I acquired a little dog last year and know nothing about dogs. This book has
taught me much about their characteristics and my relationship to him. I
still prefer a cat. Maybe me and the cat are more alike, but the dog has taught
me much and so has Cesar Millan.
Cesar Milligan has always been a hero to me. I know there are many who don’t cares for his trading methods or him but I do! Good book on training and good to hear him get to tell his tough beginning and the total corporate rip-off he survived!
A dog owner, I learned a lot, even though I’ve had my dog in training for years. Caesar truly is a “dog whisperer.” He also shares his own life, which is appropriate and adds to the character of the book.
Most helpful. Easy to follow
Good information and good advice.
I learned a great deal from this book about how to handle my small dog. He can be a Jekell and Hyde but he is so loveable most of the time.
I always learn so much from him.
— a very surprising guide on mental health
I’m not a dog person. I picked up with book because I was doing research and it was included in my Audible subscription. I was totally unprepared for Millan to pour his heart out onto the page the way he did. He talks about sneaking across the American border, divorcing his wife, and very nearly committing suicide. And dogs, yes, but also people. Over and over I was struck by how well Milan’s animal husbandry mapped onto mental health. We should all treat ourselves as well as Milan treats his dogs.
Wonderful stories of training experiences, and good advice on training our dogs.
He thanks God for his gift. I watch his show every Saturday.
Had some really good advice.
i loved the arthur and always have. he really is a true dog whisper. he earned his U.S.citizenship and is proud of it
If you are a dog lover, do get the book. Cesar Milan is an expert at helping us be better people for our four legged fur babies. An inspiration for all animal lovers. All animals instincts are super yet. they help us learn so much about ourselves. A great read.
My dog is already 6 years old but I found ideas that will even work with older dogs. If you are thinking of getting a dog read this first to determine if you have the time, devotion, determination! I was dismayed at the ways I erred with my dog. Not to late though.
Good for a person who is beginning their life with a furry friend.
Kind of like Doctor Spock and his revolutionary child rearing and all the modern child rearing experts, everyone has their own ideas. Cesar has some wonderful ideas but many are old school. Many of the forward thinking trainers belittle his older style in favor of positive re-enforcement. I think the middle ground is the place to be.
Reading 5 training books over the last 3 weeks has me wondering how any of our dogs ever survived, let alone behaved and hoping we can get the new puppy to be our newest “Best Dog in the World”
A lot of simplistic language and repeating info. Humm. Wonder who he thinks he is writing for? (lol)
