First book in the four book USA Today bestselling Magnolia Steele Mystery series by the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Denise Grover Swank.Ten years ago, Magnolia Steele fled Franklin, Tennessee after an incident that left her with hazy memories and a horror of the place where she had been born and bred. Though her abrupt departure destroyed most of her treasured relationships, … relationships, she vowed never to return . . . until she has no choice. When Magnolia’s breakout acting role in a Broadway musical ends in disgrace, there’s only one place she can go. She finds herself on her momma’s porch, suitcase in hand.
Drama follows Magnolia around like a long lost friend. She reluctantly agrees to help her momma’s catering company at a party for a country music star, only to find herself face-to-face with a sleazy music agent from her past. After a very public spat, Magnolia not only finds him dead but herself center stage in the police’s investigation. Now she must scramble to prove her innocence, relying on the help of acquaintances old and new.
But the longer Magnolia stays in Franklin, the more she remembers about the big bad incident that chased her away. The past might not be finished with her yet, and what she doesn’t remember could be her biggest danger.
Four book series:
Center Stage
Act Two
Call Back
Curtain Call
more
As soon as I read Center Stage, I had to get Act Two, and now I’m quickly working my way through Call Back!
Good escape novel.
I love Denise Grover Swank’s writing style!!
Kept my interest I want to know what happens next.
It was easy read. Okay.
I don’t care for cliff hanger to get me to read the next book. If it is a good book I will be reading the next one anyway. I prefer resolution and another issue next book.
I enjoyed this book and will read the other books in this series.
Enjoyed this & intend to read more in series. Liked the main character – fun light read!
Love this author. I’d highly recommend her books. I read one, and had to buy more!
I don’t like books that start out with bad language. I don’t read past first few pages.
I read and loved the entire series of four Magnolia Steele books, and they all were great, the story is great, and unlike most books, you don’t see it coming. But you’re breathless when it comes.
This was a few hours of my time I cannot ever get back. Not only was story week but there was no true ending. Do not recommend.
Wonderful characters that the reader can relate to. I can’t wait for more of the tragic events in Franklin to surface in the next Magnolia Steele mystery!
An unexpected story with lots of interesting characters. Entertaining read. This is the second book I have enjoyed by this author.
Liked it so much that I have to get “Act Two.”
Looking forward to part 2
Kept me guessing
I completely enjoyed this book! I breezed through it as well as the two sequels! The fourth book came or yesterday and I can’t wait to start!!
I think this entire series is fantastic. I loved that the author had significant twists and turns to continually keep me guessing, yet still kept the events believable. The characters were well enough developed that I was able to completely empathize with their reactions. I could not put these books down! They do need to be read in order, as a series though. They are not stand alone.
Looking forward to #2.
