I give myself to strangers. When I’m on stage, and when I’m off it.Whether it’s throngs of screaming fans or just one man, it’s always outsiders. People who don’t know me. Not the real me.It’s easier, because then it’s not so obvious that there is no real me. Just layers of lies. Then I’m peeled back to the nerve. Showing the world my ugly. Everyone sees me for what I am.Rightfully so, they hate … am.
Rightfully so, they hate me.
Almost as much as I hate myself.
I’m willing to hate myself for what I’ve done. To wither away into some washed up old rock star.
But he doesn’t let me.
I want to hate him.
He doesn’t let me do that either.

So I’ve just finished Censored Soul…and I can honestly say that this book… Noah’s story was the perfect way to end this series. This cast of characters has been one of my absolute favorites & even though I’m sad to see them go; this ending was exactly how it should be…unique, wonderful and full of all the magic that only Anne Malcom can write.
Noah and Gideon’s story was full of so many emotions…so much darkness, tragedy and rock bottoms. Their journey to happily ever after was definitely not an easy one…because how can you let love in when you don’t really know how to love yourself? Censored Soul was such an honest, raw & real read with a one-of-a kind spin on M/M romance. Full of family, forgiveness and love; this was such an emotional journey that you go on with these two…with all of these characters really; and I cannot say enough how absolutely wonderful this book and this series is.
Noah, oh Noah, my heart bled for you as well as everyone else who suffered with you but you especially, you poor tortured soul.
As much as this story does rip your heart out, twist it then try to tear it to pieces, there are some lighter moments and Mia highlights some of the wittiest as well as Sam, got to love Sam!
The complete baring of Noah’s soul, his absolute raw honesty and his self flagellation was at times hard to take but then again a refreshing change in a character, too. His other is without doubt a shiny gem, occasionally tarnished true, but oh my what a treasure.
These characters altogether make for one incredible series and this novella is the icing on the book cake.
5 Unquiet Minds Stars
Censored Soul is the fifth and final book in the Unquiet Mind series by Anne Malcom. I was hesitant to read this book because is is a MM novel and although they are usually grand to read there not my jam. But its Anne so you know I was giving it a pass and jumping on that band wagon. Well I’m so glad I did, read in one sitting and what a book hangover I had the morning after.
Noah is broken but not one of his band mates would know it as he hides it deep within. The drugs and the one night stands are what get him through life. One giant mistake lands him in rehab, where he has to face himself and his demons.
“You’ve just been addicted to losing yourself in strangers so you don’t have to become familiar with yourself.”
Censored Soul was such a heartbreaking, soul searching, dark and heartbreaking read. It killed me in parts but so worth it. I highly recommend the read. I’m sad to see the end of this series but I know we’ll get plenty more quality books from Ann in the future so I’ll be grand LOL
I have no words to describe just how much I loved this book! It was deeply, emotionally haunting and beautiful. I’ve read every book in this series and this one brought it all full circle for me. It’s one of my top reads this year. Noah’s story is so well done that I couldn’t stop reading once I started. I read it in one sitting. His story shows real struggles and harsh battles. That said you also get beauty and love. So much love in this book to go along with the pain. And that ending is perfection! This series just like all her others will be reread by me over and over again. And I cannot wait to see what comes next. This story is a brilliant example of why Anne is a 1-click author for me.
This was a beautifully well written slow burn romance that I truly enjoyed. The pain , heartache and love that I felt while reading this story was quite beautiful. Anne Malcom is definitely one of my favorite authors and never fails to deliver and boy did she ever in this book ! Brilliantly written and definitely a 5 star read !
I have been waiting and waiting for Noah’s story and she saved the best for last. This was was the hardest to read in the series for me because it tackled some seriously heavy subjects. At his lowest he met Gideon and I was rooting for them as soon as they met. They are totally perfect for each other but they sure had to go through some major things to get the ending that they so deserved. What an amazing way to end a series and the wait was definitely worth it.
This book was absolutely amazing I loved it so much.
Y’all I knew, I freaking knew that Censored Soul was gonna be epic. I also knew that it was going to be freaking brutal. Like ugly cry until you don’t have another freaking tear to cry, two boxes of tissues, fifteen candy bars, and three two-year-old worthy kindle throw tantrums later kind of brutal. Ya feel me?
That was Noah’s story. BRU-TAL.
But it was also one of the most heartbreakingly beautiful novels I’ve ever seen grace a page. Anne Malcom Killed it. Noah’s story was everything I wanted it to be and more. So freaking much more.
Unquiet Mind isn’t just any rock band story, they are a family, a family of misfits bound together through love and losses. There’s is a story of how no matter what, a family of your chosing will never truly stop loving you or abandon you.
Noah has finally succumb to his hurt and behaviour and his actions has him hurting his faimily in what feels like a unforgiving way. A beautifully written heartwarming raw emotional love story between
I’ve waited for Noah’s book. I knew his story would be the rawest in the series. I had to prepare for his truths. It’s compelling, heartbreaking and redeeming. He’s made mistakes. Huge ones, life altering choices that could’ve lead to tragedies no one could recover from but he learned that it was the catalyst to regaining and rebuilding his life. Being a rock star is amazing. The attention, the luxuries, the adoration can be overwhelming but the down side is your life is no longer your own. People pull at you, expect from you and push you to lengths you never knew you’d go. This leads to torturing yourself with over indulging. Noah over indulged one time too many. His addictions didn’t only hurt and destroy his life it now has destroyed everything his band built together. Will they still support him? Can they survive this accident? Who will help save him? But, most important can he save himself?
Catching up with Quiet Minds was like going home to see family. Each story brought you into their fold. M/M stories are becoming a favorite of mine because they bring a different dynamic of sharing love that allows you an insight into how two men can love each other while still trying to accept their life choices and what lead them to their truths.
Anne’s books always bring forth so many emotions. This final book in this series is by far the hardest on the heart. Her ability to create characters that are broken is awe inspiring. Noah has touched my heart.
His challenges became mine. His losses touched mine. An author’s ability to create this for their readers is why her books are always a must read.
Even though it can be read as a stand alone you’d want to read the whole series. You’ll find a home with Anne’s books that you’ll never want to leave.
No spoilers of any kind included.
Another amazing story by the awesome Anne Malcom but that’s nothing unusual since all her books are amazingly beautiful!
Censored Soul I thought was pure awesomeness!
So it’s definitely going to be a big HECK YEAH I do recommend this book, heck I recommend the whole series because I loved it and I know you will too!
Anne Malcom!
This is my message to an author who has brought us through so many amazing characters that have lived complete and thoughtful lives.
With the 5th book in your Unquiet Minds series, Censored Soul, I recognize and proudly proclaim that you are truly the Queen of Words!
I can feel the pull of Noah, hear his heartbeat, agonize with his decisions, and question his sanity, in the throws of his changing direction as his finds his own North.
Unquiet Minds is a band, but this series is a lifetime of friends, whose loyalty is tested, and whose soul damaging and reclaiming is the truest reflection of their love of one another.
When there’s a series you love so very much, and the final book comes, it’s scary to start. Will it end like you hope? Like it needs? Censored Soul is perfection on paper. The cover, the words…right through the final epilogue. Anne Malcom did write a sweet finale that neatly wrapped up everything in a bow. She wrote the truth. Noah’s truth.
This is NOT a standalone. PLEASE don’t pick it up until you’ve read Unquiet Minds from the beginning (or better yet, after book 3 of Sons of Templar). Censored Soul is purely Noah. But you won’t – you can’t – appreciate the lie he’s been living if you don’t meet him from the beginning. Ever the solid foundation for others, his own foundation is quicksand. Until it finally sucks him under for good. It takes near tragedy for him to find his truth. And a lot of work, hardship and pain to learn to live it.
Wow, get ready for an incredibly raw and emotional read in the final book in the Unquiet Mind series, Censored Soul! Noah’s book may be a novella, but it absolutely is not missing any of the heart and soul you crave. Anne Malcom delivers an angsty and intense ride that’s both heart string pulling as it is healing. Censored Soul is sure to move you and steal your heart, forever.
I don’t even know where to start. This book was so hauntingly beautiful. I’ve read over 600 books this year alone and I can honestly say without a doubt this is the best book I’ve read all year, one of my top reads of all time. The story Anne gave for Noah was so well done that I couldn’t stop reading. His story isn’t one of beauty and grace, but of real-life and struggles so many battle. The ending, perfect! The way she wrapped up this series was nothing short of brilliant. I truly wish I could go back and read it for the first time again.
When you read a series and it’s as good as Unquiet Mind you wonder how it could ever end. How can the dysfunction, caring, togetherness and loyalties; with each and everyone of these characters pulling a heart string that is connected and yet separate from one another that I look forward to reading and hoping they all continue making it through make the impact to end. Then I read Noah and see how it is the quiet ones that are truly disabled and hide behind what they believe no one can see; I fell in love with Noah over and over, his raw strengths and weaknesses were put through the test, bringing him full circle and allowing him to live a life he never expected, but one he believed he didn’t deserve yet giving him the missing piece he needed to become whole. This was the perfect end to an amazing series that I will continue to love. Great job Anne Malcom, you are a beautiful sole.
Censored Soul is the fifth and final book in this series. Firstly, I just want to say that I’m fairly new to m/m stories. I did read stories with m/m scenes but with FMC as their center and truly enjoyed it. But never have I read a full on m/m full length novel. However, Ms Malcom, in her true fashion, handled this story with delicate execution and beautiful writing.
This story is raw, angst filled, and all the feels that went straight down to my soul. I felt that my heart will burst out of my chest with all of the emotions I went through Noah’s story. Overall, a perfect ending to this series!
This was the perfect ending to the Unique Mind series. I have been waiting for Noah’s book and it was amazing. This book is one I will remember for a long time. It was heartbreakingly beautiful and a perfect ending to the series.
I haven’t read the other books in this series, however I found it very attention grabbing. I quickly became immersed in the story. You learn a lot about the other bandmates which gives insight into the main character. I plan to go back and read the other books after reading this one. There are hard subjects addressed within this story including drug abuse. Congratulations on a story well told.
This is such a bittersweet feeling writing this review because it’s the last of the Unquiet Minds books however Anne has given her characters an absolutely phenomenal ending. I remember reading the first book and becoming hooked on the band and their antics and nothing has changed about my love for them.
I always had my suspicions that Noah’s story would wreck me and I was right but I honestly believe this was the story he deserved. It’s not pretty at times it was hard to read through the tears but as strange as this may seem it was such a beautiful real heartfelt story. Anne didn’t take it easy on her readers but she gave us Noah’s story, his truth warts and all. There are so many things I love about this series but the true friendships, the bonds the guys have and the extended they have built is my favourite. I know this is the end but you never know we may get a next generation at some point in the future.
