From a secret duo of USA Today Bestselling Authors, comes the first COMPLETE STANDALONE in the Modern Love Series.Who knew sleeping with the enemy could be this fun?Was the one night stand a good idea?Well, no. Probably not in retrospect. In my defense I had just moved back into my grandparent’s house, I’d lost my dream job, and a guy on Tinder had stood me up. It was like life had suddenly … It was like life had suddenly stamped ‘LOSER’ on my forehead.
So when the guy behind the bar started giving me THE look…you know, the one that promised I’d be screaming his name into the wee hours of the morning? When that guy also has the perfect amount of scruff on his chiseled chin, biceps bulging out of his t-shirt, and a cocky grin you knew he’d earned in the sack…when he gives you that look, you don’t bother to figure out what your six degrees of separation are. You jump on that horse and ride it!
Pun fully and completely intended. And accurate by the way.
I fully admit to feeling sorry for myself and acting impulsively, but by the time I’d figured out WHO the bartender was, I was already falling for him.
** Note: This book was previous titled “The Bartender”. Same great story with a fresh new look. **

I loved this book, I can’t wait to dive into another one by #Author Piper Rayne. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.
This book was a ton of fun to read. It was witty and sexy and really heartwarming when it needed to be. I loved Cole’s character tremendously. He may have been labeled a man-whore, but he is anything but on the inside. And Whitney was so strong and sassy that I couldn’t get enough!
The story is a little weird to call enemy to lovers because no one really hated each other. At least it didn’t show in the story-line like that. Yes, they have history, but it wasn’t a hateful past. I don’t know, maybe that’s just me … I’d call this more of a second chance to get it right kinda story.
I’m really looking forward to moving ahead with this author duo in The Boxer & The Banker. Their writing flows easily together and makes for a very good team.
Loved this story. Besides the amazing HEA, the girls had me laughing so much. Cannot wait to start book 2.
I absolutely enjoyed Whit and Cole story! It had me laughing right from the beginning!
I found this book very easy to read. The characters are engaging and the banter and interaction with all parties helps draw you into story.
Enjoyed the book very much. I will read more from this author whenever possible.
This book is a story with wonderful characters with the joining of the classes. It was an easy to read story with twists and turns of a good love story. I really enjoyed the story along with the little mutt.
The Bartender is a five star read
Loved The Bartender. It had me laughing so hard at times. Especially in the beginning, but I don’t want to spoil it. There was a lot of feels going on though, laughter, hatred, love, angst and some hot as h*ll sex scenes. All of the characters were great! They all had great sense of humors. The story line flowed perfectly.
Whitney Knight moves back home with her grandparents after losing her dream job. She goes to meet up with a guy from Tinder, but he stands her up. She drinks the night away, she finds the hot bartender Cole Webber keeps looking at her and he starts getting her drinks. He plans to take her home and have his way with her which she is ok with…Until she finds out who he is when they have to spend so much time together planning for her best friends (and his brother’s) wedding. When she realizes who he is, it is too late for her to turn back, she is falling for him and falling hard. Until she finds out he is keeping a big secret from her. Will they be able to move past this secret and move forward?
This was my first read by Piper Rayne. The Bartender is the first book in the Modern Love Series and I look forward to reading the other books by Piper Rayne. The Bartender was a quick read and is read as a Standalone.
Light easy reading.
Whitney and Cole sitting in a tree K I S S I N G… Sorry, I couldn’t resist, that’s the way my immature mind thinks sometimes. So back to the point, I love The Bartender. It’s sweet and sexy and more heartfelt than I was expecting. When Whitney and Cole are thrown together by her best friend and his brother and asked to pick venues for their upcoming wedding, they begin a journey that actually started much earlier, although that part is unknown by Cole. Both have secrets that when revealed, have the potential to hurt the other (and others around them), but they can’t help but to get involved with each other because their chemistry is that strong.
If you like your romance with a dash of sweetness and some steam, I’d advise you read The Bartender today!
I absolutely loved this book! From the first page to the last page I was so engrossed in the story and the characters I couldn’t put it down. It was funny and intriguing and the chemistry between Cole and Whit was incredible. It had a touch of mystery in it but you was hoping that all would turn out well but you just didn’t know. And then you have the secondary characters that was just perfect and added the final touches. You really feel like you know all of these people and I love books that pull you in and make you feel your living in the story. And the unicorn cock…lord have mercy!!!! I just can’t this book is just ahhhhmazung!!!!! I really can’t say enough about this book and I am not one to give spoilers but if you read one book this year read this one!!! Because you will laugh, you will cry, and then you will be crying from laughing so hard!!!! And I can’t wait for the next book!!! I have found new authors to stalk!!!!!! I highly recommend this book!
Loved this book and wanted to read more!!
This book was a good read for a weekend at the beach. Steamy romance but not over the top. Great descriptions and interesting characters. Good story that unfolds until the very end.
Whitney had me cracking up with the things she thought and said, absolutely priceless especially the unforgettable unicorn “eggplant” I guess would be acceptable to describe it as for a review. This was a great enemies to lovers story. Cole is so much more then what you see and I love that about him, his brother on the other hand I didn’t like from the start. Great read didn’t want to put it down and can’t wait to read more from these two amazing authors. This is my voluntary and unbiased review.
Round 2 audiobook review:
I was cracking up all over again with Whitney and fell for Cole once more seeing the kind of man he has transformed into. The narration is perfect as we’re hearing the story from Whitney’s POV, I felt all the emotions and passion that she felt coming right through the speakers. Once again I was pulled into the story and didn’t want to see it end. Absolutely wonderful read and a must listen to for those audiobook addicts like myself.
This is my first book by the duo, Piper and Rayne, and it will not be my last, I am hooked. I smiled so much while reading this book that my cheeks hurt. The Bartender is a smart, sexy, fast paced fun read, guaranteed you will not be able to put down ( I read it in 2 days and I am a slow reader). I fell in love with the three main female characters, Whitney, Tahlia and Lennon, they are so supportive of each other, it’s refreshing. This book is primarily about the enemies to lovers relationship between Whit and Cole, and what an explosive ride it is. The Bartender is a great start to this series! Now I am off to read the prequel, The Brush Off, which should be read after the Bartender. Don’t be confused by the term “prequel” read The Bartender first. Happy Reading!
I received an ARC for an honest review and I absolutely loved this book! I am new to Piper Rayne so I wasn’t sure what to expect but they definitely have a MUST READ in this one! It is an enemy to lover’s read that will have you laughing at the crazy antics of Whitney’s friends and rooting for the hot-sexy-reformed-playboy Cole to win Whitney’s love! If you want a great book to read definitely pick this one, you won’t be disappointed!
It’s a great read if you can get past all the grammatical errors!
Loved it so much, I got the next two books while on vacation! I wish there was a sequel to all the books. Like a part 2 or something.
The Bartender by Piper Rayne is book number one in the Modern Love series. This is Whitney and Cole’s story. There are also a lot of laughs and fun with Whitney’s best friends Lennon and Tahlia.
Oh my! I loved this story! It was a blast to read. I laughed so hard my husband just rolled his eyes at me. This is one of the best books that I have read in a while.
So, if life is getting you down then curl up with The Bartender and you will forget all about your troubles. You will be laughing in no time. This was such a fun read! I can’t for the next book in this series.
FYI, includes mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
