Lady Catherine Langdon is special, and not because she’s the daughter of a duke. She comes from a long line of individuals born with extraordinary gifts, and she is one of the few that has a variation of all three. On the brink of war she makes a decision that will irrevocably alter the course of her life—love or duty.Asher Rossington, the Marquess of Seabrook, decided at a very early age that he … age that he would not live an idle life. His father forbade him from being a spy for the crown, but he chose to ignore it. Ash never regretted his choice, but wished he could have repaired his relationship with his father before he died. Now with the fate of the world in turmoil he has to make another hard decision—remain a spy for king and country, or go home and honor his father’s title.
The Great War brings Catherine and Asher into each other’s lives. Only time will tell if their destiny is to be together, or if they will ultimately serve a higher purpose.

Intriguing!
I read this as a standalone, so don’t know to what extent the characters overlap with other talebooks in the series. Characters and plot were fully developed within the bounds of the novel and the premise provided a different slant on a rather messy and difficult time in history, the Great War (WWI). Trench and biological warfare came into fierce and bitter play, devastating lives and bodies and inflicting a generation with what we now know as PTSD but was then called, when recognized at all, shell shock. Woven into the intrigue and generous dollops of history (caution, actual actions taken by characters were purely fictional albeit possibly based on reality) is a love story. Pragmatic and romantic by turns, I fully enjoyed listening to narrator Price Waldman’s clipped tones and lovely rolling voice as the tale surrounded me.
I always enjoy a good tale from Brower. I Loved the characters and the endgame plot was one to remember. Looking forward to reading the next installment of this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A really good romance.
Asher met Catherine and was attracted to her from first glance, if not in love with her too. But Asher’s life is about to take a tragic turn… one that catches him totally off guard. When he runs into her, she helps him deal with his grief and both know their lives are going to intertwine. It’s not an easy road for them but it’s so rewarding by the end.
It was an emotional ride along with Asher & Catherine’s romance and life through a time of war. It’s full of angst, pain, passion, and love.

” Charming Her Rogue” by Dawn Brower is a tale that answers …at least for the principle characters …Lady Catherine Langdon and Asher Rossington, the Marquess of Seabrook…what is more important…love or duty. The backdrop for this romance is the turmoil of the Great War…the sacrifices and heroism adds to the telling of two people trying to hold onto love while their world is torn apart by the tragedy of war. An exciting read…MUCH enjoyed..and Highly Recommended.

I enjoyed reading this book . It was quite engrossing wanting to know more with the plot unveiled was hard to putndown.
This is a suspenseful, dramatic and romantic story. Ash is stubborn, chivalrous, brave and caring. Catherine is independent, daring, tough and caring. They met and started a friendship just before war broke out, and turned it into love during the war. There are so many plot twists in the storyline, some good, some not so much. They meet interesting people along the way, and each helps with the war effort in their own way. It’s a peek at history during a horrific time showing that good things can still happen.

I rarely get to read one set in this time period or a good war romance and this was an amazing read! The war kept them apart and brought them together many times. I loved that they seemed to instantly fall in love and that love kept them going through many horrible things. I held my breath many times afraid of what was going to happen with all the characters. The wedding and ending were perfect.
Catherine used her gifts to help people and she wasn’t going to let them go to waste. I loved her right away because she didn’t run from anything and had no problem saying what she thought.
Asher met her at the perfect time in his life. He was determined to help his country and rescue those he loved and cared about. I loved him right away because of how he talked and interacted with others.

This is my third book from author Dawn Brower and boy do I love this one. However, it is my first book of a romance during times of war. Even though this is a fictional book the emotions are so realistic. The title “Charming Her Rogue” does not do this book justice. The story documents the movements, challenges and danger over a period of three years in the lives of two people. Lady Catherine Langdon is the ward of her guardian Sir Benjamin Villiers. He is the secretary to the ambassador from the United Kingdom in France. Living in Paris does not excite Catherine nor does the boring embassy parties and get togethers. She wanted more to her life. Secretly she has been studying to become a nurse. If her guardian found out, he would put a stop to it and forbid her to leave the embassy. Prior to a social event at the embassy she had a vision of two people being assassinated. The pair loved each other immensely but they died. She did not know who they were, where it was or when it would happen. All she knew was that it would come to pass. That evening a handsome young man begins to chat with Catherine. At first, she is charmed by his appearance and hoped to make a new friend. But then he opened his mouth and spouted his arrogant vitriol and that turned her off completely. At the event, it was announced that there was an assassination of the heir to the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie. Catherine recognized this as being her vision. She and Asher knew it would most likely lead to war and it did. During the next few days, she could not stop thinking about him. She came from a long line of gifted people. Many in the past were killed as witches, but they were not. They just had gifts that were used for good not evil. Catherine had a combination of the gifts. She had the three. One was visions or premonitions. The second was that she could see auras and could most of the time interpret their feelings. The third was that she could infuse positive energy into someone who needed it. Some gifts were stronger than others but she was still getting use to using them. Happy to be away from the embassy, she was walking along and stopped at the river. She heard a voice behind her and it was the gentleman from the other night. She could sense a great darkness around him. He was so sad. She touched him and infused him with positive energy and he felt it immediately. She was so surprised that he had felt it and responded like he did. His name was Asher Rossington, Earl of Carrick. His father was the Marquess of Seabrook. That morning he had just received word that his father had died some time ago. But he had been traveling Europe and was not able to receive the post. Now he was the new Marquess of Seabrook. He did not tell Catherine this but she knew something had happened. They kept each other company throughout the afternoon. Both had a wonderful time. Asher continued to see Catherine daily at the embassy. The more Catherine got to know him, the more she liked him. It is safe to say they were smitten with each other. At that time, Asher was on a secret mission with the Earl of Derby and he was to spy on Sir Benjamin Villiers. For some reason The Earl did not trust his cousin Sir Benjamin and Asher was there to find out what nefarious activities he may be up to. But then the war broke out and he felt duty bound to serve his country in some way. What better way than being a spy, which was something he was good at. Thus, began the tale of a wonderful romance between Catherine and Asher during a time of war. Catherine, completing her nursing training, was busy at the hospital tending to the wounded soldiers and Asher was out in German enemy territory gathering intel for the British armies. The story tells of the people they meet and work with and who had died for the cause. It tells of the danger constantly around them. It describes the different emotions going through them at a particular time and place. It explains what they felt like when someone they knew, liked or cared for died. I absolutely loved reading this book. I have never read a book of a romance during wartime. It is a wonderful read and I highly recommend it. I thoroughly enjoyed this story about World War 1. It has great characters, romance and intrigue. She is the ward of the Ambassador and doesn’t plan to ever marry. Then she meets a guy a couple of times but doesn’t know his name. His father died and he was now a viscount. Then the war starts and he became a spy and over the years there was a lot of intrigue, but the ending was great. This is o e of the few books I’vs read about World War I and It was interesting.
