NICO
She serves me coffee late at night when I come around to write lyrics,
but it’s not the caffeine I’ve gotten addicted to.
We’ve got the spark, but she’s the only woman in town
who seems to be immune to my charms.
When it’s time for me to leave for my cross-country tour,
I just can’t imagine not seeing her for months.
So I offer her a job on the road with me.
KAT
Everyone in LA knows … months.
So I offer her a job on the road with me.
KAT
Everyone in LA knows that Nico Todd has a way with songs and with the ladies.
What he doesn’t know is that I would love to let him have his way with me.
But my life can only revolve around one infuriatingly cute guy—
the six-year-old that I live with.
Imagine my surprise when Nico finds out about my little boy
and tells me to bring him and my mom on the road too.
And imagine Nico’s surprise when he realizes my son
is the biggest charmer of them all.
*This is a 79,000 word steamy romantic comedy novel.

Another five-star read from Kayley Loring! LOVED this story! It’s light, sweet, sexy, and heartwarming.
Kat is such a wonderful mom whose world revolved around her son; and Nico, being the star that he is, was used to having every girl he wanted—at least until he met Kat, that is. They have such great chemistry together and their banter was so much fun to read. Nico and Tate were so cute together and I loved that Kat and Nico had awesome people in their lives who knocked some sense into them when needed.
Shane and Willa (the couple from Sleeper) appear in this book and it’s great to see how they’re doing after their HEA. Reading Sleeper isn’t necessary to enjoy Charmer, but it’s also a really good book and I highly recommend reading both!
Charmer is a contemporary romantic comedy written in dual first-person POV. It’s a low-angst standalone that ends with a HEA. No cliffhanger, no cheating.
I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.
Super fun read, this is one not to be missed.
Charmer by Kayley Loring is definitely all that and more. Nico has charm in spades, he has the looks too and is oooh, so sexy with dreamy eyes and a body you just want to eat. I read Sleeper previous to this, it’s about Nico’s sister Willa and his best friend, Shane. Nico and Shane have known each other since they hit the headlines in their own TV show and were huge teenage stars. But, time has moved on. Shane is still a highly sought after actor, but Nico is now a singer.
He meets Kat when he moves to live closer to Willa and Shane. Kat is a waitress who does the late-night shift at his favorite diner. She intrigues him from the outset, but Kat doesn’t succumb to his charm and he’s drawn back the next day, and the next.
He doesn’t even realize he’s falling for when they haven’t even dated or kissed. All they do is talk.
Kat is a photographer/videographer trying to make a name for herself, she only works at the diner because she has a secret, one Nico knows nothing about. Being a single mom is hard, and resisting Nico even harder.
When he asks her to come work for him recording his up-coming tour, she’s thrilled and is eager to accept. But, what about her son, and her mom, whom she lives with.
Nico sorts that out and soon everyone is on tour with him. It’s a delicious, slow slide into secret passion and love. It’s not without its problems, but Nico knows what he is looking for and Kat is IT!!!
Tate and Lou only added to the fun and games.
This was so good! I love Nico and his charm! His resilience for Katherine is oh so good!
I’m so happy my girls Thuy (tweezyreads) & Nadine (bookisflove) got me into this new author. I enjoyed this book so much and it was exactly what I needed for a change!
Kat is on a schedule in life, working late nights at the diner and catching up during the day. She sees Nico and all his handsomeness but deep down she knows he’s off-limits. She must stay focus and continue on her path.
Nico sees Kat and something just turns on, a new view in life, a new someone he needs and wants to get to know. Even though she’s resisting at all turns! Until Nico gives her an offer, hard to refuse.
Will Kat finally realize it’s ok she can also be happy in life and find love?
Can Nico finally convince her and see who he truly is and he’s in it for the long haul!
Kayley Loring strikes again with Charmer! This swoony romance loaded with humor and emotion will have you captivated start to finish. Guaranteed. I already adored Nico from the previous book, but now I’m completely in love with this man. This former playboy did not know what hit him when Kat came into his life.
He went from having no real connections to falling harder than anyone else, both for Kat and her son (who happens to be the cutest little guy ever!) Their slow build to becoming one of the best couples ever had me completely glued to the pages.
5 stars!
OMG, I am so in love with this book! Sweet, fun, dirty, laugh-out-loud funny, emotional and gorgeously romantic, it’s a fantastic rocker romance where the ex-manslut singer/songwriter falls hard for a single mother and her little boy in a chemistry-filled and fabulously functional love story. This story owned my heart from start to finish and I freaking loved it!
My newest rockstar crush, Nico Todd, was previously introduced in Sleeper (another fantastic read) as the older brother of Willa and best friend of Shane. There, he was established as a slutty player, sleeping his way around LA (and the rest of the country while he was on tour). In this book, we meet a new Nico, one who is completely smitten with the waitress at a late-night coffee shop.
“It’s not like I come in here every night. That would be lame. I just think about coming here every night. I think about Kat.
This isn’t me.
It’s not good.
It’s not cool.
But hey, I’ve filled three notebooks with lyrics that vary from shitty to decent and recorded a dozen demos of songs that are basically about having a non-stop boner, so there’s that.”
Kat’s life turned upside down when she discovered she was pregnant after a one night stand. But she picked herself up and has created a good life for herself and her six year old son, Tate. They live with her outrageously hilarious mother, and she works hard to be there for her boy, to the exclusion of all else… and that includes hot rockstars.
But Nico is not easily deterred, and when he learns that Kat’s passion is photography and film-making, he hires her to film a documentation of his upcoming tour. And to make things easier for her, he invites her son and mother to come along as well. It’s a proposition that she can’t resist, and so all aboard the tour bus for a two-month long trip.
“I have absolutely no claim to him, but I still want to come to his shows wearing a T-shirt with his face on it that says I licked him—he’s mine!”
It’s a great set up, made all the more entertaining because of the epic chemistry between Nico and Kat. The sexual tension absolutely sizzles! They want each other badly, but, for very valid reasons, Kat is reluctant to get involved. But nothing can diminish their attraction, and the flirting, teasing, want and longing builds and builds though scene after epic scene, and I was teetering with them on the edge, jittery with anticipation just waiting for something to happen.
“I’m almost there now, are you ready?
Because I’m almost ready for you.”
And was it worth the wait? Hell yes, it was! The romance that inevitably comes is sexy, intense and all-consuming, with lots of laughs, lots of banter, lots of romance and dirty talk, and a whole lot of sexy time! It’s a fantastic reflection of who Nico and Kate are and everything that is between them, and I loved every minute of it as they figure out their new and overwhelming feelings and just follow their hearts.
“I’m a goner. I don’t know what ‘us’ means, and I don’t know if she wants me to be a part of her and her son’s world, and I barely even know what that world is like, but I want in.”
I love seeing a romantic hero fall so desperately for his girl, and Nico absolutely melted my heart! He is absolutely beautiful with Kat, gentle, supportive and understanding, giving her nudges hes but not pushing too hard, and throwing himself out there absolutely and completely for her.
“I’m not exactly the same guy that I was before that first night I met you. I’m not the guy that I want to be for you yet either. All I can say is that I want the chance to become that guy for you. But I don’t know how to show you that if I can’t kiss you or touch you or do all the things that I want to do to you or say all the things that I want to say to you. So what do I do? Huh?”
He’s like an angsty teenage boy and all of my defenses, every part of me is melting. He rests his forehead against mine. I hold his head in my hands. His hands are in my hair. All I want to do is kiss him.
“I don’t want you to not be you, Nico. You’re amazing. I love being with you.”
“Then just fucking be with me.”
And Kat is a fantastic heroine! She’s a great mother who adores her son, she has dreams of her own that she’s working towards She’s strong enough to stand up for herself and do what she thinks is right for her and for Tate, and her concerns about a relationship are very valid. But she doesn’t make Nico work too hard for it, the woman has needs, a dirty mind and a filthy mouth and she more than matches him in the bedroom. Hotttt!
Tate needs his own shout out because he’s a great little character. He brings so much to the story, and pretty much every scene with Nico and Tate together is ovary-melting! Willa and Shane from Sleeper also appear, bringing their own brand of support to Nico in his quest to win his girl, and OMG, I laughed so much at their back and forth! The journal entries are lots of fun, and all of the different elements of the story come together to create something really special.
It’s such a great mix of fun, sexy and emotional romance, and those epilogues left me smiling hugely when I finished. It’s only my second read from Kayley Loring, but it puts her firmly in my auto-buy list.
I loved it! 5 stars!
I received a complimentary ARC – early release copy of this book in Kindle format from the author for review purposes.
This is book 2 in the series about guys in showbiz who find love and this is a character from book 1, Nico’s story. He is the rockstar and older brother of the heroine in book 1 and best friend to the guy in book 1. In this story he has a thing for the local coffee shops waitress.
Kat likes him a lot but she is a college student, single mom and so she thinks he could never be in it for real with her. Its up to Nico, her kid and her mom to show her that it can.
This was a sweet, hot and fun story and romance. I loved all the characters and especially how all in Nico is and how he works so hard to get Kat to fall in love with him. It has a little insta lust as Nico falls fast for Kat.
I love a story of a hot rocker with a romantic heart who falls hard for a single mom. Love Nico but didn’t really feel much for Kat, despite their chemistry and attraction. Tate is definitely the charmer of this story. I fell in love with this kid from the start. The author knows how to suck you into a great story in which you lose yourself for an afternoon. Looking forward to more and going back and reading Shane and Willa’s story.
This was a great place to enter this world, even if it’s not what the author intended! Nico. Oh, Nico. You’re impossible not to love. And Kat, you’re every real mama I’ve ever known, but probably hotter. lol
This whole cast is stellar, the adventure fun and exciting and the love story tremendous! Definitely a recommend.
I wondered about Nico after I read Sleeper and I was not disappointed by reading his story. He’s infatuated with Kat and I love that it doesn’t end when he discovers her son. He extends the invitation to travel with him on his tour to them and her mom and I just about died. How sweet was that?! The story takes on their journey from Kat fighting her attraction to not knowing where they stand but through it all you can’t help but feel their connection.
This is the first book that I’ve read by this author and omg it’s fabulous. If you are looking for a book that is a real romance then this is that book. I must say I really enjoyed reading this book and seeing how this played out. I really like this author writing style and this title and cover is awesome.
Nico is a charmer but can sometimes act like a moody teenager he’s also a great loyal and genuine guy too. He moved to town to be closer to his sister and Shane. Nico has started coming into the coffee shop everyday to see Kat as he can’t stop thinking about her.
Kat is a single mother to her son and lives with her mum and she works her butt of in the coffee shop, she’s also a qualified filmmaker and photographer and is dam good at it too.
Nico is about to go of on tour and he’s offered Kat an opportunity that she can’t really refuse, but will she take him up on it?
(NO SPOILERS).
I really enjoyed reading this book and thought that it was written awesomely. I like the song lyrics and the video chats that are throughout the book and I thought that it made the book even more special. I always love books that have epilogue as I feel like this adds something extra to the story and I love that it’s told from different points of view to.
I am now Nicoholic now to.
I was hooked right from the beginning. I think its a real page turner and this authors work is fantastic.
I will defiantly recommend this book to everyone when it gets released and I will look out for this author works in the future.
ARC provided in exchange for an honest review,
Thank you to the author and publishers for allowing me to read and early copy of this book.
This book is expected to be released 2nd April 2020.
Kayley Loring, you’ve done it again. You’ve written another fantabulous Five Plus Star read that has definitely earned a spot on my Top Five List of 2020. I love Nico and Kat! You’ve managed to create another fantastic couple to rival Shane and Willa from “Sleeper”. Well done you! What makes this book such an incredibly enjoyable, humor filled, sexy times, wit filled read is how well written it is. You’ll read through it gobbling up all the syllables () and all the words.
I love all your words Kayley! Do yourself a favor. Read this book and if you haven’t read “Sleeper” you need to read that too. TBR and enjoy.
Charmer was a cute little love story book. It was adorable to watch these two try to keep it professional and heartwarming to see how attached Nico gets to Tate. There are couple of characters who added comedy to this story and had me laughing out loud a few times. This was a feel good love story and a solid book….definitely worth the read!
5 Star review of Charmer by Kayley Loring
Kayley Loring is a relatively new author to me. This is Nico and Kat’s story with an adorable little boy called Tate.
This was a story that had me riveted from the first to the last chapter. It made me laugh, it made me cry and was an entertaining read.
I fell hard and fast for Nico, he was totally swoon worthy. I loved how infatuated he became with Kat and then with her son Tate; it was truly heart warming.
This is a story of breaking down walls, of taking a leap of faith. It was an emotional and steamy read, romantic and left me with a smile on his face.
I enjoyed Ms. Loring’s writing style and found Charmer to be well written with characters that were easy to relate too.
When Nico offers Kat the chance of a lifetime, will she find the courage to accept and in turn change the direction of her and Nate’s life? One click and find out.
Omg I’m in love with Kayley Loring and her characters!!!!!
Charmer is a book that has all the feels, it’s may be Nico and Kat’s story but for me an adorable little boy call Tate stole the show with his classic one liners.
This book captivated me from the first page to the last line, I laughed, I giggled and I cried throughout this entertaining read. It was everything I would expect in a five star read.
Nico meets Kat in a coffee shop that she works in to makes ends meet and he can’t get her off his mind so he digs a little deeper into the woman who seems to be occupying him 24/7 and he finds out she is just what he needs on the music tour that he’s about to start……
Kat lives with her son and her mum so there is a lot at stake and to be honest is she ready to move her whole family into a tour bus ………
This romance is about breaking down walls, learning to trust and taking a leap into the unknown. It’s a love story with the perfect mix of love, passion and humour and it’s well written with characters you can’t help falling in love with. Classic one liners that only a child can pull off add to this romantic comedy and I urge you all to one click this gem of a read.
I need my own Nico! I am absolutely head over heels in love with Charmer! I love a good rock-star romance and this one fits the bill! AMAZING! Nico and Kat’s (and Tate too) story was amazing! I could not put this book down! HUGE FIVE STARS!!!
I was Floored with how Kayley Loring did such an amazing job with Nico and Kat’s Story, where a Struggling single mom is doing all she can. While wanting a man who turns her on at every step. Charming is what one would call Nico, but that’s not what this is all about, Charmer is about what one woman can do with a look, a laugh, and so much more.
Can Nico and Kat get past the whole No dating customers or will they both be drawn to the Flames that both of them give off to one another?
I was excited about reading Charmer and discover a new author to read.
Normally rock star romance isn’t my thing but I was just so in the mood for a good single parent romance. And ever since I read the blurb for this and it sounded so sweet I just had to get my hands on it.
Nico wasn’t exactly a rock star even if he had previously been living the rock star lifestyle. But he was such a sweet guy and I loved him and his family. I really wish that I had read Sleeper before so I could have gotten a little more background on him and his sister and best friend / brother in law but I’m definitely adding it to my TBR.
Kat was such an awesome character. I loved that she was such a devoted mother but she hadn’t given up on her hopes and dreams. And her mum was such a great character and support. Along with being hilariously down to earth.
Tate pretty much stole the show. He was adorable and perfectly age appropriate and I loved that he had temper tantrums and that Kat appreciated he was temporarily horrible. But mainly I loved watching Nico fall as much for him as for Kat. It was beautiful watching him recognize everything Kat had done and appreciate that Tate was as much apart of their relationship as he and Kat were.
I really loved this sweet book and I can’t wait to stalk the rest of Kayley Loring’s work.
Nico and Kat are so deliciously funny and steamy together. Single waitress mom meets child star turned famous musician. Whee that was a mouth full and a lot of information in one sentence. Haha.
This book has a full cast of characters, keeping my interest high. This read is a touching, traditional storyline that made my heart happy. Kat the mother is amazing and her mother is hilarious, only to be outdone by Nico’s filterless grammie. The quirkiness of several of the characters really made this story. Any scene with grannie had me howling in laughter.
Kat’s son gave a sweetness to this story giving me several ‘awe’ moments. His interactions with everyone filled my heart. For the most part, he truly was a good sport going “on tour” with Nico and Kat.
What a lovely story this is with all the right elements. Sexy, funny, and of course romantic where all here. Happy Reading Everyone!
I loved Nico and Kat. Nico was adorably sweet when trying to woo Kat. I fell hard for him in the first pages and continued to swoon until the very end. I loved the slow burn of their relationship and the friendly banter they had instantly. There were several times I giggled and laughed out loud. Him wooing Kat was great but the love and care he showed Tate made my heart full.
I need more of this group of friends and Grammie, she had me laughing out loud almost every time she opened her mouth.
This book is a total joy from start to finish! Nico, Kat, Tate and assorted grandmothers, had me laughing and swooning in equal measures throughout! A wonderful romcom is always a gift but there are times when this is especially so, and this is just such a time. The dialogue is spot on and even had me laughing aloud in the long queue for the chemist yesterday. Bliss. It is witty, warm, well written and so romantic. I loved it
