Inviting your ex-spouse for the holidays might not be a good idea. Especially when folks don’t know you were married before.
Carolina quit her job and for the first time ever, she’s doing the holidays as a stay-at-home mom. And doesn’t all that extra time mean everything will be perfect?
Then the RV showed up. The RV with her parents, their dogs, and their obsession with Gone with the Wind.
… the Wind.
Then the college kids showed up. Their whirlwind left an empty refrigerator, loads of laundry, and a girl. A girl no one seems to know much about.
Then the other grandparents showed up. Hillbilly Hank on his book tour of Southern retirement homes brings his entourage, along with a special kind of marital discord.
While the town of Chancey watches the happenings up on the hill at the B&B, they are also trying to figure out the town’s bank account. Laney is the town’s treasurer, but she’s not answering questions. Missus has ordered 500 fake cardinals for her Christmas Ball. Peter is settling back into his home town and watching the B&B for his own personal reasons.
All the secrets aren’t in boxes tied with ribbons and bows.

didn’t finish reading it, didn’t like the beginning.
I really enjoyed this book, left me wanting to know whats next for the town of Chancey.
Very difficult to follow who all the character are
all of the Chancey books are wonderful- the characters draw you in and the stories are interesting and keep you reading without lots of gratuitous violence, swearing or graphic descriptions of sex- well written and enjoyable, I highly recommend the series and eagerly await the rest!
Boring-I waded through the 1st 25 pages and gave up.
Another good read in the Chancey series. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
I liked the characters in this book, you could feel how the family and friends related to one another. It made me want to go visit this town and its characters.
Great read!
A delightful tale of every day life in a town filled with unique individuals
Very easy to identify with main character
This book was great, sorry I missed the first one, can not wait for the next one
The characters in this book are so spot on with people I know in small Southern towns, I felt like the author may have been living with me. I could identify many character types in my real life experience. Fun, descriptive, and a good read.
It was a confusing book to read. Hard to keep the characters seperated.
Needs a strong editor! Loved the stories ; some good original storylines – what happens when your husbands ex wife comes for Christmas when your kids don’t know that he was married before? There are affairs going on, too many secrets , spouses not talking sharing. The typos were very distracting!
I loved this book and read the whole series, Would love to see more!
