I am not a middle grader but I absolutely loved this adventure story and it’s very young heroic characters. Chace Ogden embarks on his first day at middle school, looking forward to meeting up with his old chums when he starts to see things which make him think he is going crazy, apart from a teacher who seems to hate him from day one. The only good thing seems to be the new girl who he takes a liking to, as she is able to stand up for herself with Mr. Uwyn, her name is Raven Winters and she and Chace are to become the best of friends. His grandfather had gifted him a bracelet in the form of a dragon which he wore to school and which attracted the attention of the aforementioned teacher and that of Raven. Chace had no idea why, but soon found out that he had a destiny to fulfil and that no one could escape their destiny. He had the role of a hunter to live up to, whilst Raven was his protector and the bracelet was an ancient artefact, and the vision of the golden golem he kept seeing and which was hunting him was after this bracelet. A sorcerer was manipulating this golem who was very scary, and to rid the world of the danger they had to seek it’s source. Who was the evil sorcerer? Could two young students keep their world safe? I love that Chace takes on his role so seriously and invests so much energy into training to become better and stronger and I love that Raven as his protector does her job so well and watches his back to her own detriment. This book ends on such a cliffhanger that I cannot wait to go on reading the rest of the series.

Chace Ogden and the Golden Golem, my second read/listen from author Trevor Darby. An author that’s still new, to me, in the 3-hour 56-minute/144-page the story-line quickly gets better & better drawing the reader deeper & deeper. Narrator Michael Wetherbee’s narration adds greatly to the book’s enjoyment. I have to admit to speeding up the playback the story was so enthralling. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. I’ll be reading more from this author and in this series, in fact next up is Chace Ogden and the Quest for Raven: MYTH Squad, Book 2. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).

It is his first day at middle school and things are not going well. He starts to see a strange creature. At first he thinks it is in his imagination but in the way home it chases him trying to kill him. Why him? Can he find out why? Will he get help to stay safe? See if he can find all the answers

Middle school can be so difficult and so I felt sympathy for Chace. But Chace is an awesome kid and so are his friends as they work their way through everything that happens. This book captured me from the first page! I believe it will you too!

A well-written book that is worth reading.
After getting a bracelet for his birthday, Chance starts seeing strange things, but he has not been told that they are real. With good characterizations, good plot development, and well-written dialog the book is well worth reading. I liked the relationship between the characters and their interplay. I enjoyed this book from page 1, It reminded me of the joy I felt as a kid when I picked up a book and started reading. I loved the camaraderie among the friends. I loved the simplicity of the plot as it draws you into the story line. I can’t wait for Myth Squad. Book Two, A Quest for Raven.
