I enjoyed reading this cozy mystery. Mitzy Moon is a fun character, I love the humor and Mitzy’s clumsiness. I laughed so hard. I look forward to the next in the series.
Wish there were more stars. This has quickly become one of my favorite series. The stories are well written with fun unique characters. I enjoy each visit to Pin Cherry Harbor to see what Mitzi & the crazy cast of characters are up to. I can’t wait to see what happens with Rory. Looking forward to the next book!

I’m so glad that book 5 finally arrived! It was worth the wait! Mitzy’s life is never dull and soon after a charity event, she finds herself on a weekend getaway to a nearby ski resort. Is Rory Bombay courting Mitzy or are his intentions much darker? Suddenly things get much more complicated when when a rare book goes missing and Mitzy falls over a dead body ! Mitzy is at it again! She’s not sure on what yo do this time. This is Book 5 and I hope there’s more to come. This is a paranormal cozy mystery
Edge-of-my-seat good!!!
Away from her new home, Mitzy goes on a cross-country skiing trip. With a guy. And not one I particularly like…
What follows is a rollercoaster of happenings, one after the other, surprise after surprise. Interesting and captivating! Paranormal powers are growing, which I loved! And Silas was impressive! This story was full of twists and turns, things that I never expected, and it kept me on the edge of my seat. Another page-turner!
Mitzy is one of my fav sleuths. It is always fun to go along her journey , she inadvertently finds a murder mystery wherever she goes ..haha. .this time is was while visiting a ski lodge .While she homes in her magical powers she helps solve the mystery. Great characters and always a one sitting read or listen on Audible .
Charms and Firearms is the 5th Book in the Mitzy Moon series by Trixie Silvertale.
I have really enjoyed the first 4 books in the series. I listened to the audiobook by Coleen Marlo and she really brings the characters to life!
I absolutely love the characters in this book, especially Mitzi’s ghostma and Piwackett the cat.
Mitzi comes across another body while away and she heads back to the bookstore to get help from her friends to discover one of them missing!
Mitzi has her hands filled with magic, romance and mystery.
The story was well written and the mystery was fantastic. I laughed out loud and like I said I really enjoyed the narrator!
Can’t wait for the next book!
Listening to this series on audio has been such a great experience. Mitzy’s character is really growing into her role, exploring her abilities and learning that even paranormal talents must be developed through practice and study. A missing priceless book, an old family feud and a vacation weekend that goes haywire all come together to keep the action moving and the reader guessing.
Once again, the narration is spot on. Coleen Marlo is by far the best narrator I have listened to varying her tone and speech patterns to distinguish each character. The residents of Pin Cherry Harbor in Almost Canada feel like family, and the Bell, Book & Candle feels like home. Another win for the Mitzy Moon series!
I received a free copy of this audio book and I am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
Our snarky heroine with a quick wit and running dialogue, mostly in her head, is back in the middle of a murder when she once again falls into surprising snow bank. Creative characters draw you in and keep you chuckling as you once again fall prey to this author’s writing and stay up way past your bedtime in order to finish the book! I can’t wait to see what antics Mitzy and crew get into in the next book! FYI: If you are into audiobooks, this is an outstanding choice as the narrator does a positively wonderful job of bringing these creative characters to life!
Charms and Firearms is the 5th book in Trixie Silvertale’s engaging Mitzy Moon Mystery series. This is my first Mitzy Moon read, but I am just getting started! The characters are great, witty, interesting, and well developed—so fun . As for the story line, there is enough back story given that I did not feel “lost”. The mystery was
fast paced, paranormal, and twisted! I loved it! The next one is waiting, however, I want to dive into this series back at the beginning and watch the characters develop. I was fortunate enough to read this book through Audible with a narrator who knew exactly what tone/voice to take for each character. Her reading brought the characters to life and ramped up the suspense. I highly recommend this audiobook.
Thank you to the publisher and author for an ARC of the audio version of this book. All opinions are my own and not required in exchange. I review books I enjoy so that my friends and followers can enjoy them ,too.
This review is for the audio book.
This is the first book by this author I have read or listened to but it won’t be my last. It is a fun, engaging mystery with wonderful characters and humours situations. I might have joined the series at book five but the author gives you enough background information that it is easy to follow along and you don’t feel like you missed anything, other than some great books that I might just have to make a visit to. The characters are what made this book so magical and I liked the way they interacted with each other, there was of course the helpful interfering ghost, the mischievous cat and a love triangle. The magical element was interesting and I liked how it was used to solve the case and made things more complicated at the same time. Off to start from the beginning.
A silent auction to raise money for an animal shelter goes wrong When one of Mitzy rare books goes missing not long after event. The prime suspect invites her to join him for a weekend getaway and to learn how to cross ski. As they say keep your friends close but your enemies closer she decides to join him to find out what he is up to. A gift has her thinking that she might be wrong, until she returns back to the bookshop for help after discovering a body in the snow. But she doesn’t find the help she needs as she is no longer able to understand her cat and her ghost gran is missing. Can Mitzy work out what is wrong with her powers? And find out who killed the mystery man? First she will have to work out who the dead man was and why everything seems to be connected to the run down ski lodge.
I liked the narrator. She help bring the story to life by giving each character there own unique and distinct voice.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
After a charity event at the bookshop, Mitzy discover that the book that normally resides next to the secret entrance to her apartment is missing. She’s also upset because she was outbid by Rory Bombay for the ski weekend getaway at a local ski resort. She was looking forward to learning how to ski in “almost Canada”. She then finds out from Rory that he planned on asking her to be his plus one. After hashing out all the details, she agrees. Even knowing that he’d given her a cursed ring previously, she accepts a pretty charm bracelet from him while there. After her lesson, and subsequent clumsiness causes her to land face first into a body on a slope, she decides that she needs to discover who the body belongs to. He has no identification but has items on him that indicate that he’s a photographer. Rushing back to her place to ask for some help, she shockingly discovers that she can no longer understand Pyewacket, her Ghostma is nowhere to be found, and she has no connection with Silas. After finally figuring out what might be causing this blip in her psychic abilities, they’re able to get the bracelet off, and sure enough, the bracelet was blocking her. After a chat with everyone, she heads back to the resort and continues her weekend.
In this story, we’re introduced to the owner of the resort and given some of her sad backstory. The resort has gone downhill, and probably won’t be open much longer. The owner is an alcoholic who drinks most of the day away. Mitzy spent time with her, and even took her back to her cabin after she was too drunk to make it home by herself. But things aren’t what they seem and by the end of the story, we learn the truth about not only the murderer, but about Rory Bombay. Hopefully he is finally gone from Pin Cherry Harbor and Mitzy Moon’s life.
We’re now on book 5 and I’m still as addicted to the series as I was when I started book 1. Mitzy’s character keeps getting better, the writing keeps you coming back for more, I still love Ghostma and Pyewacket, and I can’t wait to see if Mitzy and Sheriff Erick end up together.

Mitzy Moon is going on a weekend getaway with Rory Bombay who gives her a beautiful charm bracelet as a gift. But things take a dark turn when they discover a body in the snow while skiing. Mitzy winds up returning to the bookshop after discovering some clues about the dead man and makes a disturbing discovery, she can no longer see her grandmother’s ghost or understand Pyewacket, her caracal, nor can she access her gifts. Will the loss become permanent? Can she solve the mystery without them?
I am loving this series and this book is no exception. Well-written with wonderful characters, this book is a quick, fun read that pulled me in from the start. Mitzy’s growth, both as a person and with her gifts, makes for a great read and I look forward to the next book. I highly recommend both book and series which I suggest you read in order for the most enjoyment and benefit.
Mitzy is again risking her life trying to solve another mystery. Rory Bombay is featured prominently in this book. I love the fact that Mitzy is gaining more confidence in her gifts and special skills. Silas continues to surprise me with his capabilities. I was so happy to see the progress with Erick and Mitzy. I just love him! Pyewacket of course, is one of my favorite characters in this series.
I love this series so much. Every book is so interesting! In this one we learn more about Silas, who I find fascinating. I love Mitzy. I find her flirtations with Sheriff Erick Harper fun. Grams is funny and loving but Silas is the mystery guy. This book he plays a larger role and I’m loving it. He has intrigued me since I met him. I love his lessons to Mitzy. They are always interesting. In this book, though, we get to see more of his personality and wizard skills. Rory is back and Mitzy gets her eyes opened. We meet some new characters too. Brandy who owns a ski resort and a gypsy Anita Nowak who has a connection to Grams. This book is a page turner! There is a lot going on, including a murder and a theft. I can’t wait for the next book!
This book is perfect for those cozy mysteries lovers who enjoy a bit of paranormal. There is a ghost and lots of magic. If this is your cup of tea, then you need to read this series! While each book can be read alone, I would strongly suggest you read them in order. Mitzy has a lot of personal growth and you would miss all the ties that bind. It is all background story but I think knowing how it all unfolds is important to the series. It’s also a lot of fun.
I was given an ecopy of this book for review consideration. I reviewed the book voluntarily. My opinions are based on my feelings as I was reading.
This will be your Favorite paranormal Series. Waiting anxiously for the next one! This series just keeps getting better! I am looking forward to book 6! Such a quick, fun read. I start to read and can not put it down until the end. You will have to love these characters. With each addition to this series, each character unveils even more of themselves, good guys and bad guys alike. Absolutely hooked and anxiously awaiting more!
Mitzy is looking forward to a weekend away with Rory Bombay. What should have been a fun weekend learning to cross-country ski, becomes a murder mystery when poor Mitzy quite literally falls near a body. Solving the mystery, figuring out what is making her newfound powers go on the fritz, learning to be more self-sufficient, and getting closer to Silas, Ghost-ma, and Erick are enough to keep Mitzy hopping. And let’s not forget the wonderful and seemingly prescient caracal, Pyewacket – he makes plenty of feline demands on Mitzy.
Charms and Firearms is the strongest story yet in a really fantastic series. I love the development of the characters. The plot is really moved along in this book – in a super satisfying way, too! Trixie Silvertale skillfully balances meeting the needs of readers who are intimately familiar with the series and those of readers who are picking it up for the first time.
I highly, highly recommend the entire Mitzy Moon series!
Wow!!
Things are really getting good. I love, love this series. I really do want to bv eat at the dinner, explore that bookstore, and meet Pyewacket.
I couldn’t get through it fast enough.
