Loved immersing myself in this beautiful setting, where I could open the (digital) pages and be transported to a huge ranch in middle-of-nowhere, Australia. Here we find Adam – handsome, smart, and a little rough around the edges. He’s not too happy with the lack of riding skills in the jillaroo he just hired to help on the ranch, but also can’t take his eyes off her. She may not be the ranch hand he needed, but there’s something about her that soothes his battered heart and makes him wonder if there could be brighter days ahead. Ivy knew she was being less than honest when she applied for the job, but thought she could bluff her way through and make a fresh start. She leaves Sydney behind for the wide-open spaces, only to find that ranch hand skills are not to be faked. Settling for the position of cook, Ivy is grateful for the chance to stay on the ranch, even if her boss can be a little too critical. But the longer Ivy stays, the more she sees beneath Adam’s surface and finds her heart entangled with his. When a storm hits, its violent winds wreak havoc, causing injury to Adam and ushering in unexpected visitors who turn Ivy’s world inside out. I won’t write more for fear of spoilers, but will say I enjoyed the story, setting, characters, food references, and everything about this Australian romance.
If you want A light and fun read then this is the book for you.
I enjoyed the book from the start and I have learned a few things along the way.
This author has thrown in a little bit of everything like I said later and it’s done in such a way that it makes for a great read!!
I loved the Aussie lingo that is thrown in too. It gave a feel for what their language might actually be like. To me, it almost sounds British.
Ivy is my girl. She’s brave and wants to fit in somewhere and she thinks that the ranch may be for her. She is running away from her past which is something that we can never do because it follows us whatever we go unless something is done about it. You can run but not hide for God knows and He sees.
Adam is the same.
Adam gets the shock of his life when Ivy shows up. He wasn’t expecting a woman much less not knowing a thing about the requirements of ranch life.
There some scenes where I couldn’t help myself and laughed out loud and some where I just shook my head and others well, I just wanted to knock their heads together and see which one would get up first!
I believe trust is the theme here. You have to learn to trust people but that’s really hard to do sometimes. I should know. But the one thing I do know is that I can trust my Jesus.
He’ll never do me wrong like people can.
Adam has trust issues.
I give this book 5 stars just because I went to Australia and didn’t want to come back to the present and deal with just life.
This book was an excellent road to recovery from being sick and in the hospital for almost a month because of Cellulitis.
Thank you D.j.
