The explosive new thriller from New York Times-bestselling author and master of the medical thriller Robin Cook. Newly minted chief resident at Boston Memorial Hospital Noah Rothauser is swamped in his new position, from managing the surgical schedules to dealing with the fallouts from patient deaths. Known for its medical advances, the famed teaching hospital has fitted several ORs as “hybrid … fitted several ORs as “hybrid operating rooms of the future”—an improvement that seems positive until an anesthesia error during a routine procedure results in the death of an otherwise healthy man. Noah suspects Dr. William Mason, an egotistical, world-class surgeon, of an error during the operation and of tampering with the patient’s record afterward. But Mason is quick to blame anesthesiologist, Dr. Ava London.
When more anesthesia-related deaths start to occur, Noah is forced to question all of the residents on his staff, including Ava, and he quickly realizes there’s more to her than what he sees. A social-media junkie, Ava has created multiple alternate personas for herself on the Internet. With his own job and credibility now in jeopardy, Noah must decide which doctor is at fault and who he can believe—before any more lives are lost.

Suspenceful, edge of your seat book. exactly what you expect from Robin Cook.
You never know until the end what is going to occur. Great Robin Cook book.
Not Cook’s best work. Hard to get through.
Another great medical suspense book by Robin Cook!!
Am reading it on my Kindle, now.
Not very good. Expected a better narrative.
Intriguing and thought provoking!
Enjoyed it!
I found it fascinating to discover how the author (also a physician) could portray a charlatan anesthesiologist as a successful one in a prestigious medical practice, when anyone who knows the lengthy training and experience required to achieve that competence could not have possibly been achieved by study alone. In fact, there are enough malpractice claims in all medical fields to support the fact that even rigorous training and experience do not guarantee good clinical outcomes. Still, the writing style leaves that question hanging in the balance throughout the story until the end, which makes the tale a fascinating one.
Great read lots of medical detail
This was one of my least favorite of the many Robin Cook novels. I found the protagonist to be incredibly naive for a supposedly brilliant surgeon and the ending very a brupt
The only other Robin Cook that I’ve read was Coma, which was great. This one is ok, I could see the end coming though. And it’s a tad farfetched. Being an ER RN CEN for 30 years, I find it moderately implausible.
Scary. Far to realistic.
After meeting the latest crop of newly “minted” Drs, this book scares the crap out of me because of how close to reality it is.
end sucked but it had it’s moments
Some pretty silly plot devices. Disappointing.
Another action packed medical thriller.
Like all Robin Cook books, this is a page turner that you can’t put down!
A real page Turner!
It wasn’t as thrilling as I thought it would be. I was expecting more suspense, but there really wasn’t any. Not one of my favorites.
I’m a Robin Cook fan. You always have to wait till the end to find the who did it.
