For a vila warrior, love only comes with death.During World War I, vila warrior Jerina Ventus’s life irrevocably changed when she saved a wounded soldier’s life and helped him return to his hometown in Colorado. Twenty-five years later, she’s restless and longing for another adventure beyond her forest. Little does she know, her sister Kosa will deliver the opportunity to her.Thane Beltaine grew … opportunity to her.
Thane Beltaine grew up hearing stories about the beautiful and fierce immortal warrior who saved his father’s life. When Jerina’s sister Kosa shows up in his hometown on the arm of a wicked mage, Thane volunteers to find Jerina and bring her back. He never expected to meet the woman who was more legend than real and definitely didn’t think they would clash about every little thing.
Jerina’s temper and patience are tested as they travel to Colorado to rescue her sister, who at first seems reluctant to be saved. She needs to outsmart the mage and find a way to release Kosa from his control, and she needs Thane’s help to do this.
Reluctantly, they work together to save Kosa, and an unexpected love begins to grow. But vila are cursed to never find true love—and if they do, he will quickly die a gruesome death.

Havenwood Falls has added another great addition to its franchise with Char Webster’s Changing Fate and Char herself. Jerina after being restless gets told by her sister Kosa who has some secrets to hide, to go see an old friend. After Kosa leaves Jerina goes after her only to find Thane the soldier she saved during ww1 son, who then takes her to Havenwood Falls. After meeting with her friend she finds out that her sister is taken with a mage that was asking a whole lot of questions about Jerina herself when she was in HWF years ago. the rest you will have to read to find out
Beautiful
Once again the new addition to the legends of Havenwood Falls was not a disappointment. This one doesn’t take us back as far as some, but it still makes for a beautiful story. The flow of the book was perfect and they did an excellent job with the other characters they brought in, they were the same as they should be.
There was a time that I even cried and screamed at the author. Maybe I will forgive her if I get more of Thane and the sisters.
Until Next Time… Tabi
Another great addition to the Havenwood Falls world. I enjoyed the sweet romance as well as banter and tension between Jerina and Thane. The magic mixed with small town spots like the ice cream shop brought a comfort and plausibility to the story for me as well. As it’s shorter in length, the story felt a little rushed at times however, it makes for a quick, light read that is sure to please.
I enjoyed this story and actually forgot it was a legends story up until the original owners of the Inn were introduced. The characters were great and the story easily kept me entertained. I loved that their were female warriors in this story. Jerina’s fierceness and determination to find her sister was great and Thane’s cocky humour made me laugh. I hope we get to see more of Jerina, Kota and Thane in future books.
I really loved jerina and thane’s story. I loved how char did this book with a kick butt female lead. Plus the race that she chose. I can’t wait to read more of Char’s work. Great job.
This felt more modern than “legends” but I still enjoyed it. The only thing that made this feel older was that we met the original owners of the Inn. This is the first book by this author that I have read and I am interested in looking into her other works!
Jerina is restless and getting kind of grumpy according to her sister. Kosa suggests that she go find an old friend and take a break of sorts. However, Kosa is keeping a small secret of her own and things get complicated so fast. I really enjoyed this tale, but it wasn’t so much of a legend like some of the others. While we do get to meet the original owners of the Inn, it feels much more modern. I loved the characters and hope that we get to see more of Jerina, Thane and Kosa.
