this book as the start for me to read higher leveled book,i read this book in grade 4 and today i am in grade 8 and i shared this book because i love how how it has wit, plkot and characterisation.
its one of my favorite books since I was in 3rd grade. I first read it when one of my classmates brought it to class and she offered me to read it, I read the whole book in one hour. Its a really great book and I think those who have not read this book are really missing out on the action so I really recommend this book.
An amazing example of Roald Dahl’s writing.
This book is truly wonderful. I have no other words to describe how great this book is. It’s a true classic. I recommend to anyone interested in the wacky world and series of Roald Dahl.
This is a tough one to review. I read it over and over again as a child and loved it. When I picked it up to read it with my kids, I was shocked at how racist and body shaming it is. I could not believe how much damage control I had to do to explain it to my children. Yikes.
Roald Dahl is timeless. Fabulous. Read it with my kids and now with my grandkids.
Chrlie and the Chocolate Factory will make you believe that almost anything is possible. Charlie Bucket is an impoverished little boy who lives with his impoverished extended family, yet he holds tenaciously to his dream of winning a golden ticket so that he can visit Willy Wonka.
I think my favorite part of all is the first part, about the big poor family living under one roof and having little to eat, and how they support one another.
The book is a fantasy, but the realism of the first part grounds it in reality–which makes the rest of the book entirely believable! Yay! Great writing!
My mom read this to us when we were kids. I remember looking forward to listening each evening and laughing so hard my mom could hardly talk and our sides hurt. Such a great family book. The best part is the lessons learned.
‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ tells the story of an average boy who is luckier than he would ever imagine. The character of Charlie Bucket is a poor boy with a heart as golden as the ticket he finds. This book is the first that chronicles his adventures with Willy Wonka in the chocolate factory.
This work explores vices of children to take things too far, and the consequences of not controlling yourself. From Violet’s constant gum chewing to Veruca’s selfish, spoiled attitude, from Mike’s obsession with television to Augustus’ gluttony, this book takes heavy topics and tries to twist them into amusing lessons for those who read this book (though as an adult, the end results are horrifying to think about, but that’s what makes it so funny).
I would recommend this book to those who love a good adventure, and to those ‘average’ people like Charlie Bucket who think that they aren’t so special. Dahl proves in his well-crafted story that even they can be blessed with something extraordinary.
He very colorful imaginable in all his books
Who doesn’t love this classic story about candy, competition and crazy characters?
A classic. Great to read aloud to kids
All of his books blow out my creep-factor. They make my ski crawl, not in a good way.
As a child I read this book and thoroughly enjoyed it; my children also enjoyed reading it.
I’ve always loved this story, even when they made 2 movies out of it.
Much better than the movie
