It is recommended that you read “Heaven Hill Generations” before starting this series, or you will be spoiled and lost!Charity Walker When my daughter, Justice, was kidnapped. It took a lot from me, too. My sense of safety. My confidence as a mom. My belief that most people are good. The same thing wouldn’t happen twice to the same family…right? The chance it will is what scares me the most.
OMG where to start, First make sure you have a box of tissues handy. The emotions that are in this one is unbelievable.
Laramie has brought how a mother feels when one of her kids go through a very dangerous situation. And the support of Drew and the rest of their family.
Charity was a great 5 star emotional read and book six in the Heaven Hill Shorts.
We get an inside look at the emotions that a mother goes through after her daughter was kidnapped and returned home. Fear and not wanting to let them have their space. The jealousy of siblings feeling they are not getting enough attention.
There is a scary twist that really helped Charity realize some important things. Your heart goes out to Charity and feel like you’re right there with her. This is a really short read that pulls you right in and you will finish it in one sitting. 1-click and get started now.

Charity is living every parents nightmare, unable to fight the paralyzing fear caused by Steele and his need for revenge. Each time she takes her eyes off her daughters the fear becomes crippling and it is destroying her, piece by piece, day by day. This story novella gives readers a small glimpse of how her life has changed, and the affects of it are haunting her. Justice and Harley are learning to live a new life, one with tighter limits and lots of check-ins, but nothing ever goes without growing pains. I truly hope we can see a day where this family finds the healing they need and can move forward and overcome their fears and enjoy life to the fullest.
A parents worst nightmare is having their child taken. But what happens when thankfully she is rescued safe and sound.? Charity is struggling with anxiety since Justice is home. How does she breath? How does she trust again? How does a mother balance keeping her family safe and allowing her children to be kids again? Charity and Drew have lived thru the worst but the foundation and love their marriage was built on truly stands this test. It was beautiful to see this family become stronger.
Wow, this is a deeply personal story of two characters who love each other and have been through the ringer. Drew and Charity are each dealing with the aftermath of their worst nightmare in very different ways and learning how to live without constant fear. Looking forward to reading the rest of the Walker Family’s stories.
I really love these Heaven Hill shorts that give us snapshots into different characters, couples and times in the series. this one was no different and I really loved it was Charity. We get insight into her and Drew’s relationship with each other and their children post kidnapping. i can’t really go more in detail because then I am giving plot away but I will say it is such a great read and it wouldn’t be Drew and Charity without some steamy scenes! MUST READ!!!
These short stories are just as great as the Heaven Hill series. I just can not get enough of them and can’t out down. These are about the characters and how they try to cope with what had happened. Love this author’s writing so much.
I’m loving these short stories.
Charity is dealing with the consequences of Justice’s kidnapping, but continues to worry a lot about her daughters, in addition to having to deal with her pregnancy. She lives in constant apprehension of what can happen to her daughters.
Luckily she can count on Drew and the love they feel for each other to help her overcome this trauma.
WOW!!! As a mother I feel for Charity. I don’t know what I would do or how I would act after a situation like that. I do know it would be really hard to ever let my kids out of my sight, I would probably home school my kids.
Charity is trying to live again after Justice was taken. Her relationship with Drew is suffering because of it. Her relationship with Harley is suffering because she is more cautious and Harley thinks she isn’t as important as Justice.
This one really broke me being a mom, and having that worry in the back of your mind already, knowing that you can’t always be there to protect your children.
Drew was amazing and did everything I knew he would do. He is just like his father Liam. Even though he is terrified everyday about something happening to his family, he is always there to shoulder all their pain.
Laramie you are truly an amazing author. You capture every emotion. I can feel everything the person is going through as I read. It’s like I’m living it all.
This is a quick peek into Charity in the aftermath of Justice’s kidnapping. As a mom she is struggling with not wanting to let her girls out if her sight. I definitely felt what she was feeling and I understood those feelings well as when something happens you have the need to hold onto everyone tightly. It was great to see Drew, Charity, Justice and Harley and I can’t wait for more.
Another great short by Laramie Briscoe. This book gives us a different perspective of the events that happens previously and gives us the mom’s point of view. The struggles to give space and protect at the same time. Even through the stress, Charity and Drew still have the intense chemistry they have had all along! Such a great book. Must be read in order to fully understand!
Charity broke my heart. She is still dealing with the aftermath of every mother’s worst nightmare. Drew and the girls are trying their best to adapt to their new normal along with Charity but it isn’t easy. Its always in the back of your mind the gut wrenching fear that it could happen again and it leaves you feeing off kilter and always on guard. The emotions that they all are going through…well you will need your tissue box nearby. A well written story and one that I recommend. Well done and I can’t wait to see what this talented author comes out with next.
Charity which is a short story is amazing and powerful of how one event can change the way you feel. Charity and Drew’s story is amazing. I don’t want to write more and spoil it since it is a short story. Make sure you one click but make sure you have read the Heaven Hill series first.
Oh, Charity as a mother my heart just hurts for you. I loved her POV and I love that we got some of Drew’s POV. I enjoyed her story because there is a lot of emotion and a lot of soul searching because as a parent you don’t ever know if you are doing the right things. The “what if’s” can destroy you.
This is the 6th book in this series of shorts and is a great catch up. Charity and Drew are still coming to terms with the fact that their daughter was kidnapped, and how it is affecting the family unit. This is an emotional read which is heart-breaking as well as heart-warming. I highly recommend this series for all.
Always wishing these shorts were longer! This novella focuses on Charity and how she’s adjusting to the aftermath of what happened in the previous book. We don’t obtain any new information about what happened or what’s to come, but we do see how Charity has grown since her book as well as in her relationship with Drew. While I love these shorts, the past few I have been wishing they were longer because there isn’t much substance to them in regards to a storyline. There are only 4 more left before we get another novel so hopefully we will be getting more clues as to what comes next for the MC!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
These short stories that occur after the events of Fury are great!! I love that we get to catch up with the characters.
Charity and Drew are still dealing with the fact that one of their daughters was kidnapped. It’s so amazing to read a book that you can just feel the love these two have for each other jump off the page.
I miss all of the characters from the Heaven Hill series and the shorts are the perfect way to catch up with them.
These Heaven Hill Shorts may not be long in page count, but they pack one heck of an emotional punch. These little vignettes from Heaven Hill life won’t make a lot of sense unless you’ve read Fury first. This is the aftermath of those events. Now we watch as a community, a family, battles to put itself back together in a time where everything that was once familiar is now foreign. When you learn that safety is an illusion, what do you do? How do you find your peace of mind? How do you reclaim your sanity? Charity’s story shows us the Walker clan struggling for the answers to these and so many more questions. When it only takes this many pages to bring me to tears, I think I’m as terrified to find out what comes next as I am desperate to read it.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
This book was incredible. To see how everything that has transpired in Charitys life has effected her was heartbreaking but also made her feel raw and real! This snippets are so good I can’t wait for the next one
In this story we really see the ramifications of what Travis did and the devastation left behind. We get to see how a mother struggles with feeling that her children are safe after something awful already happened. We get to see how Drew reacts as a husband and father to how his family has been broken. You really see all the people who were affected by one person’s actions and how they struggle to put it behind them and be the family they were. I love these glimpses into everyone’s lives, it gives us more time with the characters we love. I would definitely recommend this book and I’m looking forward to reading the next book by the supremely talented Ms. Briscoe as each book no matter the series just keeps getting better and blows my mind. I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion of this book.
