NICO
She serves me coffee late at night when I come around to write lyrics,
but it’s not the caffeine I’ve gotten addicted to.
We’ve got the spark, but she’s the only woman in town
who seems to be immune to my charms.
When it’s time for me to leave for my cross-country tour,
I just can’t imagine not seeing her for months.
So I offer her a job on the road with me.
KAT
Everyone in LA knows … months.
So I offer her a job on the road with me.
KAT
Everyone in LA knows that Nico Todd has a way with songs and with the ladies.
What he doesn’t know is that I would love to let him have his way with me.
But my life can only revolve around one infuriatingly cute guy—
the six-year-old that I live with.
Imagine my surprise when Nico finds out about my little boy
and tells me to bring him and my mom on the road too.
And imagine Nico’s surprise when he realizes my son
is the biggest charmer of them all.

This was a beautiful love story. It was sweet, funny and simply wonderful. I definitely recommend this book, and this author.
When I read Sleeper, I was enchanted by the characters, Shane and Willa. They had a lovely story with Nico as a secondary character. Nico is Willa’s older brother and Shane’s best friend. So of course I wanted to know Nico’s story! Now I read his story and I have to say, it’s as charming and lovely as Sleeper! And what’s even better, we get to see Shane and Willa as a married couple and have a brief interlude with the fabulous twins, Summer and Lucky.
I got a better sense of who Nico is in this book. He’s a singer/songwriter, not as famous as Shane but with a very good following. He keeps a journal where he writes every event that happens to him, his feelings about things, etc. He writes snippets of thoughts that later turn into songs. He has a new single called Sleeper that he wrote about Shane and Willa. He’s very close to them, as well as Grammy, his very cool grandmother.
When Nico moved to Beachwood Canyon to be nearer his sister and Shane, he started going to The 101 Coffee Shop because that’s where everybody went. There he meets Kat and he’s immediately enthralled with her. To the point that he wasn’t interested in any other woman after that, and he usually has many opportunities. After one month of waiting to get her attention, they have a thirty second date, as in, the time it takes for Nico to escort Kat to her car. Nico is even more enthralled with Kat but there’s a strange reluctance in her, even though it’s evident that she likes him.
Eventually we find out the reason for her reluctance, he gets her to join him in his upcoming tour as his videographer and we get lots of fun and sexy times, as well as funny as heck moments. The rest of the book is fun and heartfelt, Nico falls in love very early in the book, Kat is more slow and hesitant because her life has been different and she has other responsibilities. I loved reading about life in the bus and between Nico and Kat. There are a couple of laugh out loud moments and many lighthearted moments. Two important hilarious moments are the Toiletgate incident and the fart jokes. Priceless!
I think it’s the combination of deep feelings and lighthearted moments, plus the family moments, that makes this book so lovely and charming. I loved all the characters and the wonderful story!
Bright blue eyes and Cherry red lips, these things were just a couple of reasons Nico couldn’t stay away from the late night diner he frequented as they belonged to the one woman he wanted and the one woman he couldn’t have! It’s in the name, this was a charming story of an unconventional love… two people who couldn’t be more different, one a rock star and the other a single mum. Their chemistry was undeniable, but could they overcome their differences and find happiness with each other. A seriously sweet but DAMN hot rock star romance which will have you swooning for Nico Todd… and falling hard for Kat and her sweetheart son Tate. A definite must read for lovers of anything rock and roll.
So in this one we got the story of Nico, and let me tell you that is perfect sweet, we get to know a lot more about him, and why he is that way, in the other side we got Kat and let me tell you that she complements him perfectly love them as a couple, great way to develop the story and make us fall for them and take us all along. This is a one seat reading is you’ll grab it and won’t let it go until the end, promise.
I love rock-star romances and this one did not disappoint!
Kat found herself a single mom as a result of a one night stand. 6 years later, she has made a good life for her and her son, Tate while living with her mother. She is very devoted to her son and providing for him is her sole focus in life. Kat is working as a waitress in a local coffee shop when she recognizes a customer as an actor from one of her favorite shows as a teenager. She begins to feel a connection with him as he becomes a regular customer of hers but she is determined to not let him be anything more than a customer.
But Nico is on a mission to convince Kat to give him a chance. When he discovers Kat’s passion for photography and film-making, he hires her to do a documentary of his upcoming tour. And how can she say no if he invites her son and mother to come along as well? How long can Kat keep things platonic and professional with Nico?
I loved Nico and Kat’s story! Both are great characters and I loved watching the growing relationship between them. This story is the perfect mix of funny, sweet and sexy. The relationship that develops between Nico and Tate is heartwarming as well. This is the second book I have read by this author and I really enjoyed them both. Kayley Loring is definitely an author I will continue to read!
For the first time, Nico is interested in a woman for longer than a one time thing. She’s the one woman he cannot stop thinking about, and she won’t even go on a date with him! What’s a dreamy songwriter/musician to do? Well, once he finds out her big secret, he invites her to go on tour with him, and proceeds to fall in love with her even more.
Kat was certain Nico would not be interested in her once he found out her secret, so she was really surprised when he invited them on tour with him. She wasn’t surprised he fell so hard for her favorite person, but when she falls for Nico? Yeah that wasn’t in the plans…
Charmer is so sweet, so sexy, and really the best part was the bond between Nico and precocious Tate, with his magic loving ways and his adorable little face. Nico in Sleeper was not nearly as lovable and sweet as he is here in his own story. He’s given up his manwhore ways all because he’s fallen for a sweetheart and her adorable little boy. Can’t get much swoonier than that!
Kayley Loring is my new favorite author. She writes lighthearted, fun, sexy books that you can read and escape in. Nico is the epitome of a book boyfriend, Tate is the best kid ever and Kat deserves all the happiness! So many stars!!!
4 Stars.
I really enjoyed this unconventional rockstar romance. But it is a total fairytale, to say the least. One where not only does our rockstar find the woman of his dreams but a little boy that steals the hearts of everyone he encounters.
I totally enjoyed the slow burn romance but I loved also watching the relationship build between them all as a family. This book is fun and was so enjoyable to read. It’s was full of sexual chemistry that was undeniable but with a whole lot of hesitation from start. It steams from fear of heartbreak but as the book goes on it unravels and the trust shines out in the end.
This book is a huge recommendation from me. I read this book as a standalone but understand that there is a book connected to this one. But I really don’t think it matters what order I read them. As I am gonna go read Sleeper next. Great book

As a fan of rockstar romances there’s much to recommend this book! From its decadently delightful slow burn romance between the main couple, to its witty banter, to a wonderful cast of secondary characters, readers will be quickly captivated. When it comes to heroes too, Nico Todd’s immensely drool-worthy and has come a long way from his first appearance in Ms. Loring’s Sleeper, a book where he lived up to all the typical rockstar stereotypes. Here though he’s a changed man who’s ready to find his HEA. That HEA comes in the form of a single mom who leads him on a merry chase in a tale that will warm the heart and put a smile on your face.
Nico’s at the top of his game, beloved by fans and wanted by all women….all women except waitress Kat though. He’s enjoyed being the player for years but seeing his sister and best friend happy has him longing for that same kind of support and it’s what draws him to Kat every night though she’s not falling at his feet easily. He’s not one to give up however and it’s a slow walk to earn her heart as he helps her make her dreams come true while treating her family like his own. Taking her and her family on tour with him gives him just the opportunity he needs to prove himself to her too. While Kat thought Nico wasn’t the fatherly type, he proved that oh so wrong through his endearing interactions with her son Tate. Tate brought out a softer side to Nico and it showed just how committed he could be to someone, how caring too. He showed just how perfect he could be for her if she just got rid of her preconceived notions about sexy men. With each turn of the page I fell a little more in love with Nico. His big heart shown through at every turn, his self-deprecating manner too, and I enjoyed watching the slow and steady relationship brewing between him and Kat.
Kat’s the ideal heroine, the kind I wish every story showcased. She’s a strong-willed young woman who sacrifices everything for her son Tate, born after a one night stand that left her all on her own to raise him. Being left on her own has tainted her perceptions of men though and it’s part of what has her pushing Nico away so hard at first. His sexiness tempts her mightily though as his charm slowly starts winning her over. He also wins her over by giving her the chance of a lifetime…to make a documentary and photograph life while living it for a change. For far too long she’s put her needs aside to raise her son but she’s now given the chance to do something for herself and it had me cheering her on every step of the way. With each turn of the page Kat and Nico’s romance evolved into a connection full of smiles and sizzling encounters as this group became an unexpected family while traveling down the highway of life.
On a whole this was a romance full of heart and soul, a romance between two immensely likable people who make each other complete. They supported each other as she sees past his rockstar exterior while he gives her the chance to feed her soul through her photography. Just like music fuels his soul, so too does photography for her. Their connection was both heartwarming and scorching, giving a perfect balance that was virtually angst-free in a story that gave me tons of warm fuzzies. Along with this near-perfect main couple were the secondary characters of Kat’s son Tate and Louise, Kat’s mom. Tate’s wonderfully realistic, a mini adult at times while having a tantrum occasionally too, and the reactions of Kat and Nico to these moments were equally relatable. Children normally annoy me when I discover them while reading, but Tate utterly charmed me. I loved the side of Nico that was brought out in their interactions, a side that had him being both a friend and a father figure. These scenes made me smile and endeared Nico to me even more fully. Louise was just as strong-willed as her daughter, a sassy and protective mom and grandma and Nico had to work equally hard to win her over as she was a strong defender of her daughter. Their time on the road saw all of them becoming an unconventional family and I enjoyed the journey immensely as the story wound its way to its cheer-worthy conclusion. With times so stressful right now this is just the book you need as it’s a carefree romance with delightful banter and characters that I’m still thinking of. Though this book stands strongly on its own I’d still recommend reading Sleeper first to get greater insight into Nico’s personality while discovering more wonderfully crafted characters from Ms. Loring!
Nico and Kat were so cute. The blurb really gives you a sense of that this book will entail and I was so glad to find that there wasn’t a ton of unnecessary drama. There was no back and forth, no big fights. Just a beautiful romance that’s perfect for being stuck in the house. I loved seeing the characters from Sleeper, and meeting a few new ones that really helped the story’s pace. They were a great support for our main characters and a funny and cute. 4 star #2OCCJD
I am a Nicoholic
Wow! I don’t normally like famous musician romances, the many many women they’ve been with who keep popping up, but if you are worried about that in this book, let me reassure you, that’s not the way this goes. Don’t get me wrong, Nico is no virgin by any means, but there is something so endearing about him from the very first page, he is the one obsessed by Kat, going to see her every night at her job, hating the nights he can’t be with her and keep coming back when she tells him over and over that they can’t happen.
He’s unrepentant in his pursuit for her, even after finding out the secret reason she’s keeping him at arms length, but as the time for him to leave her gets nearer and nearer, Nico quickly comes up with a plan to take her with him.
Much hilarity and fart jokes ensue, and the heat between Kat and Nico is off the charts. Throw in the cutest 6 year old and lots of other funny friends and relatives and you have got 5 star gold.
I am so happy I gave this new to me author a chance, I didn’t realise this was book 2 when I started it, so I will now be heading to download Sleeper, book 1, just because I need to devour the story of Shane and Willa, you don’t need to have read it first to enjoy Charmer, just like me, you’ll fall in love with Nico straight away, and like his fans, become a Nicoholic!
This was a fun, sexy read!
“The first kiss was the end of me. And the beginning of us.”
The moment Nico Todd steps inside The 101 Coffee Shop, he’s absolutely captivated by his beautiful waitress. However, she seems resistant to his charms. When she finally lets slip some clues that she might not be as immune to him as he thought, he fights hard to make her see him – see beyond his public persona. When he makes her an offer she can’t refuse, he finally realises that maybe he might be ready for more than just a quick fling.
“Mine. It feels like he really is mine, when he’s like this. Like he really could love me. Because I know that I could love him. I’ve always known it.”
Kat Dempsey works hard to make her life work around her 6YO son. It’s been a long time since anyone sparked her interest but Nico has player written all over him. However, the minute she lets her guard down, he manages to sneak his way in, but is she brave enough to throw caution to the wind and go all in with him?
“You’re always looking for the light around me. I’m hoping one day you’ll find it in me too. Because it’s there.”
This story was sweet, funny, sexy and a little bit angsty. I loved Nico and the dynamics he had with his family. I loved his vulnerability and sweetness, and his determination to make things work with Kat. Kat was a woman of strength and practicality. I loved her independence but I also loved how she let herself lean on Nico, as he proved himself to be more than dependable. The whole story was such a great, feel-good read.
Really enjoyed reading this book. Love the story and characters. Single mom romance. Hot Rockstar. So amazing. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
4.5 Stars
Nico’s life was all about who would be the next girl that he would hook up with. Being a famous musician there are always girls hanging around. Until he ends up at a late night coffee shop in LA and he meets Kat.
Kat is the beautiful waitress that he can’t keep his mid off of but she wants nothing to do with him. This was something new for Nico. He spent weeks coming to this coffee shop trying to get Kat to have dinner with him, but her answer was always no she didn’t date her customers. But one night in a chance meeting at a local pub everything changed. Kat decided to give in just this once for one night and take what she wanted from Nico. Only problem was that one night wasn’t enough.
Unfortunately Kat had a secret that she was keeping from Nico. Will this secret having him running for the hills, or will he surprise her even more? Will Kat and Nico be able to make it for 2 months on a bus and keep it professional.

I loved Sleeper so I knew I had to read this one. It’s Nico’s turn and boy was this book so good. I could hardly put it down. I was already anticipating this book, but when I found out Nico’s love interest is a single mom I was hooked. I think Nico surprised many in this book with how much he has grown up,me included. I loved how he is with Kat and her son. Tate is an adorably kid and I love his love of magic tricks. I loved watching Kat finally reach her dreams. It’s beautiful. the chemistry between Kat and Nico burns bright and they have an easy way about them. The humor in this one is another draw for me. This book has plenty of laughs, but it as so much heart and feels. The characters are going to suck you in and you won’t want to come up for air until you’re done reading. I loved catching up with Willa and Shane. I love seeing how their HEA is going. An added bonus for me! I would highly recommend this book because it’s going to make you feel good and right now everyone could use a little of that feeling.
Charmer is the first book by Kayley Loring that I have read. I loved reading and following Nico and Kat’s story with her charming 6 year old son. I found this romantic comedy a delightful story and look forward to reading more from this author.
Ooh boy! I was very quickly lost in Nico and Kat’s journey. This story was such a sweet, emotional and a joy to read. Kat is a single mom, doing her thing. While it’s not the life she imagined, she does what needs to be done that’s best for her kid. Nico meets Kat because of her job and there is a definite chemistry between them. A musician isn’t what Kat wanted and she tried to steer clear of, but the pull between them was strong. I enjoyed watching their relationship evolve and the care and compassion Nico had toward Kat’s son. Her mom was quite the character and their relationship wasn’t easy, but it felt realistic and they had to work at it. I was lost in this read and think you should take a chance on this sexy musician, too!
Nico is a rock singer with a crush on Kat. Kat is a waitress and everything she does is for her 6 year old son Tate. Nico is tempting for Kat but she is worried about her son. I enjoyed reading about the interactions between all of the characters in this story. A visit with Sean and Willa from Sleeper is great as well. A good read.
This was the perfect low angst, high steam and super funny read. Nico was a great hero and even though he hid all his sweetness and kindness under a bus famous persona. Nico knew one thing that he definitely wanted Kat and Kat knew she should stay away but that all changes when he offers her a job and meets the main man in her life, her son.
This was such sweet and sexy book! I loved Nico despite his stalking abilities that bought them together lol. He was such a great character with a heart of gold. He knew that Kat was the one for him and didn’t care that she had a kid. He accepted him just as his own. While I loved Nico and Kat, my favorite character had to Nico’s Grammie. She had so many cute nicknames for him, loved him fiercely and already knew what he was gonna say before he said it. She was just plain awesome! I loved how much Kat cared about her family and Nico. I mean sure she fought him off until he just wouldn’t go away. These two were adorable together and I loved every minute of their story!
