OH EM GEEE!!!! This book was fantastic. 5 isn’t enough. Chandelier is different from any other book I’ve read by Annie Dyer and her writing in this book, was pure brilliance.
I don’t recall the last time characters were embedded into my system like these. Even after I finished reading, I was still thinking about them and all the ways I was left speechless.
The story starts off with big bang, which then flashes back to how the characters got to that point and what a journey that was.
Lies, betrayal and passion are part of the drama that unfolds in this royal family. The sex these scenes are some of the most intensely passionate and erotic I’ve read.
I promise this book is A MUST READ FOR 2019!!!! I can’t wait to get my hands on the upcoming books from this series
4 stars for – Chandelier – book one in the Tarnished Crowns trilogy by Annie Dyer. This is a MMF romance so reader discretion is advised but with that being said it is a smoking hot story filled with mystery, intrigue and lots of steamy sex. There is so much going on in this first book with lots of flashes between past and present you need to really pay attention but it starts off strong and ends in a way you never see coming.
Blair is happy being the daughter of the king of Scotland not at all worried about politics or drama. She does what and who she wants when the urge strikes. Her brother is the political one who will take over for their father when the time comes and she is so glad she won’t have to deal with any of it. The most interesting thing she has to prepare for is the new bodyguard that was hired for her.
Ben grew up with the princess and her brother but left to become a soldier. He’s back now to work for the King’s protection detail and is shocked when he finds out he is to be assigned to Blair – the girl he fell in love with when he was a boy. He’s going to protect her and nothing else regardless of how he feels even if it kills him.
I recommend this story and can’t wait to read book two – Grenade – next.
Oh my giddy aunt, but this book was everything I never knew I was looking for and so much more, and what a boon that it is the first in a trilogy! I’ve been hankering after this book since I first heard it was going to be a thing! This is so much more than a romance, with political intrigue, a heightened sense of thrill and tension, and it is all so engaging!
Blair is a fantastic character, she has her own mind, is trying to do what’s best, and then there’s Ben, and Isaac. And hello gentlemen! The character dynamics have you engaged from the prologue, and though there’s a cliffhanger, I know that book two is going to blow my socks off!
This book has everything I love in a book royalty, sexy bodyguards, and lots of steam. I loved Blair and was totally team Ben from the beginning. But there is something about Issac that keeps pulling me in. I will say it was a wonderful start to a trilogy and I can’t wait to read book 2.
Ohhh my! I had huuuge expectations going into this book. And I mean HUGE, thanks to a certain trilogy out there with a comparable setup that many of you will probably know too. It didn’t matter that I had just heard of Annie Dryer, the bar was as high as was my anticipation to finally get my hands on this book. And what can I say? I was not at all disappointed!
Right away you are transported into a world of royalty, intrigue and seduction as much as politics, suspense and heartache that will hold you prisoner from beginning to end. Spiked with some seriously explosive steamy scenes that are definitely not safe for work. Weaved with secrets and mystery galore, leaving you guessing, breathless and in need for more.
And if that does not want to get you want to read book two right away – that insane cliffhanger surely will! I’m ready for more! More intrigue – but even more for more undeniable chemistry between Blair, Ben and Isaac.
A fantastic start to this trilogy. Lots of drama, angst and hot and steamy scenes between the characters. This story pulls you in and keeps you there till the cliffhanger. Can’t wait to read more of this awesome story.
I have a thing for British royal history, and that extends to the ties the British monarchy has with Scottish history. Annie Dyer has taken her creative license and weaved the sort of opening salvo that has, at the very least, guaranteed that I’m sticking around for the second novel. Okay, okay, for the third one as well, because darn it, I’m emotionally invested now! How could I not, what with all the intrigue that surrounds Blair. She is not some ordinary princess who gives the barest of smiles and is better seen than heard. Nope, what we have here is a woman who bears the burden of a tarnished crown but that is only the beginning of her burdens. However, she’s got a head and heart that I believe will bear whatever’s thrown her way, and she’s not going to be grinning and bearing it as the old adage prescribes. Blair is a warrior and her relationships with both Ben and Isaac have me as curious as much as those she she has with her brother and her parents, as well as certain members of her staff. Dyer may have been new to me going into this book, but consider me hooked. Chandelier gets five out of five stars.
What a great first book to start out the trilogy! I can’t wait to read Grenade and Emeralds as well. I feel like I know Blair so well and my heart hurts for her. I love history and Chandelier has a bit of history in a way and political drama. I’m on the edge of my seat!
What an amazing story…
so many great characters and the storyline is original and hot as sin!
A fabulous start to a trilogy where I hope to learn much more about these interesting people. So much mystery and intrigue surround this book, everyone has secrets and no one is above reproach.
The ending leaves so many unanswered questions, I can’t wait for the next installment.

It’s 2am & I couldn’t put this book down! What a fascinating, intriguing book! Blair is the Princess of Scotland in a tale woven in what-ifs – what if Scotland is its own country, led by a monarch, and struggling with its relationship to England & the prime minister? What if said princess “met” the prime minister’s lead advisor at a club in Seattle? What if her boyhood best friend, who she’s loved forever, is her security? What happens when all of those worlds collide? A steamy, hot cliffhanger – I can’t wait to see how this plays out!
Annie Dyer brings a story about royals, politics, lies, betrayal, and romance. It took me a while to get into it because of the slow build up and too much telling for my taste. However, I enjoy it. It got better once the pace picked up. I liked Blair and Ben. I was intrigued by Issac. He’s mysterious and it’s hinted that there’s something between him and Ben. How long and to what extent is unclear. I’m sure there will be more in the next books. Can’t wait to see the three together. This is a MMF after all.
Chandelier ends in a cliffhanger that will make you want to read the next book. Be warned.
3.5-4 stars
Fantastic book!! Blair, Ben & Isaac blew me away with their unique relationships and stories! I can’t wait to read more of them!! Ben & Isaac are great additions to the harem!!
Tarnished Crowns is set in an alternate UK where Scotland and England are independent of each other–each with their own monarchy. Blair is the Scottish princess and her brother is the future king. Blair and Ben (who is the gardener’s son) were childhood friends and come together again when Ben is hired to Blair’s security detail. I will admit, it took a bit for this book to completely grab my interest even after that shocker of a prologue, but once I was in, I was ALL IN. This MMF political suspense story had me clambering to know exactly what was happening and who could be trusted and by the end, I was second-guessing everything I thought to be true. I have absolutely no idea what to expect in the next book, but my grabby hands are ready for it.
This is the first novel written by Annie Dyer that I have read and if her other books are anything like this one, I’m going to be kicking myself for not reading her sooner! I started reading a couple of chapters of Chandelier late last night and it’s just as well today is a Saturday because I have not been able to do anything other than sit and read until I finished. Now I’m in desperate need for the next book in the series!
The anticipation in the story was phenomenal. I was waiting and waiting and then waiting some more for what I expected was going to happen with Blair and the author just kept teasing me with what was to come, and I absolutely loved that!
The plot in this story was amazing – the characters too! There was so much going on that my interest never wavered. Making a reference to a line in the book it was like all the characters were pieces in a game of chess, some characters were restricted in their movements but all were there to make a play for what they wanted but could be taken out of the game at any time, and the game they are playing ultimately involves politics, royal duties plus love and attraction. Add to the story some of the steamiest scenes I’ve read and it is no wonder I didn’t want to put my Kindle down.
I’m not going to say anything else other than please read this!! Be prepared for an ending that will have you begging the author to release the next book right now. I’m so intrigued to find out what is going to happen next and have my questions answered that I am anticipating the suspense that I felt throughout this book will continue right until the end of the trilogy.
I instantly liked Blair, she seemed to be down to earth and genuine. I loved her friendship with Ben, and I loved even more when a third party came on the scene. This story was well-written and I loved the way the three characters relationship progressed. A little mystery, a little romance, and a lot of panty-melting sexy interactions.
Chandelier by Annie Dyer is Book 1 in the Tarnished Crowns Trilogy. The main characters are Blair, a Scottish Princess, Ben her bodyguard, and Isaac an advisor to the Prime minister, the kingmaker.
Book 1 is told from Blair’s POV. Wow- let me say what an awesome start to a new trilogy. Full of intrigue, suspense, angst, twists, heartbreak, passion, seduction, loss, betrayal, love triangle, secrets, drama and dramatic cliffhanger. This is a MMF romance. The characters in this story will draw you in and keep you hooked from start to the cliffhanger ending.
Just know that this is a deliciously dark and intriguing romance that will have you on the edge of your seat all the way up to the huge cliffhanger. I can’t wait for book 2 -Grenade.
My Rating: 4.5 stars *******
This was my first book by Annie Dyer and wow, I loved her writing! Such passion, steaminess, politics, intrigue…just amazing. I got sucked in quickly and beware of the cliffhanger but no fear, Grenade is coming soon on Feb 14th, 2020.
I loved this book! I loved how different it is from Annie’s other books. I loved that she tried something new and dark and taboo. It freaking works!
Ben, Blair and Isaac are so interesting in their own ways. The way the book starts-holy cow what an beginning. Likewise the ending-it made me mad but I know that over the next two books people will be redeemed.
Ben and Blair have amazing chemistry. Their sexual tension is also off the charts. Isaac and Blair have some awesome chemistry and sexual tension as well.
This book is well written with so much detail that keeps you reading. You just have to keep reading.
Sweet Holy Titfire…
It seems that 2020 is the year to blow my mind when it comes to books because there have been so many already this month alone that deserves to be in the running for the top books read, this one is definitely one of them. I was not prepared for how amazing this book was or how much it would sting to have it end on a cliffhanger (twice- if the prologue of the next book counts also). This author pens some of the best books out there (Callaghan Green series needs to be added to the TBR ASAP if anyone reading this hasn’t already read them) but they hold nothing to this book and the promise that is to come in the next book of the trilogy.
This story had it all” suspense, secrets, mind games, chemistry, steam, mind games, STEAM(had to be mentioned twice), in-depth characters, mystery, and a love triangle. Even though there is a love triangle per se, and this is a MMF book, so far it has just been hinted at the MM part in passing but it hasn’t been seen on the pages, yet. It left me with the same feelings as Sierra Simone’s New Camelot Series which is an all-time favorite of mine. The world-building in this book is PHENOMENAL. It sets up the game board and all of the characters. Blair, Isaac, and Ben. All have a role to play, they all have secrets, and they all wear masks. Add in the secondary characters, and the game gets really interesting. Who is friend, foe, or just a bystander? There are a lot of moves happening on the board and anything can happen.
I felt the emotions in the characters, I fell enraptured with the manipulations and motivations behind the characters and the moves they were making. Everything felt as if I was really watching how it might be in a royal court. At times it felt like I was inside a modern-day version of the Tudors or Braveheart. Wicked, wicked, wicked good. I cannot wait for the next book. This is one of those times that cliffhangers REALLY suck.
Oh my goodness! I’m not even sure where to begin!!!?? This book has the intrigue of both royal & political life. The steam is off the charts. The book is well written and I’m excited to read the next two books in the trilogy.
