USA Today Bestselling Author, Terri E. Laine brings a new standalone New Adult Romance novel, Changing Hearts, a second chances novel. One night … one kiss … one touch … will change everything. Most people see Sawyer Cargill as a gorgeous but cocky guy who doesn’t take anything seriously including the trail of hearts he’s left behind. But there’s so much more beyond the jokes and the sexual … beyond the jokes and the sexual innuendos; behind the mask he so carefully wears. It’s in the way he takes care of others, including me. It’s in the glimpses of the pain he carries in his soul.
I see him for who he really is. I know his heart is capable of changing from thorns and ice to love and flame.
It’s more than a little hero worship. I’m in love with him.
But, I’m not the only point of this triangle. Someone else who is important to us loves him too. How can there be joy if he chooses me when I know the other person will be hurt?
Together he and I will have to figure that out because when I have him, I won’t let him go.

I honestly had no idea what direction this book was going to take me, but I didn’t care I just wanted to go for the ride. I loved it! I found it unique and I was trying to imagine how things were going play out. I was happy how they did, but I really really need to read the next book now.
Changing Hearts was a wonderful read. The story was well written, with emotions pouring off the pages. I was completely engrossed with the story from start to finish. The characters Sawyer and Shelly were genuine. They showed true emotions and their banter had my laughing at times. I really liked them. I loved seeing past characters from Chasing Butterflies and Catching Fireflies books. I’m really looking forward to readin the next book in the series as it’s Ashton’s story.
Let me just say first that I’ve always loved Sawyer and Ashton and this was like one of the most anticipated stories for me. And no surprise there, it absolutely met my expectations. *fangirling*
Changing Hearts is the third book in the Chasing Butterflies series and while they all can be read as standalones, I’d advise you to read them in order as they all hold spoilers to the previous books. I also believe that you will enjoy Changing Hearts a lot more if you get to know the characters from the beginning. Anyway, I just think that you shouldn’t miss out on Kelly’s and Chance’s story because those books are awesome but you don’t necessarily have to read them.
The Story:
Sawyer and Ashton have been best friends for a long time now and although they even share their women, they each fight their own demons.
For most people Sawyer is a hot player who comes from money, likes to party and have fun with women; because they don’t know him.
There are reasons behind his actions and he does everything for the people he deeply cares for. They always come first even if it means for him to get hurt along the way.
Eventually he has to realize that everyone has to live his own life and that he has to let got.
Life goes on and people change. As hard as it might be to accept, nothing stays the same forever.
Thoughts:
You cannot believe how happy I was when I finally received Sawyers book. Sawyer and Ashton have always been intriguing characters and there has always been and partly still is a mystery about them.
Although I knew the characters from the previous books, I had no Idea on where the story would go because there were so many possibilities but I loved Sawyer more with everything new I learned about him.
You might not believe me but Sawyer was one of the most selfless and caring characters I’ve read about in a long time. He was hurt and hid behind this person everyone knew, the carefree and hard partying guy.
We got some really scorching HOT scenes in this book.
There was once a girl between the boys and their friendship survived but at what cost? Now there’s another girl but this time’s different and the dynamic and change it brought with it was compelling. It was impossible for me to put the book down.
In the end, I can only say that the author did a fantastic job. There were some touchy subjects but they never made the story heavy. It was more like dipping your toes in. Problems were solved in a ‘nice’ way but the focus of the story never wavered and was mostly on Sawyer.
There’s so much more I want to write but I don’t like to give too much away so I hope you will pick up this book and get to know Sawyer and his story because it’s absolutely worth it!
Sawyer could be considerate and sweet at times, “isn’t this what you girls do after a breakup? Eat ice cream and ****?” Sawyer can be a jealous man, “yeah, and so will every guy on campus be if you leave in that.” Her tank and shorts barely covered anything and she was already tiny.” Sawyer is seriously a handsy man, “…then he slapped my butt and winked at me before walking away.” I really enjoyed this book, Sawyer is what I call a work in progress, but I fell in love with him.
