A doctor’s life gets turned upside by a dangerous new technology in this thought-provoking medical thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Robin Cook.George Wilson, M.D., a radiology resident in Los Angeles, is about to enter a profession on the brink of an enormous paradigm shift, foreshadowing a vastly different role for doctors everywhere. The smartphone is poised to take on a new … poised to take on a new role in medicine, no longer as a mere medical app but rather as a fully customizable personal physician capable of diagnosing and treating even better than the real thing. It is called iDoc.
George’s initial collision with this incredible innovation is devastating. He awakens one morning to find his fiancée dead in bed alongside him, not long after she participated in an iDoc beta test. Then several of his patients die after undergoing imaging procedures. All of them had been part of the same beta test.
Is it possible that iDoc is being subverted by hackers—and that the U.S. government is involved in a cover-up? Despite threats to both his career and his freedom, George relentlessly seeks the truth, knowing that if he’s right, the consequences could be lethal.

Thought-provoking
Robin cook has been my favorite medical thriller writer. His knowledge of anatomy, diseases are a great page turner. I’ve been reading most of these books 4o yrs.
Cell and mutation : the conflict is powerful. A must read
Really enjoy most of Robin Coops books and this one ranked right up there with the best. Interesting premise and scary that it could really happen.
Like other Robin Cook books, this one will make you stop and think what could happen if ???????
Scary thing is this is happening already.
Scary only in the sense that it could be true. Dr’s have lost control over health care. Well written!
Great action!
Love reading Robin Cook.
The story was unique about iDoc, internet based primary care. There were a few twists but not one of his better books. I wanted to kick George in the butt several times the way he acted and felt sorry for himself. His motivations or lack thereof were revealed much later in the book and did not really justify his behavior. His character while sensitive was a bit lame. Overall the book had a good flow, but is left open at the end, so it really wasn’t a complete book. Again, not the Cook books I remember.
Never read a Robin Cook I didn’t like.
Robin Cook books are among my favorite. I have not been disappointed yet.
Great read. Tragedy turned mystery turned victory.
I love medical mysteries! This one kept me from being able to put the book down.
A little scary, especially if you are a little paranoid.
As you read this book and think about the speed of digital technology, artificial intelligence and nano technology and follow the headlines about hackers, data mining and intrusions into privacy, it is inspiring but also scary. It is not hard to imagine the cell phone taking a greater role in diagnostic medicine and management and treatment of acute or chronic illness….but the dangers are real and not always easy to anticipate. Great read that will leave you with a lot of questions and points for discussion. Highly recommend
NOT his best. Unlike his other work, I found this something of a snooze. The action is confusing, the characters are cardboard, and the pace is tedious.
I’m a big fan of Robin Cook and I really enjoyed this book as I know it is fiction but it seemed it really could happen — scary
I love Robin Cook..there’s a twist around every corner.
This book left me with so much to think about. It could be happening tomorrow.
kept me up at night…….. Oh yes
