It is the lack of having supernatural abilities that makes Noelle a non-believer. Anya, her younger sister, believes in almost everything, and tries her best to change her sister’s view of the world, including reminding her they are part shifter. It isn’t until one morning during a ride into work with her uncle, the town sheriff, Noelle questions her disbelief in all things supernatural. She has … She has premonitions which send her and her sister on a quest to find a book that may lead to their destiny.

Great YA read
What an enjoyable supernatural story. Filled with suspense, it is a great paranormal in a small town. The two orphaned girls, Noelle and Anya, are great, believable characters. Very human in this paranormal setting. A mix of adventure and coming of age story. Great read.
I loved this book! It’s a wonderful read for anyone who adores urban fantasy/paranormal. The book opens up with what seems like an ordinary scene of a waitress closing up a store. She lets in a final customer who kills her and her husband, leaving behind two daughters. Raised by their uncle, the girls lead a seemingly normal life until another murder happens and their lives are changed forever.
I loved how drastically different each character’s personality was. It made them all feel so real which caused their journey to have a different effect on me than reading a book with flat characters would. I was rooting for the two sisters to pull through and loved the suspense of every page.
Highly recommended!
Three cheers for this paranormal suspense.
I really love the unique relationships in small town stories. It’s like the joke, if you ask you husband to pass the salt, a neighborhood hands it to you. I grew up in a small town and it really is like that. The townspeople all seem to be involved in the plot. I also love shapeshifter stories. Always something unexpected going on, especially with these two teenage girls, so different from one another, which adds to potential conflict. Nice work.
This story had a unique and unpredictable plot. It was a real page turner.
I love a good small town suspense tale, and this one delivers. Murder, teenage orphans, and shifters mix the classic ingredients into a great treatment of a time-honored trope. I always loved the name Anya, and enjoyed her character very much. It has shades of Stranger Things with a deeper delve into the supernatural people surrounding them in the town.
Murder mystery among the supernaturals.
This is a well written, easy to read paranormal mystery.
Like the small town setting and the relationship between the two sisters and their uncle, also liked that although murder is committed it isn’t bloody, concentrating on the mystery and the story.
Enjoyed this and look forward to reading book two when it is out.
So often shifter stories gloss over the protagonists discovery of them becoming a shifter- either that or the hero finds out and takes it all in their stride. So it is refreshing to read a shifter story that tackles this full on. The character developments are fun and realistic and the cozy mystery feel of the story is entertaining and fresh for the genre. I thought it was a great prequel which sets up the characters and their lore for a new series.
Great supernatural read. Noelle and Ayna are sisters who lost their parents at a very young age. They’ve been raised by their uncle, James, who is the sheriff of the small town in Arkansas they all live in.
Noelle is 18 and Ayna 16. Noelle begins to have some very vivid, disturbing premonitions that really freak her out. She seems to have more supernatural abilities than her sister Anya who is a bit more open to believing supernatural beings exist. One of Noelle’s premonitions occurs shortly after a naked man is found shot in the woods by some hunters. Later in the story when her sister is kidnapped she has another that is about the person who kidnaps her sister. Their uncle shared with them a few years back that he was a shape shifter. Neither really believed him until Anya’s kidnapping. That’s when both girls discover werewolves and shapeshifters are real. Soon they embark on a journey to find a book that may help them discover more about themselves.
Meanwhile James is trying to solve the murders of the naked man and another one who appeared to have been mauled by a wolf. James was never told much by his father about his shapeshifter past, but his investigation into these murders is turning up information not only about likely suspects but himself as well.
I think this was a very well crafted story. It kept me interested and engaged. There was a bit of head-hopping going on in the story, rapidly shifting POV’s, that made you have to stop and figure out who was talking, but other than that it was a pretty good story for a new author.
This book first attracted me because I love stories of the supernatural and of faeries, however, though the book has a number of positives going for it (that I actually believe will really appeal to a young YA audience) I am sad to say that it was just a little too bland for my taste. The book starts out with a promise of mystery and danger to come, and it did initially grip my attention, but then it felt as if the pace took a hit and I was left wondering when it was going to move forward past an extended setting of the scene and the pleasantries involved in everyday life. Overall I think I missed a little depth to the narrative, but the book is certainly polished and will undoubtedly appeal to a true YA audience due to the likeable nature of Anya and Noelle’s sibling arguments and quirks. I also believe that the softer approach to the ‘death and gore’ issue is tailored to perfection to a younger audience, and so – though I would maybe not recommend this read to an adult – I would most certainly not have a problem doing just that to any young teenager in love with fantasy and the supernatural.
Chaos is a fun, creative YA fantasy with suspensful mysteries laced throughout the story. The unexpected storyline of the first few pages hooked me early on. I found Chaos to be an exciting page turner. The characters are imaginative and well written. The ending left me curious for more.
My review
Chaos: Supernatural Realms
Written by Jennifer N Adams
When I finished this superb read of supernatural delight, discovering all about Noelle, her sister Anya and their sexy uncle James who is also the sheriff in their small town, discovering the scary truth, shifters and other paranormal creatures are real and who is really behind the killings – I wanted to keep turning the pages and continue reading.
Now I am eager for the next instalment to begin.
A fantastic read, by a talented author.

From the first few scenes, Chaos had me hooked. The action is realistic and haunting at the same time. I wished I could have gotten to know the initial characters better, but they weren’t who the story focused on, Instead, so I got to know about their daughters. Both Noelle and Anya had no idea about their heritage, yet they would not be left in the dark for long once strange things began happening in their sleepy little town. This YA story is unique and engaging, leaving me with a cliffhanger ending and the desire to get the next book to discover what will happen next.
