From a secret duo of USA Today Bestselling Authors, comes the first COMPLETE STANDALONE in the Modern Love Series.Who knew sleeping with the enemy could be this fun?Was the one night stand a good idea?Well, no. Probably not in retrospect. In my defense I had just moved back into my grandparent’s house, I’d lost my dream job, and a guy on Tinder had stood me up. It was like life had suddenly … It was like life had suddenly stamped ‘LOSER’ on my forehead.
So when the guy behind the bar started giving me THE look…you know, the one that promised I’d be screaming his name into the wee hours of the morning? When that guy also has the perfect amount of scruff on his chiseled chin, biceps bulging out of his t-shirt, and a cocky grin you knew he’d earned in the sack…when he gives you that look, you don’t bother to figure out what your six degrees of separation are. You jump on that horse and ride it!
Pun fully and completely intended. And accurate by the way.
I fully admit to feeling sorry for myself and acting impulsively, but by the time I’d figured out WHO the bartender was, I was already falling for him.
** Note: This book was previous titled “The Bartender”. Same great story with a fresh new look. **

I’m not sure how long this book had been on my kindle, but I grabbed it to read over the weekend while out of town. I’m sad it has taken me awhile to get to it (assuming it’s been on my kindle awhile). This book showed you the bond between three friends and how they look out for each other, even when sometimes they are hiding a naughty secret. I was very pleased with the naughty factor in this book, the chemistry between Cole and Whitney was definitely high on the charts. This book is great if you want a quick read with some steamy scenes, but is well written.
Another great one by Piper Rayne. I wanted to know what was going on that he just would go off without much details as to where he was going and he was always gone longer that what originally told her. Then after talking to those involved he got permission to tell…the rest of the story. Very well written … as usual. Always enjoy reading their books.
Charmed By The Bartender was a fun romcom romance read! This was funny at times and steamy many times! Enjoyed Whit and Cole’s journey! And Whit’s best friends are a hoot!
Whitney Knight feels like the world’s biggest loser after getting fired and ends up at a bar drowning her sorrows. Which is how Whit ends up waking up in an empty bed at handsome bartender Cole’s place to find a note asking her to leave her number. Whit is too embarrassed to see Cole again so she pulls a runner. Too bad there’s no escape for Whit when she bumps into Cole at her best friend’s engagement party and gets teamed up with him to help with the wedding planning.
Funny, drama-filled, angsty and steamy!
Piper and Rayne are new authors to me. Yes, they are two separate ladies that write together!! (I didn’t know that at first either!!) So far I am loving their style. Charmed by the Bartender is the first book in their Modern Love World Series. It has lots of humor, heartbreak and steam!
Whitney seems to have no luck at all – she recently lost her job and moved back home to live with her grandparents. Not something she is super excited or proud of. After a hard day of job interviews, she runs into an irresistible bartender, Cole. With the influence of one too many drinks, she decided a one night stand was a good idea… Until she realized who he was! Will it be too late for her head to say no, since her heart already said yes?
Whitney and Cole have amazing chemistry! I devoured the book within a couple of hours. It was a sweet and steamy rom com! I am excited to continue to read this series. I can’t wait to see what they have in store for Thalia and Lennon!!
This rom-com starts out funny right from the start with Whitney waiting in a bar for her date that she got by setting up a Tinder account. When she’s stood up she feels sorry for herself so starts drinking and the bartender joins her. Little did she know this hottie isn’t really the bartender. After spending the night together, Whitney can’t remember a thing. But, no worries, she’ll sneak out and never see him again anyway. Nope, didn’t work that way.
The chemistry between this couple was off the charts! While he wasn’t very nice, more of a manwhore, when he was younger, he matured into a wonderful man who knew how to please a woman. I didn’t connect with Whitney at the beginning because she was so ditzy, but once she got over her relationship phobia I liked her. Then I found the situations she got herself into funny. I loved her friends Lennon and Tahlia. Every girl needs friends like that.
I won The Bartender in a giveaway. Aren’t I lucky? If you like sexy romantic comedies, read this book.
Good sex scenes… weak story line
Wonderfully entertaining story!
A super sexy read between the bartender and the woman who stole his heart!
Cole comes from a wealthy, well-known family. He’s the black sheep. Rather than just do what was expected, he chose to follow his passion and do his own thing.
One night, while at his own bar he meets Whitney. She’s well on her way to drinking away her sorrows. They end up going home together and the next day…Whit barely remembers the night. Thankfully he’s gone when she wakes, but he leaves a note behind to ask for her number. She has no intention of ever seeing him again out of pure shame!
Whit doesn’t trust many people. After being let down by every man in her life, except her Grandpa, she takes her independence seriously. She doesn’t want to have to need anybody!
Good thing she’ll never see him again…
This story was full of surprises. Cole and Whit were a perfect, match. Their attraction and slow burn romance delivered! So HOT!!! It was also sweet and swoony! I adored her bff’s! Lennon is a crazy but and will make you both cringe and laugh out loud! I look forward to both Tahlia and Lennon’s love story’s.
Loved the whole series!!! Looking forward to reading more by this author! Books were hilarious & heart warming & great characters & story lines!! Currently looking forward for Single Daddy club books next 🙂
This was an entertaining story told entirely from Whit’s POV. I really liked the writing and loved some parts a lot though I wish there were more of them.
The Story:
Whit has fallen to a low point in her life. She lost her job, moved back in with her grandparents and now a guy on tinder stood her up. What better way than working your way down to the bottom of your whiskey glass? When that good looking bartender starts to chat her up and joins her for drinks, Whit has no idea that she’ll soon discovering who he is and what impact he had on her life. Then she will be regretting this night she’s now enjoying a little too much.
Thoughts:
This story started out really good and had some really fun scenes that I loved but even though it was well written I felt that a few things were dropped too soon in this story instead of letting the characters work them out properly.
Even though Whit was on a low in her life she was a strong and independent woman. I really liked her character which is rare because I often don’t like female characters – I don’t even know why; they are often bitchy and arrogant. But Whit was a really lovely character; I enjoyed her story a lot and loved how she got up again after being knocked down.
Cole was easy likeable with his charming and sexy self. He was underestimated by a lot of people and I loved that he didn’t let them dictate his life; he was determined to make his own way.
His reputation as a womanizer didn’t last long because his charm and hot looks got me wrapped around his finger. Cole was such a sweet guy that I couldn’t even imagine him changing woman more often than his underwear.
There was a scene that I loved in particular (at the restaurant – it was so funny!) and the rest of the story was overall nice and entertaining with a good reading pace.
I liked the secondary characters and best friends of Whit a lot and I’m really excited that they get their own books which I can’t wait to read.
Charmed by the Bartender was my first read by Piper Rayne and OMG it was amazing!! I can’t believe that this book has been sitting on my kindle for months and is just now being read!
Whitney is a girl who is independent and scared of getting her heart broken. And after meeting Cole, who instantly knocked her socks off, her fears became even more real. Unbeknownst to Cole they have a history which is making it pretty difficult for him to land the girl.
The sexual tension is through the roof in this enemies to lovers romcom and it is not one that you want to miss! Thank you Piper Rayne for such a wonderful story, I can’t wait to dive into the rest of the epic work that you ladies created!!
Pour me another! Nothing like a hot hunk bartender and Cole is exceptional and swoon-worthy. No wonder Whitney had to go for it. This is a cute, funny, sexy romance with high heat. These two are on fire. After the underwhelming first few chapters the story took off with a great plot and a steamy love story. Can’t wait to read more Modern Love.
This took a few chapters to really get past the almost teenage banter and into the meat of the story and once it did I couldn’t put it down. The plot intrigues and the characters begin to develop into people you really want to read about. And of course, there’s no denying their chemistry which does not require a Bunsen burner to ignite the pages.
I loved the characters. The story was wonderful. I love happy endings! Couldn’t put it down!
Whitney Knight is just down on her luck. She’s just moved back home to live with her grandparents after losing her job and she’s having a rough time getting back on her feet. When she gets stood up at a bar by a potential hook up, she takes up the hot bartender for a one night stand. She’ll never see him again, right?
A series of unfortunate events, getting saddled with the bartender to help her friend, past and present secrets and amazing chemistry with the least expected guy make this story a very nice debut rom-com.
I really enjoyed the storyline and the characters both main and secondary. I liked the fact that though Whitney is going through a lot and has trust issues, she lets her walls down and accepts heartbreak when it comes without being overly dramatic or becoming a doormat. I’d have wanted to get more insight into Cole’s background, but still liked his character and the fact that he was not as big a jerk as one might think at the beginning and he fights to get what he wants no matter who’s on the opposing team.
In all, this was a good read, funny, romantic and sexy and I’m looking forward to reading the next book of the series.
* Received an ARC for which I voluntarily provided an honest review *
