Inconvenient woman. Convenient marriage.
The only child of an oil mogul, Rose Kingsbrier should’ve had it all. That changed the day her momma died, leaving her to live a solitary life in a mansion that was more like a mausoleum.
Rose tried for years to get her father’s attention, eventually finding it easier to become Eric Kingsbrier’s source of grief than to live in grief’s shadow. … than to live in grief’s shadow. Convinced that she’s irresponsible, now Rose’s father intends to marry her off. But she won’t let him barter her away that easily.
Ross Cavanaugh’s construction business is renovating the Kingsbrier mansion and, before the job’s even started, he’s swept up in Rose’s schemes. The southern heiress is a hot ticket and easy-going Ross enjoys their budding friendship until Rose proposes a marriage of convenience to solve her problem and provide Cavanaugh Construction financial backing. Rose may not mind dragging her reputation through the mud, but Ross has worked too hard to be accused of fortune hunting. When Rose gets herself in over her head, agreeing to her offer may be the only way to save her.
The slowburn romance prequel to the Kingsbrier Quintuplets.

This book starts off slow but once I got into it I stayed up well past my bedtime to finish it. I give this a solid 3.5 stars. I just needed to see how it worked out for them. The bonus chapter was totally unnecessary and seems too-too SJW…just not needed. I noticed several grammatical issues with missing words, wrong words and scrambled sentences that I had to try to figure out what the author actually meant to write…please get a good editor.
Truly amazing… I loved reading this novel… It had the perfect mixture of good and bad attitudes in it… The characters now they were just downright funny at times and then serious at other times… the plot and the storyline are truly amazing…

I adore this!! I read this book after reading the first three books in the series, but you can read it first. This is the story of the Quints’s parents. I LOVE THIS! The back story was just as amazing as the kids’s story! I cannot love this book anymore!
A drama-filled story, I found it a bit slow in the beginning, but it definitely picked up as the story progressed. The attraction between them was clear. I liked how the character attempted to gain her father’s attention. I didn’t like how he ignored her wishes and I really didn’t like what happened to her. I didn’t feel it necessary to the story. Maybe it allowed the story to move in a new direction. I guess we will never know. I did like the story overall, though. It was a beautiful story.

Loved reading Russ and Rose’s love story. An emotional read about a girl trying to find her place in the world and the man who helped her. All throughout out the book I was trying to find these quintuplets and finally fugured it out. I wished they were introduced in the end. Still a great engaging read. Recommended read. Want to read the rest of the series.

I’ve never read anything by this author before. It’s a good story about a woman finding her place in life. There are some hard to read parts. The book was kind of slow for me.

Life lessons on how love wins out in the end…
Reading the start of the book, it pulls you it and becomes a very interesting tale of life, love and how things you never expect can happen when you’re not looking. For Ross and Rose that’s exactly what happens, the flow of the two stubborn will have you laughing and crying at the same time.
This was a really good story that dealt with a lot of truths about the time period. It also dealt with rape and thought the author did a good job with this portion but I think readers need to be aware in case they cannot read about this type of thing. I liked Rose and Ross a lot! The dynamics of their relationship was wonderful. This is a very realistic story. I really enjoyed the story and the characters; well with the exception of the creep.

A well-written story that once I was started I was not putting down until I had finished. Rose Kingsbrier had so much that she has to endure and one of them is the misunderstanding in her marriage to Ross Cavanaugh. I would recommend this book. Rose has a troubled relationship with her father trying to marry her off for business. She is not having it.
Ross is in construction, his dads company, remodeling the kitchen at Roses dad;s mansion.
They flirted at the rodeo but both felt some what threatened by the attraction they felt and decided not to pursue it.
Imagine their suprise when they meet again at the mansion.
The journey these two take has many twists and turns, even some out right violence to overcome. So as you read this story you will be intrigued, suprised, and captivated, so don’t the slow start stop you from reading, it picks up and holds your attention after the 5th chapter.
