Inviting your ex-spouse for the holidays might not be a good idea. Especially when folks don’t know you were married before.
Carolina quit her job and for the first time ever, she’s doing the holidays as a stay-at-home mom. And doesn’t all that extra time mean everything will be perfect?
Then the RV showed up. The RV with her parents, their dogs, and their obsession with Gone with the Wind.
… the Wind.
Then the college kids showed up. Their whirlwind left an empty refrigerator, loads of laundry, and a girl. A girl no one seems to know much about.
Then the other grandparents showed up. Hillbilly Hank on his book tour of Southern retirement homes brings his entourage, along with a special kind of marital discord.
While the town of Chancey watches the happenings up on the hill at the B&B, they are also trying to figure out the town’s bank account. Laney is the town’s treasurer, but she’s not answering questions. Missus has ordered 500 fake cardinals for her Christmas Ball. Peter is settling back into his home town and watching the B&B for his own personal reasons.
All the secrets aren’t in boxes tied with ribbons and bows.

Am enjoying this series
This book is part of a series. They are easy to read- guilt pleasure type of books. It makes you always want to read the next in the series to find out what is going to happen to the characters. I do wish they were a bit longer- I do think more of the story could be fit into each book.
Fun, easy read.
I totally enjoyed becoming one of the family. Good descriptions of people you’d like to know. I read the series immediately after finishing the first one.
A fun relaxed, vacation, with people who came here to “get away”.
I loved this series!
This was just a good, hunker down here n a cold day with a quilt and good book read. I love southern Authers talking about place so know and have lived. I was pleasantly surprised to also have the train history intertwine Ned as my grandfather was a train engineer and I grew up visiting their house where the tracks were outside the front of their house. Oh the memories it I invoked!
I enjoyed this. Book! Loved the characters, and the homey feeling of Chancey. If you just need to relax, and get away for a while you’ll love this book.
The author used plot twists to keep readers involved in the life of the protagonist. Definitely a variation from the norm.
I like the characters, and read this because I’d enjoyed the first book. The first was better than this one, and I felt bogged down this time. Just a bit though, and overall I suppose I’d recommend it for light reading.
Great humor.
Loved this series and the town and characters the author built. Will definitely be looking for sequels!
Loved reading this series…great story and interesting characters.
I could empathize with that feeling of life being out of your control. Made me laugh out loud.
HIlarious but christian also
I am now on book 5 of the Chancey series. Readers should definitely go in order.
Was an exciting book. Very surprising. Good read
Very good. Loved all the characters.
This is another book that I had to read the whole series. Even tho I don’t live in the south, the author totally made me feel I was in the action right there. Loved every minute of the whole series
It’s an easy read interesting book but you need to read #1 first “Next Stop Chancey”
Like the series of this author.
