It is recommended that you read “Heaven Hill Generations” before starting this series, or you will be spoiled and lost!Charity Walker When my daughter, Justice, was kidnapped. It took a lot from me, too. My sense of safety. My confidence as a mom. My belief that most people are good. The same thing wouldn’t happen twice to the same family…right? The chance it will is what scares me the most.
The Aftermath of Fury left Charity and her family with a new normal. This installment will show you what a mother goes through when she almost loses a child. I’m excited to read what’s next
This next installment in the short stories was a great read that I thought was finished as quickly as it started. In Charity’s story, we get her perspective on the aftermath from the events that took place that the club is working through. I liked seeing her emotions and her completely normal reactions to what had taken place. I also enjoyed the interaction between her and Drew and not just the intimate interactions even though the pair have chemistry that is off the charts despite the amount of time that they have been together as well as the impending birth of their son. I continue to enjoy these small peeks into the members and I look forward to more in the future.
Imagine that you couldn’t protect your child from one thing. I think that is a mother’s worse nightmare. Charity is feeling that guilt and worry and stress. Pregnant and just overwhelmed, she doesn’t know how to deal with all the emotions.
Drews steps in, and in his special way, manages to get her to talk about it. Talking to her about his feelings and listening to hers. It shows how strong they are as a couple.
I turned the page and it was over. I wanted more a lot more. It’s a novella I reminded myself, but Laramie always leaves me wanting more. No real cliffhangers, but you don’t want the story to end.
The aftermath of Justice being kidnapped is so far reaching. Laramie Briscoe has done such an amazing job of delving into how the kidnapping and subsequent actions to save justice has effected each person that’s part of Heaven Hill, in this case Charity, Drew and Harley. It broke my heart. Laramie has such a way with words that it make you feel what they are feeling. Love this series.
Another installment in the Heaven Hill shorts, but don’t mistake short for lack of depth and emotion. This is the POV of Charity, in the aftermath of her daughter’s kidnapping. As a parent you can put yourself in her shoes and understand the pain and doubts. Luckily she has Drew, and an army of loved ones to see her through.
“I Voluntarily Received and Reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book”
As a mother whose greatest fear is losing her daughters, this book hit home with me. I can totally sympathize and relate to the struggle Charity is having adjusting to her post trauma life. She’s grateful and terrified at the same time. She’s hyper focused on everything, so much that she can’t relax and relish in the fact that Justice is okay and safe. While short and sweet, I thought this story was a great addition to the post Fury shorts Laramie has written. If you enjoyed the previous shorts, you’ll enjoy this one too.
Drew and Charity are one of my favorite couples of the Heaven Hill gang!! This short story follows Charity and her struggles after justice has been kidnapped. The story is heartbreaking for what Charity has to go through but Drew is her rock. I can’t help falling in love with them even more.
In this Heaven Hills Short we get Charity’s perspective and emotions after the devastating betrayal. Charity is strong, fierce and vulnerable in this book. Her relationship with Drew and her girls was well written. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
“Charity” is the 6th book in the Heaven Hill Shorts series. A mom who desperately wants life to go back to normal but can’t let of her fear. Laramie Briscoe has done an amazing job conveying the depth of feelings a parent experiences when their child has been threatened. I felt Charity’s vulnerability and struggle to feel safe. Her guilt, her uncertainty. This is a story about a family starting to put themselves back together you won’t want to miss. It is recommended that you read “Heaven Hill Generations” before starting this
I love these shorts. Charity’s fear for her girls is so raw and real, and I can totally feel for the girls wanting some independence. I love these stories….I am so looking forward to the next one
Laramie Briscoe is one of my all time favorite authors. She is so real, so authentic in her characters and their emotions. She has done something really unique with the Heaven Hill shorts, bringing us on this journey of grief, of fear, of betrayal. Drew and Charity always seem so strong, so on top of things that seeing them try to cope with the new normal was staggering. Simply put, another fantastic read from this mad talented lady!
I love the bond between Charity and Drew. After a tragic event happened to her family, we see the fear that Charity lives with. But with Drew by her side she may overcome it.
I have to give thanks to Laramie Briscoe for taking the time to delve into the psyche of each characters in the Heaven Hill series after the shocking betrayal in Fury. This time we sneak into the mind of Charity and how she’s coping or rather not coping with the aftermath. It is a must read for fans of this series.
A am enjoying these novellas that give insight to the Heaven Hill club members after Travis’s betrayal. Charity and Drew are navigating their feelings as it pertains to their kids and safety. The situation is something no parent should have to live through and any instance can set off panic, but as long as they are united, there is nothing that they can’t conquer.
This one went by way to quick! I think I read it in 20 – 25 minutes.
This is mostly from Charity’s POV (with one chapter featuring Drew) shortly after Justice was kidnapped and back at home. Since I love her and Drew, it was so nice to ‘see’ them again.
If you haven’t read this series, you will be lost if you attempt to start with this one. I recommend you read the whole series from the beginning. It’s a great series!
Loved the Charity short read! Charity and Drew are one of my fav couples, their love for eachother is inspirational. And this short read has just made me love them even more. Especially Drew!
