she planned, and her new burgeoning powers seem to be on the fritz just when she needs them the most! When her theft investigation goes from that to an old mystery and a very new murder!
I cannot tell you how much I recommend this book and series! I do highly recommend you start with the first book, for many reasons, one you get to know each of the characters just a little bit more with each book, each character grows a little more, but Mitzy the most, going from an orphan who was brought up in the foster system, a lonely low paid barista who was struggling to get through each day, to now being a loved family member, with a dad and gran, friends even, good friends from Twiggy who works for free in the bookstore, to budding investigative photojournalist Quince Knudsen. A fashionista with a wardrobe bigger than her old apartment and money in the bank not having to worry about paying the next bill.
Not only has Mitzy grown and the town of Pin Cherry Harbour but with each book Trixie Silvertale grows as an author, the books are well written with tight plots, each character comes to life as you read them, even the town comes alive, the mystery is always well thought out, with the occasional red herring, and clues you don’t realise are clues till much farther into the book, I find myslef going, AAAaaa thats is why XYZ which some authors do well as is the case here but it can be done badly where it is obvious that what we are reading is a clue, so to be able to do so is very clever and excellent writing.
Though these books are classed as “Cosy Paranormal” if the “Paranormal” bit puts you off, I ask you to please give this a try, because the murders are solved using investigation rather than spells and such, It is such a good series it would be a shame to miss it!
This fifth book in the Mitzy Moon Mysteries series by Trixie Silvertale was another winning paranormal mystery with the usual gang of characters all getting involved in solving this puzzle. The characters all fit into this series so very well that it would be hard to imagine them not being there. And the story flows along, with the usual detours and sidetracking Mitzy’s stories are known for. Once again there are the fun and entertaining exchanges between Mitzy and Ghostma about fashion, reading thoughts, popping up suddenly, etc. And there are increasing hints of Sheriff Eric thawing just a tad bit for her to think about going on a real date with him, but then again, maybe not such a good idea. Who knows. I am eagerly waiting for book 6 in this series to be out. This is a voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Hidden Gems Books.
This series is getting better and better. Mitzy always gets mixed up with a dead body and I am glad to finally know the truth about Mr. Bombay. Mitzy is finding out that there is a lot more to her powers than anyone thought. She is discovering she can so much more. Now she needs to find out who the real killer is before she becomes a target.
Rory Bombay is back in Pin Cherry and he has invited Mitzy for a weekend ski break in the mountains, which she accepts even though her ghost ma and Silas are very wary of Rory. He gives her a beautiful charm bracelet which immediately mutes her clairvoyant powers but she does not realize this right away. Then as usual things start happening, it’s uncanny how Mitzy seems to draw dead bodies to her, and her usual sleuthing talents are set to work. She just cannot stay away from trouble and is too curious for her own good. She returns to her home and divulges everything to her grandmother and to Silas who insists on teaching her how to take control of her gifts and responsibility for her newly awakened powers and thank goodness for doing this as he saves her life. This novel provides hilarious light and fun reading as usual. These mystery novels have really grown on me and I always feel that the latest story is the best so far, so I am really looking forward to Book 6 as I love the crazy heroine and the rest of the cast in Pin Cherry Harbor and the romance which is growing albeit it is taking its time.
Mitzy is back and ready for trouble. Rory has won a skiing trip and invited Mitzy for the weekend. On the way he gives her a lovely personalized charm bracelet. The glamorous ski resort looks run down and empty. As Mitzy and Rory go skiing, Mitzy loses control and skis into a dead body.
This is a great series with wonderful characters. I love it and can’t wait for more!
This is the fifth installment of Mitzy Moon’s adventures.
On a skiing weekend Mitzy literally crashes into a dead body. Here begins an adventure mixed with trouble and mayhem as she uses her ever growing powers to solve the mystery and murder.
Along for the ride are Grams, Pye and Silas.
Once again i thoroughly enjoyed reading about Mitzy’s exploits. Trixie Silvertale makes me laugh out loud.
I have also bought and listened to the audible version of Charms and Firearms. Colleen Marlo really brings the characters to life. She makes you want to listen and listen.
Buy this book and you won’t be disappointed.
I chose to read this book after receiving a free e-copy. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.
I read the first four books in this series, and I really enjoyed them, so I was happy to read this book when it was available.
Mitzy Moon seems to attract trouble. She has some psychic gifts, though, that she’s slowly learning to use. They can often get her out of trouble, and I’m curious what else she’ll be finding out she can do.
Mitzy finally has a family since she inherited her grandmother’s bookstore. She’s getting to know Grams in her ghostly form and is finally getting to know her father. The more Mitzy Moon books I read, the more I enjoy the characters. Mitzy is clumsy, smart, and hilarious. Grams is a force of nature and has learned to move things, so she’s now able to communicate via writing with Silas. Silas is Mitzy’s lawyer and mentor who is helping her learn about her gifts.
The one unlikeable character who has been in all of the books so far is Rory Bombay. Mitzy is attracted to him but Grams doesn’t trust him at all. I’m with Grams; I never liked him even when he was giving Mitzy gifts and pouring on the charm. Is it finally time for her to learn her lesson? And then there’s the hot sheriff. He and Mitzy would make the perfect couple…
When Mitzy literally stumbles across a body in the woods near a ski lodge, she’s warned by the sheriff to let the professionals look into it. She hasn’t done so thus far, so I’m sure he knows that won’t stop her snooping. Mitzy has her hands full between having her gifts locked, being locked in a basement, and running into a ghost that’s not Grams. Will she and/or the sheriff find out who the murderer is?
These books are quick and fun reads. Each book builds on the last ones and they’ve become must-reads for me. I definitely recommend Charms & Firearms, as well as the other books in the series. I can’t wait for the next Mitzy Moon mystery!
Charms and Firearms by Trixie Silvertale
book 5 Here goes Mitzy Moon off on a mini trip with Mr. Bombay to ski. Well she was doing ok til she fell fully on top of a corpse face to face . so startling…then Sheriff Eric appears and wonders if she is involved.
She hurries back to her home to talk to her ghost grandmother and Silas but Gramma is gone .
Before she left on trip an old antique occult book was stolen from her Bookstore.
Then she has to learn to control her gifts and powers seriously . Wow good thing cause it saves her life.
The Sheriff is near and can’t make heads or tails of this mystery.
This book just keeps me wanting to read more and more .
Thanks for having such a wonderful Author as Trixie Silvertale to keep you laughing , excited about the mysteries of this series. They are so awesome.
Trixie your really gifted.
This series gets better with every book. The characters are fun and endearing, and the stories are new each time. I definitely recommend it.
Boy-o-boy Moon gets into all kinds of trouble. She is very good at getting away with things most would get to go to jail for. Very good story. The excitement gets tighter and tighter until things go pop. I really do love these stories. They bring excitement and laughter and sometimes it is just what you need. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I loved this book. It’s the fifth book in the series, but I feel you can read any one of them and still understand the characters. The author does a great job of giving enough background information on the characters to understand how they fit into the story, but not too much to take away from what’s going on in the book. I do, however, recommend reading all of them to get the full story and build up of characters and their relationships. You won’t regret it. I am somewhat attached to a few characters and can not wait to find out what happens in book 6. I like that the book was a quick easy read as it was hard to put down. There are no fillers, so the book moves quickly and has plenty of twists and surprises. It is a great paranormal cozy mystery with some humor and excitement. I’d recommend this book to anyone.
Well I am glad we finally get answers about the two people Mitzy has interest in. Mitzy finds herself again near a dead body. She of course wants to know what is going on so she investigates. I still wonder if she is ever going to get her stuff from the hotel. It is always fun to follow Mitzy around while she is investigating. I think her powers helped her big time in this case. I am happy to see Mitzy and Erick moving forward finally.
*I received a free copy of this book via Hidden Gems and am voluntarily leaving a review.*
I so love this series. The characters are all marvellous – even the bad ones. After hosting a silent auction at her book shop, Mitzy is invited by the winner of a skiing holiday at a nearby resort, to join him – separate rooms of course. That friend gives her a gift on the way to the lodge that has some serious repercussions. Whilst on her first ski lesson she plows into a dead body in the snow. She goes home to consult her usual helpers and can’t find the most important one. Things are worked out in that respect, but the case relating to the dead body is no where near solved – and of course she must get in the middle of it. This is probably the best book so far, as so many things are sorted out – one way or another.
Trixie Silverdale continues to shine with Mitzy Moon. In this 5th installment, Trixies bids, but does not win a weekend for 2 at a ski lodge and an ancient tome disappears from the Rare Books loft. Who won the prize? None other than Rory Bombay, the love interest that more than a few people are leery of. Of course, Rory invites Trixie for a weekend away. Of course he showers her with gifts and attention. But what is it about the bracelet Rory gives Trixie? She somehow can no longer call up her fledgling powers.
And, of course there’s a murder. Or at least a dead body. While Trixie is learning to cross-country ski, she manages to plow right into a body, lying frozen under the snow! Sheriff Erick has jurisdiction, but Trixie can’t seem to stop herself from ‘helping’. Along with the dead body, there is still a stolen book, a Gypsy fortune-teller with more powers than anyone knew and a drunk lodge owner with her own mysterious past.
This series just keeps getting better! I’m looking forward to book 6.
As usual, Trixie Silvertale does not disappoint. This is book 5 in her new series. Mitzi Moon continually finds trouble and this story is no different. This is my new favorite series. The storyline is fresh and interesting and hard to put down. She has created the characters so well I wish I lived there and was part of the story. This is a definite must read! It is a highly enjoyable and entertaining read.
Each book in this series gets better and better and once I start the book I don’t want to put it down. This was especially true with this book. Mitzy certainly gets herself in to some strange predicaments and this time it is bigger and better than the last. Loved the book.
At the end of the book, Ms. Silvertale promises to keep writing if we keep reading and I definitely want to keep reading this series! The main character, Mitzi Moon, is so loveable and her inner dialog is so funny that I laughed out loud in the middle of a waiting room filled with people. I love this series and, Ms. Silvertale, I will keeping reading so please keep writing!!!
Another wonderful book by Author Trixie Silvertale. This series of books are so wonderful. Each one keeps getting better and better.
The characters are all so amazing. Love reading these books.
