CHAOSThat’s my life. No other way to describe it. As the Sargent-at-Arms for the Deathstalkers MC, my days are filled withConstant craziness and crap. But I like it. It’s who I am. And what I’m all about. Finally, after years of Hell, everything feels like it’s right where it’s supposed to be.Except with herShe’s far from where she’s supposed to be.Tracie is so damned determined to be with someone … so damned determined to be with someone who isn’t “one of us.”
Delusional.
That’s what she is.
Downright insane at times.
Those idiots can’t handle her.
Will never be able to handle her.
And I’m about to show her why.
And she’ll finally understand.
Because this life ain’t for everyone,
Especially when danger lurks in the shadows of all the
Chaos.

I don’t know if this book is the best in the series so far, but it certainly had the most impact and shock value. I could never have guessed what happened would ever happen and it made me both hate the author and love her for it all at the same time.
Thinking back throughout the series I’m actually quite angry at myself for not expecting what occurred in Chaos. I mean, the author showed from book one that she isn’t afraid to put the main characters through hell and back, which in itself is very fitting considering the setting and characters with the whole MC clubhouse and all the dangers and threats that come with it. However, since Nikki and Twisted got their HEA in the previous book, I kind of thought they were in the safe zone. Shame on me really, because the author is really good at using every tool at hand and I can only really applaud her for taking advantage of and using the unexpected. I haven’t cried this good in a long time and while a part of me wants to slap Alexis Noelle for doing what she did the bigger part is absolutely awed. It takes skill to make such a emotionally messy impact on a reader because it shows that the writing caught the reader’s investment and caring for both plot and characters.
Here comes the sad part though. As much as I am amazed and shocked in a good way from the “big incident” I felt like the book didn’t offer much else that I really enjoyed. I liked the beginning with Tracie fighting her inner and outer demons and resisting Torch, as well as Torch doing anything to prove she should be with him. Sadly, this didn’t really build up to anything. It felt like out of nowhere she just stopped fighting and decided to give it a go with him. I did not see any reason behind this decision and as soon as they were together both of the main characters left the spotlight a little bit. In part because of “the big incident”, which was fine, but also in general where Lucy and Nikki got bigger parts in the story and Tracie and Torch disappeared behind it all.
The characters didn’t have as much of an impact to the story as the previous ones which in turn made the relationship between them not as exciting as it could have been. The ending saved it a bit, with the whole, unexpected (but kind of expected if you look into the hints the story gave) villain. Apart from the way to cliche “villain revealing his whole plan before having accomplished it” aspect, I really liked the twist and the villain’s cleverness setting the whole thing up with no one the wiser. It gave the romance the spark it was missing with him desperately trying to save her. It was not enough to make up for the rest of the book, but it was at least a good note to end on, especially after all the tragedy the characters and me as a reader had been through. For me Chaos lands at 3.5 stars.
