Changing Roles is a life lesson. Through a duo of battered hearts, there’s much to learn about life, love, heartache and strength. Moreland crafts a story as unpredictable as it is enticing. Liam and Shelby seem as different as two people can be, but where it counts, they’re more alike than they realize. Moreland encourages readers to see with their hearts. In life and love there is always a surprise. Liam and Shelby are a reminder that we’re never two old or young to take a risk and learn something new.
Oh Liam, you silly, wonderful git.
I know we all love our Alpha heroes. Take charge, possessive, growly – all the things we heard that Tarzan of the jungle was and want one for our own. But, wouldn’t it be wonderful to see someone grow into the role without the a$$hole part of alpha?
Liam needs help. OMG desperately. As witnessed in this bite over at Book+Main:
https://bookandmainbites.com/story/43094
For twenty-eight years, he has enjoyed his role (mostly) as an actor, friend, and son. There is no possessiveness needed. Until Shelby walks into his life. And leaves him on a dinner date where he realizes – he’s in love with her. He tries on that possessiveness to get the Girl Friday.
Shelby is no simpering heroine. She’s had life hand her some rotten lemons. But rather than wallow and hide behind life’s crappy fate, she walks around the pile and chooses to chin up and move on. Little does she know that her heart is going to add to her list of duties – Falling in love with her best friend.
This story is everything you expect it to be: Funny, sexy and falling in love with their journey. If you loved the movies Music & Lyrics or Notting Hill, this novel is for you.
Melanie Moreland engages the reader with appealing leads and great secondary characters. It’s so lovely to read great storytelling without the unending drama that is meant to shock and cringe. I am growing weary in my choices being just men who aren’t redeemable. In a book world where my daily recommendation feed is full of bullies and men who don’t appreciate life, this story fills my hearts-and-flowers-fluffy-bunny-and unicorn heart with laughs and smiles. Ms. Moreland delivers a story for the rest of us: For those who want to see the characters grow and love with some laughter along the way.
This is going to be shelved in my personal favorites. One I will return to when I need that – love story. Friends to Lovers – Best Friends perfect for each other – and *poof* watch it happen.
Absolutely devoured this latest release by Melanie Moreland!
Liam is the most endearing and hilariously ‘real’ character I’ve read in a while and Shelby totally suits him and his quirky sense of humor with her down-to-earth common sense.
A wonderful read, with relatable characters, and wonderfully lighthearted banter.
Highly recommended!
Another 5 star read from Melanie Moreland. To top this amazing read off is a hot English actor named Liam as the main character. Woohoo!
Liam is a huge man child, I mean hot actor. Hee hee. Liam literally cannot do anything for himself. He may be the hottest actor in the big lights, but he is not like most. Behind the scenes he is helpless and has panic attacks. Without his manager he would never make it. This shows true in the very first chapter.
Then comes Shelby. His mangers sister. She is amazing. She keeps Liam in line and his life less chaotic. What he doesn’t realize is their relationship is more than housekeeper and boss. She grounds him. She is a safe place in a world of paparazzi and crazed fans.
A beautiful story of falling in love and taking charge. The story has a unique story line and the characters are absolutely beautiful. This perfect love story is sure to play on your emotions. Melanie’s perfect mix of romance, danger and comedy is sure to bring readers plenty of enjoyment for hours. This story has a perfect twist in roles, hence the name, Changing Roles. Think about the movie lA Walk To Remember” with Mandy Moore. Remember falling in love and growing up. Well like that movie, you will fall into this story and fall in love.
Beautiful Story!! I love the cover! Liam, a Hollywood Star, is handsome, kind, and protective. He is perfect! Shelby is lovely, strong, smart, and supportive. They share an undeniable chemistry. This is a well written, sweet, and beautiful friends to lovers romance. The supporting characters are great. I loved the characters, the humor, the romance, the little suspense, and the very beautiful happy ending. I loved the Epilogue. As always, John Lane and Maxine Mitchell did a fantastic job with the narration. I love their voices together, and they are one of my favorite duos. The are perfect as Liam and Shelby. This is a great team author/narrators. I enjoyed it.
Changing Roles
Written by: Melanie Moreland
This has been sitting in my kindle app for sooooo long and I finally set a day aside to “get ‘er done!”
What followed was out and out belly laughing romantic comedy.
The humor mixed with the serious in this book was balanced perfectly. Liam might have been a movie star but he also had a huge issue that was only known to a few. Liam was prone to Panic Attacks in certain situations and one of his biggest issues lay with the paparazzi. He stayed as far away from them as he could!
Shelby’s brother Everett is Liam’s agent/manager. When Liam takes it upon himself to fire his housekeeper, Everett approaches him about hiring Shelby to be his housekeep/PA. If you think that interview was a guarantee I will tell you it all depended on turkey sandwiches and cupcakes!
Over the next few months these two become friends, ok confidants. Shelby is the perfect person to fill in when Liam needs to show up on a red carpet because she is one of the few who can keep Liam grounded and calm. As time passes these two become even closer and eventually the time comes when Liam has to take charge. When that happens we see a different man, a man protecting the person that means the most to him.
This entire story could make a made for TV movie, it has everything friends, lovers and all the ingredients needed. As a book it’s the best romantic comedy I’ve read this year.
Run over and one click this book, enjoy the laughs and everything else that comes with Liam and Shelby’s story.
I loved this book! Liam was so, so sweet and concerned with Shelby’s well being – even before he realizes he sees her as more than his friend’s sister or his housekeeper. Sometimes you need a no angst, sweet book and this is it! Liam and Shelby were so good together and watching their love story unfold was like a warm hug. You won’t regret this one!

I have been an enormous fan of Melanie’s for years now and she never disappoints with her books. Liam had me from the beginning and held me throughout the entire book which is something that normally does not happen.
Liam is a total sweetheart and it only gets worse when Shelby enters the picture. Liam is this high profile actor in desperate need of a new housekeeper due to his last one being a little crazy. Anywho, the chemistry between Liam and Shelby is apparent their very first meeting, however, Shelby’s heart is healing and Liam is a clueless lad.
When Liam decides that Shelby should be his, nothing stands in his way. It was easy for me to connect with Shelby as well as Liam. They both have a lot of things to overcome, Shelby especially. And Liam is just the person to help her with it.
Changing Roles has got to be one of Melanie’s best books aside from Richard, The Contract. The book is filled with everything I look for in a book and leaves you with the best book hangover. She was able to capture my attention from the first page and hold it the entire book and leave me wanting more.
Oh my Liam is a quintessential Hollywood leading man. Gruff, demanding , no patience and handsome but underneath that exterior lies a man about to make a change!
I fell in love with Shelby she is honest, real, smart, sassy and the best right hand woman a person could want. She is hired to take care of Liam and she just so happens to be his best friends sister. Now Shelby will do what ever is in her power to make Liam happy but she will not let him throw a temper tantrum or welch on his responsibilities. She is sassy, matter of fact and does not take his nonsense !The more time they spend together the more Liam realizes that she is not only his greatest asset but also she has worked her way into his heart and that has him thinking they need to change their roles . Loved it !

Enchanting!
Usually, I’m completely enchanted by the heroine in a book, and while Shelby is a beautifully written character, it was Liam that captured my heart. His pure innocence and unspoiled celebrity was sweet, funny and refreshing. I adored this book!
Oh my Liam and Shelby. Can we just sit here and truly love how Hollywood love can be sexy, sweet and craving for more.

There were so many things about this book that I loved. This is written dual POV, but predominantly from Liam’s persrpective. Liam one of those heroes who is happiness and joy on the surface with hidden depths. Shelby is a care giver in her core and cherishes taking care of Liam. The relationship they have as friends is a strong foundation for becoming more. I love how tender they are with one another and also how they tease and joke around with each other. Their physical intimacy when it happens is both fun and hot. There were several times I laughed out loud with tears running down my face as Liam says some of the most awkward things that are absolutely hilarious. I adored that the ending goes into the future for a real look at their life together in their HEA. This was the perfect book to read on my birthday and I highly recommend it to all.
Changing Roles was such an enjoyable friends to lovers story and so much fun to read!
I am a big fan of Melanie Moreland. She always delivers a well written, well thought out story that keeps me entertained from beginning to end!
Liam and Shelby have a friendship that is real and honest and the crazy back and forth banter between them only made them more endearing and easy to love as characters.
When Liam realizes he wants more from their relationship he just has to convince her to take a chance and admit her feelings. Shelby is afraid to ruin a great friendship but really does love Liam. Can they make this relationship work? Read on and enjoy their story as much as I did!
You guys …. what is happening in my world right now??? Another new-to-me author blows my expectations out of the damn universe!!
I really enjoy a friends to lovers trope because who doesn’t want the person they fall in love with to be their best friend? I mean, for me, that would be utopia! The stories can focus more on the romance because the getting to know you has already happened so for the most part, the entire thing becomes swoony and endearing for me. Melanie Moreland hit all those spots for me and then some! She gave me humor and heart with this story and I loved it!
The perfect Hollywood Romance…with an Englishman….
Liam is charming, silly, and surprisingly more. He just needs the right test of his mettle to prove he is more than just a pretty face.
I loved this book. I think I’ve read thru it three times to write this review.
Liam tends to be a touch impetuous. To the frustration of his manager. Well, honestly, everyone. It tends to land him in situations he doesn’t like or intend. Like the one that leads to him firing his former house manager.
Not that she didn’t deserve it. But it could have been handled more smoothly. His Oscar would certainly agree.
But it turned out to be perfect timing because his manager’s sister, Shelby ended up coming into his life and the rest, as they say, is history. She changes his house, his stomach, his closet, everything for the better.
Eventually, like all good romantic comedies, he starts to see her as more than a friend. I love the evolution of their relationship.
I also like that he’s not your typical playboy. He’s vulnerable. And he really does care about those around him.
Shelby acts like she’s ancient compared to him. Which he doesn’t see at all. She’s also separated but still married because her husband is a piece of work. Liam brings out her playful side.
Being Melanie, she isn’t going to give us a smooth road. There’s a wee bit of a bump in the journey but in the end, it’s fantastic.
And that epilogue is hilarious!!
I received a review copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Another captivating read by Melanie, this is a wonderful friends to lovers read, and then so much more….
Liam is a hot British Hollywood actor, loved the world over for his charm, personality and his blonde hair and green eyes, nicknamed Peter Pan in the business, the boy who never grew up! Managing himself is not something he does well, whether in business or his personal life. Everett is his business manager, he runs everything smoothly and he trusts him completely, so when he needs a new housekeeper (as he found the old one selling his underwear on eBay and then trashed the place when he fired her), Everett suggests his sister, Shelby.
Shelby is just getting over a difficult divorce, more than that really, her ex ripping her off for everything she owned and running off with it. She is a strong woman and didn’t want to ask for help, yet had no choice but the ring her brother.
Shelby and Liam get on fantastically well, she’s more than just his housekeeper…. she cooks, cleans, launders, takes care of everything housewise, but also they are the best of friends, laughing together, eating together, having movies nights. He calls her Beaker and she calls him Oscar, their nicknames are cute and fit each other perfectly!
As they both realise what they feel for each other is above and beyond friendship, but what to do about it…. she feels not worthy enough to have him that way, thinking he would move on when finished with her, and her heart would be crushed. Liam feels he loves her no matter what, but ends up putting his foot in his mouth and making a right mess of things to start off with, but is determined to prove to her just what she means to him.
A fantastic read this, you will feel yourself pulled in by the story line, laughing along with the antics, groaning at Liam and his ways and then swooning as he comes out of his shell to be the man of Shelby’s dreams. Of course, will all of Melanie’s books there is a fantastic epilogue at the end, a perfect ending! Highly recommended reading.
Liam is a celebrity among the players in Hollywood. He is known as Pampered, pretty, and often puzzled. Until he had Shelby as an assistant he had trust issues as well. Now he had people around him that he feels comfortable with. And maybe something more……
Shelby has already had a past with a man out of control. She is looking to heal, not find someone new. Being close to her brother & working for Liam is a decent life. Even if it has its lonely moments.
This book was a sweet and sexy play on a slow burn. I like the characters in their own right. This was a premise that I love. I like when best friends can be more. I loved that the MC’s in this were basically best friends and have that trust and cozy way they rely on one another. Lots of little surprises throughout the book, but I found them a delight.
***This copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.
I love a good Melanie Moreland book, and this one was everything I wanted it to be.
Liam and Shelby have such an obvious and deep love from the second they come on the page and watching their journey as they realized they were, in fact, so much more than best friends and boss/housekeeper was amazing. I also love that Liam was a good guy to begin with, if a little lost, and realizing the love he had for Shelby made him better in all things. He was far from your typical manwhore Hollywood actor and I found that a huge breath of fresh air. The kindle melting heat, the private jokes (I’m already looking at orange juice much differently) and the fierce way they protected each other all made for the perfect love story, and came along at the right time when I needed to read something full of heart that would make me smile, and I smiled big throughout this entire book. 5 Oscar stars

This was a nice romance story. That being said, it did take a while for me to really get into the book but once I did, I really enjoyed Liam’s and Shelby’s story.
Deliciously Delightful – luv’d it I am such a judge fan of this author. I absolutely have not read one book by this author I didn’t love. I don’t even read what her new books are about, I just buy them. This story is about Liam and Shelby. LIam is a young leading man in Hollywood. He’s British but spends most of his time in LA due to his career. He hasn’t had the best luck finding people to help him navigate his life that he trusts. The paparazzi love to hound him. Shelby is beautiful down to earth and shy. Her brother recommends her to Liam and takes over as his PA and right hand. Soon though, feelings appear and the rest is history. This is such a fun, sweet, complicated and very compelling story. I stayed up til the wee hours. Absolutely recommend and would give it more than 5 stars if I could. I voluntarily received an arc copy of this book from the author and purchased a copy as well
