Intense chemistry, angst, political drama and suspense all set within the backdrop of the Scottish royal family.
Blair is the Scottish princess while her brother is next in like to the thrown. We discover that Blair is certainly not a demure innocent princess. She is a confident, smart and a little bit naughty. Ben is a childhood friend/first love that has returned to take over Blair’s security. Issac is a new player in the push and pull between the UK and Scotland. The sparks are flying all over the place when these three are on the page. Romance is wrapped around the inner workings of a royal family on the verge of major changes.
This is a book 1 of a trilogy and the first book I have read by this author. The next two books are slated to release in February and March and I am all in for this ride!
Just super wow! Annie Dyer knows how to write an amazing story!
Blair is an amazing woman and princess! The thing I am loving about her and her family is their realness! They are royalty but yet still do things themselves.
Ben is a great alpha lead man who has secrets he needs to share.
The story is filled with surprises and sexy hot moments. Don’t blink cause you really won’t want to miss a word of this book!
Chandelier by Annie Dyer is book 1 in her new Tarnished Crowns Trilogy. I’m going to try to post a spoiler-free review because there are 2 more books to go!
I could not put this book down. Book 1 is told from Blair’s POV. We are introduced to a lot of people. Many of whom have intentions that are not so clear. Who is good? Who is bad? How many are filthy liars? I loved how Annie weaved the inner workings of politics – democracy and monarchy – between two countries, England and Scotland, that are set in an alternate universe.
This series is a deviation from Annie’s usual contemporary romance (Callaghan-Green series, Severton series), but I absolutely loved it. It’s engaging, intriguing, and very steamy (MMF romance).
Take some suspense, delicious angst, politics and mix in plenty of steam and you have Chandelier by Annie Dyer!
Ben and Blair’s story was such a page-turner. From beginning to end I was captivated by the story and Annie Dyer’s hypnotic storytelling. Between the twists and turns the story takes to the red-hot romance, I was hooked. Seriously, the steeeeeeaaaam!! I cursed adulting a few times a long the way as in reluctantly set this book down. Trust me, you won’t want to! Then after that epic ending all I know is the next book, Grenade, needs to be here ASAP because I need more! 5 stars.
This is a great story and well written as the first in a trilogy. This story is a MMF storyline. The characters are well written. Blair is the princess of Scotland in an alternate world. Ben is the son of the gardener and to stay away from her he leaves to be in the army. Upon his return he eventually ends up back working with her again. The chemistry between these characters is great and cannot wait to see where the story goes in the next book
This mixed trope story (second chance and forbidden) had me fanning myself. It’s steamy and sensual.
I rarely root for all the main characters but this one was an easy decision. The mystery of everyone’s agenda kept it interesting. You don’t really know who’s a friend or foe.
There are still many unanswered questions however this is a trilogy. Will see how it plays out.
Chandelier by Annie Dyer was a mass of electric energy generated from clashes of political power plays and the sensual interplay between the lovers. Everything about this story was on extravagant, magnificent and overwhelming. The sexual tension, the mind games and the emotional overload was too brilliant.
Blair is the princess of Scotland and caught in web of her duties to her country and her desires. Two men will change her life and this is the story of that journey. But only the beginning. A lot is at risk. Two countries. Numerous lives. Blaire’s childhood love and now security head Ben will protect her at any cost. And he will also protect Isaac, the advisor to England’s Prime Minister. The story is a complex narration of so many things that you will lose yourself in the maze.
Ben and Isaac both are incredible men. Both have secrets and scars. Both are protective and possessive alpha males. And they show that in different ways. Ben is harder, rougher and more intense as he comes from a common background and had seen too much during his time at Army. Whereas Isaac is more refined in showing his dominance but no less deliciously. Blaire is the epitome beauty, class and also sass and spine. I love how she balances her royal life with her more intense choices. The heat quotient of this story is highest than any books I read recently. But it was so sinful in tasteful and elegant way. If there is a way to burn yourself seductively, Chandelier will be it! And be ready to left with a major cliffhanger and I was screaming for answers.
Chandelier by Annie Dyer created a majestic, captivating and intoxicating aura through masterful writing. It was suspenseful. It was intense. It was steamy and sinful. It was pure bliss for a romance reader!
Received ARC for Honest review
I loved this book, the characters, the way they all have their own agenda. It all just seems to fit. It touches on royalty and politics, but not in a bad way. Blair’s brother is determined to set her up with the prime minister, but she has had a fling with her bodyguard Ben, who is hot!!! This is a MMF book, and I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of it. Looking forward to the next book.
As always Annie gets it right, at this point as soon as i see a book with Annie’s name on it, i know its going to be good
I was hooked from the moment i started reading! Theres a lot going on and a lot of things happening but its not overwhelming, Annie knows how to pack a lot in but at the same time make it like its not too much. The passion in this book is just amazing.
Theres a mixture of everything in this book mystery/suspense, politics, heartbreak, and a whooole lot of passion
This is the first book in a connected trilogy and does end with a very surprising and jaw dropping cliffhanger but don’t let that hold you off from reading, you need to read this! and Grenade releases in a few weeks! so you don’t have to wait long for the next one
“I’m just a pretty thing concerned with pretty things. A chandelier, designed to throw a harsh light in differant directions and conceal hard truths.
Like damn. If that 2 sentences doesnt sum up the first book in Annie Dyer’s Tarrnished Crown Trilogy, I’m not sure what does! Poor Princess Blair has had a rough go of royal life. Being used as a pawn in everyone game gets exhausting. So when Blair meets a man who seems to actually just want her the fun really begins.
“He was catnip and cocktails and the hidden ray of sunshine on a dingy day.”
However with all political fun and games nothing is ever quite like it seems, the wolves emerge and you’re left falling into pit of snakes.
“I’ve never been afraid. I havent been taught fear. But now I feel it.”
Left with a bang and a cliffhanger, you wont be able to put this book down!!!
On a personal reading note – I unfortionatly felt as though reading the prologue (September) it made the end of the book less dramatic. If you want a nice “yes get it, what the wha-” moment, skip the prologue all together.
“We’ve hit an impasse, a stalemate, pretending that each other doesnt exsist and it’s made me want to bite my arm in frustration.”
* New author to me
**3 1/2 stars
I wanted to love this story, I love mystery and menage stories. I love royal romance. But there were some issues I had with this story not including this book needed some major editing. I am not a big complainer when it comes to editing, I understand. But if you are going to throughout three books and promote them, then spend the money and edit the book.
Chandelier is the first book in the series, but I feel like I was dropped into a soap opera. I was jumping around so much with people that I really couldn’t keep up with the people sometimes. I almost had to keep a scorecard. Blair, Ben, and Isaac are supposed to be the main characters. But the secondary keep jumping in also. Blair is NOT an innocent little girl in this story. She is a horny adult woman that has to hide her BDSM side from her family and the outside world.
I am not sure if I will read the other books.
Intriguing!
Annie Dyer starts out her new romantic political thriller trilogy with a bang and a gasp! This book is filled to the brim with intrigue, sexual longing and shadowy mysterious characters. Can’t wait to see what happens next!
Chandelier is HOT, a romance novel wrapped in suspense and intrigue, layered in beautiful colors and scenes, the intent of Annie Dyer to keep you off a step and surprise you again later!!
Blair and Ben have been ‘friends’ forever, but when he left for the Army, Blair was left feeling hopeless about her future. So much so that she’s reaching outside her circle to feel some satisfaction. When Ben reappears, he is less than thrilled to have been called back, but Blair is thrilled to have him back. Unfortunately just as he returns, life gets a whole lot less predictable and incredibly dark. The layers, and secret’s built into the book by Annie allow the reader to fall into a dream of a story, but don’t look away, everything can change in the blink of an eye.
As the book reaches its peak there is a massive turn of events, just in time for the ending no one expects, and Blair, Ben and Isaac have to learn how to sail increasinglymurky waters. This book has everything I love, a hot, steamy mmf, political intrigue, and a relationship meant to last lifetimes! Chandelier is easily a six review, Annie Dyer hit this one Out of The Park!!
What a great start to this trilogy. It hooked me and I didn’t want to come back up for air. It’s intriguing and so much mystery and suspense because you don’t know who is planning on doing what. But the chemistry and the passion just didn’t let me go. I can’t wait for the next book!
The first in the Tarnished Crowns trilogy, Chandelier sets the stage for a twisted tale of political intrigue, Royal machinations, and an MMF affair. In an alternate history putting Scotland and England at odds, we find ourselves following the Scottish princess, Blair, during her daily routine of kissing babies and basically being used as a pretty political pawn. Glimpses of her past mixed with current situations elicit a fair amount of mystery and my interest is officially peaked as to what will happen in the other two additions. The foundation was a detailed, slow build; however, with Ben’s story up next, it seems the chess board is set and I’m anxious for the next move.
**On a personal note, if you like going into the story blind with no spoilers, I suggest skipping the prologue.
Book one of the Tarnished Crown Trilogy left me with questions. This is such an intriguing book in so many ways. It’s told from Blaire’s point of view. Blaire is a Princess in Scotland. There is a lot not said in this novel, but you know there’s more to be told. There is a love triangle, which is MMF. This book has political intrigue at it’s center, family dynamics, second chance live and more. Great book and I’m excited for book 2.
Annie Dyer’s characters are very well crafted and I quickly became invested in this MMF story. A reluctant princess living in a world of political rife and intrigue, her bodyguard, and an advisor for a rival country’s prime minister are the main characters and each have a treasure trove of secrets. Will they work together or against each other? Loved this book and can’t wait to dive in to the second book of the Tarnished Crown trilogy.
I absolutely love the main characters. There is something special about Blair, Isaac and Ben.
I love that their trilogy is broken up and 1 book is told through each of their perspectives.
Chandelier is Blair’s perspective and the beginning of their story together.
This book was amazing! I couldn’t put it down. It was almost like reading a chess game. A lot of players, you didn’t know what their strategies are, everyone is hiding something, but you are intrigued by all of them. As this is the first in a trilogy you are left wanting so much more, but with Annie’s writing you’ll want to devour this book before the others come out. If you’ve read her other series, this one is a bit different, but still so good. The heat factor is beyond anything I’ve ever read before. This book was everything I never knew I wanted, I can’t wait for Grenade (book 2) I need more!
I received an ARC in return for my honest review
Blair Stewart is the Princess of Scotland with her father ruling the kingdom and her brother the heir to the throne. Her heart belongs to a man that she can’t have as he is “below” her and she finds herself a pawn in the political game where her brother has no problem marrying her off to someone she doesn’t want.
But in an instant everything can change and Blair could lose it all including the love of Ben Smith, her body guard.
This was such a great book and I am loving the beginning to this series!
I loved Blair right from the start and it was clear that she loved her country but really had no desire to be used as a pawn in her brother’s political strategies. Blair had been in love with Ben for years and her heart broke when he left and she never saw him again for 11 years. When he returned she was struggling with having him guard her as her heart had never fully mended.
I was super mad at Blair’s brother Lennox for using her as a pawn in his political games. The stuff that he alluded to with William, the King of England was awful and I hated that he wanted Blair to play his game. I was also confused with Lennox’s relationship with Elise, Blair’s friend.
Ben was interesting as it was obvious how much he cared about Blair yet he was so cruel to her at times and I didn’t know if it was because he was trying to hide how he truly felt or if something else had happened to jade him so much. He was so hot and cold with Blair and I was really worried that she would end up getting hurt.
Isaac was definitely an interesting addition to the story and I really wasn’t too sure when he appeared what was going to be his role but I was not expecting everything that happened! Wow – the temperature definitely rose up at certain points!!
The end was not a surprise because of the way the book started but now that certain things have happened I am super curious to see where the next book goes!!
