Matthew Hansen is the kind of handsome that has grown women whispering behind their hands and giggling like schoolgirls.Dark, tall and mysterious, he’s a newcomer to our little town. He’s a gritty, grease-covered mechanic, and a single daddy.Sweet, right?Plus, he’s looking for a nanny – and I am desperately looking for a job.Sounds like the perfect deal.Only he’s a jerk. An uncivilized, hulking … he’s a jerk. An uncivilized, hulking brute. Zero manners. Zero interest in making me feel welcome in his home. Downright rude.
But oh, so sexy.
And I need the job. I can do this.
One thing is for sure: I can’t fall for the Caveman. No matter how sexy he is. How mysterious. How tortured.
That’s the only rule – and one I’m about to break.

JO DID IT AGAIN!!!! This book was so amazing in so many different ways. She knew exactly what heart strings to pull and when, I mean we really got a full roller coaster of emotions on this one. There were moments where I wanted to punch someone, MANY moments where I wanted to hug Matt and moments where I thought for sure I’d start sobbing. Matt was so different than any character I’ve ever seen, and really different than any other single dad story I’ve read. And Octavia, She was so wonderful! She was so strong and so amazing with the children. Every bit of this story was absolutely perfect. I can’t wait to read it again!
This is one HEA that is a must read! Matt and Tay nearly melted my ereader with the off the charts chemistry and steamy scenes. Matt is haunted by his memory of late wife and is determined to hide away and just do anything and everything to bury away his past and his pain. The only problem with that current life plan is his 2 kids, Mary and Cole, whom he desperately needs help with. Enter Tay, sweet and fresh faced exactly what Matt’s kids need at this troubling time in their lives but the tempting morsel is more than the self-loathing Matt really wants to deal with, but what choice does he really have! The pull is too strong to ignore and soon there is no unringing the proverbial bell and Matt will need to not only face his past demons but current ones as well if he wants to keep his family from falling to pieces again. With a crazy psycho stalker on the loose and Matt’s demons there is shortage of twists and turns to keep your entranced from beginning till end.
Loved this book
One of my favorite books and Jo Raven is my new favorite author.
I was wondering when if we would get to read Matt’s story. This was way more than I expected. He was so standoffish, mean at times and I could not blame him for hurting. Ups, downs, lust, romance. What a great story.
Loved this book. I devoured it very very quickly.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a possessive alpha male story.
5 Stars!!! to Caveman by author Jo Raven.
Matt and Tay (Octavia)…….
Once again Jo Raven has me completely 100% in love with her book! Truth? When I have a new book from Jo Raven, I expect it to be perfect. Because it always is.
Her writing style, her plot, her characters are all always flawed with tortured souls; a past that will gut you. My connection to her characters are there from the first pages. I can’t explain my relationship with Jo’s books but I can tell you she is literally on my top favorite author’s list. I have said many times, of her characters, that Asher (from Inked Brotherhood) was my favorite. He still is but Matt is literally right behind him.
Do I have to read the blurb before I one click Jo Raven? The answer is a resounding “no!”
Matt is a single father. He lost his wife to cancer and several years later he still struggles with deep grief, pain, and loss. It is a struggle for him to get out of bed everyday. But he does it because he knows that his two adorable children need their daddy. Unfortunately Matt is the epitome of a rude, gruff, grumpy and mean jerk. Despite his attitude, I never doubted how much he loved his children.
Matt realizes he needs help with his children. He needs someone to watch and care for them while he is at work everyday. Matt needs a nanny.
What he doesn’t need is a kind, beautiful, too young woman.
Octavia…Tati…Tay…..
Tay is perfect for Matt and his children despite how young she is. The author does a superb job of matching Matt with his savior. There is constant chemistry and tension between them. Matt is not very nice to her. And even though Tay has her own troubled past, she is always concerned first and foremost for Matt and his two adorable children.
I won’t say much more because I don’t want to give away any spoilers. I can and will tell you that Matt and Tay have several obstacles to overcome before they have their happily ever after. This book has angst, some suspense, secondary characters that add even more depth to the story, and even some suspense with a bit of danger added. All around this book had everything.
AND…..We get a visit from some old friends that we love from Jo’s other books!
If you haven’t read anything by this author yet, I recommend you do! I promise you won’t be sorry. I have been one of Jo’s biggest fans since her first book, Asher. And more than 20 books later, I am still am.
This review is from my heart; honest and unbiased.
Wow! I love this author and everything she puts down on paper and this book is no exception. It’s heartbreaking, sad but happy and sexy all rolled into one great read!!
This book takes us on a. Journey with Matt as he struggles with 2 young children and being able to be a good father but needing to grieve at the same time. He desperately needs help and struggles to find it until he meets Octavia. She is young but desperate to earn a living to help her family. Together Matt and Octavia help each other in this beautiful heartbreaking story. I loved every moment of this journey and give it 5stars!
This one was different from the previous books I’ve read of Jo Raven. The beginning for me felt a bit off but after the first chapter, I warmed up to it. I liked the chemistry between Matt and Octavia; loved the kids in the story 🙂
Matt has moved to another town with his two kids to get away from his troubled past but no matter what it haunts him still. And no matter what he tries to do, his kids seem so detached from him that he doesn’t see another way than to hire a nanny to take care of them while he starts working at his new job. But the past seems to creep up on him and when not only his family is in danger, he grows closer to Octavia which puts her in the crossfire too.
Will he finally be able to put his past to rest? … (
Was a good read, I didn’t realize it came with more stories, didn’t like the 2nd one, it was just too dark.
Matt is such a tortured soul. His emotions are so vivid, so painful throughout the book, that you can’t help but hurt for him. He has been through something horrible, and he is finally trying to drag himself out of the despair that haunts him, if only for his kids. Then he meets Octavia. She drags him kicking and screaming back into the land of the living. Octavia is an amazing, giving character, that has had her own share of trauma, but is a purely beautiful soul. She deserves a happy ever after, just as much as Matt. That they are able to overcome his past, her past, and a host of other drama to be together, is just amazing. This book was well written, with well developed characters, and an amazing story line that captures your feelings right from the beginning! This is the first story that Ive read by this author, but will definitely not be the last!
Enjoyed the read. The characters were believable. The story moved along, no lagging of the story line.
