One California girl.
One Canadian boy.
One week.
No strings.
Two years later and he’s back.
Nothing much had changed.
Except this time, he was here to stay.
I was glued to my kindle from the very beginning with the wonderfully written storyline and characters that were so likable, believable and so engaging that Easton and Tanner kept me totally enthralled until the very last page!

This is beautiful story focused on love and a second chance.
It is the type of story that clutches you at once and does not release you until you get to the end – then you find yourself pining over the fact that the book has ended.
I loved how the relationship unfolded so we could see these amazing characters grow in ways they never expected.

Ever since I first picked up Ms.Leigh’s work last year I’ve been looking forward to reading more of her books! When this one was announced it piqued my curiosity and I knew that I needed to read it next!
The prologue grabbed my attention and from that point on I wanted to know more. I felt so many different things throughout with these characters! I really enjoyed this story!

She works in a surf shop – he’s a college student. She doesn’t do relationships. Good thing – he’s Canadian, visiting California on school break, and going home in a week. Feelings develop that neither of them expect. When he goes home, two hearts are broken. Fast forward two years… He gets a job in California. He wants her back. And he’s willing to wait until she’s ready for him. This was a fun book to read – full of interesting characters. Easton and Tanner have a fun way about them, complete with witty banter. I think that she’s a little too hard on him when he moves to CA, and her mixed signals are frustrating to him. I think that the ending was a bit rushed, but not a deal-breaker for me – I still loved the book. Easton’s friends are fun and quirky, and I hope we get to see their stories soon.

Caught Inside is the perfect summer romance read. Easton is a California girl through and through. Tanner is a somewhat shy Canadian on Spring Break with friends. These two cross paths and end up spending the week together. She introduces him to surfing while he introduces her to spending more than one night with the same person. Unfortunately, life must go on, which means Easton stays in Cali and Tanner returns to Canada.
What happens when you cannot forget such a memorable week? What happens when you leave your heart in a small coastal town? What happens when you are offered a job in said small coastal town? You must read this incredible book to find out if Easton and Tanner get a second chance!

Kristie Leigh is a storyteller!
Not only did I fall in love with this stunning cover for Caught Inside, but I also fell in love with the words that make up Easton and Tanner’s story. Easton is full of sass and determination. Simply put, she’s not budging when it comes to falling in love. Even when it’s someone like Tanner. The two of them hit it off, despite her carefree lifestyle, but no matter how hard Tanner tries to win her over, Easton is about as stubborn as they come. And despite their few years age difference, Easton knows that Tanner must return to school in Canada when their week together is over. So why let the heart get involved, right? I love a strong heroine that is hell-bent on what she wants and Leigh did that with Easton.
This is such a sweet story with a captivating storyline that I simply couldn’t put down. For sure, it was more than just your typical beach read! Leigh’s writing will embrace you something fierce and you’ll find yourself pulling for Easton and Tanner to find their happily ever after. Great read with lots of emotions! Five stars from beginning to end!

Caught Inside was a fun and sexy beach read. The push & pull between Easton & Tanner is so intense that it keeps guessing as what is going to happen. Fate tears these two apart and they are reunited again after 2 years and Tanner is here to stay. The chemistry and connection between this two is off the charts hot and I love seeing them together. This was the perfect summer beach read.

Tanner. Can we get anymore cuter with this Canadian? I mean seriously I want to pack my bags and find this guy because he just made my heart pitter patter all over the place.
This was a sweet little past/ present instalove romance. While I’m not the biggest fan of instalove I found my drawn to the pair. I found myself loving Easton wit, personality and non traditional approach to a female lead. Meaning she didn’t dress up, make up wasn’t her thing and she was just so down to earth. It really was great to see a female lead portrayed as Strong and independent.
I wasn’t 100% sold on the ending and I think that was more because I felt really invested in the character and I was sad to see it drawing to an end. I truly hope Leigh plans to turn this into a series because I’d love to follow the stories of the rest of the cast.
If I had to compare this to a book to anthers similarity wise I would say think Jamie McGuire’s Beautiful Disaster but add the beach and the and waves.
Seriously though this book can be easily be picked up and swept away, especially for those who love the summer vibes.

I was given this book by the author in return for an honest review
This was the first book I have read from this author and I am so glad that I did, i will definitely be adding her to my list of authors i love.
This book was set in a little town in California and is the perfect setting for a great summer read. This book was such an easy read and was full of fun, witty humour, charm, love, sexy, cute and of course romantic, with some great sex scenes thrown in to the mix.
The chemistry between Easton and Tanner was incredible, you just really got it! You just were pulling for them to get together.
This book started as a holiday fling, one that made both of them feel things they have never felt. Especially the feisty Easton! That girl is a no strings queen, how dare Tanner make her feel these foreign feelings!! Luckily though it was only for a week and then life could get back to normal!! Or could it?
Fast forward 2 years later and squeeze in a whole lot of heart break and here Tanner is making her feel everything again. She certainly put up a fight and was determined not to fall in love, ah well it happens to the best of us
I really enjoyed seeing Easton get out her comfort zone and try go with her heart. I loved the influence Joe had on her and love that he gave it to her straight and told her to get out of her head.
I loved the ending of this book immensely and loved their HEA.

Kristie Leigh is a new to me author. This was a great first book to jump into though.
The cover really caught my attention first – it’s gorgeous. The write up/summary on the book hooked me though.
Caught Inside is a story of a hard shelled girl who doesn’t let anyone in, who is emotionally knocked off her axis by a Canadian boy vacationing in her town. It sweeps you into a quick burn, quick feeling relationship…slows you down…and then saves you in the end. A love conquers all plot.
Easton is our pink haired hard as nails surfer chick heroine. Tanner is our laid back male lead with a heart of gold.
Our story is set in small town, coastal California. Tanner is visiting Easton’s small hometown during the Canadian version of spring break. (Reading Week). The connection between our two characters is instant and grows stronger the longer the week wears on. Tanner starts to chip away at Easton’s walls the more time he spends with her. Easton struggles with having strong feelings for another person when she’s worked hard to close that part of herself off for years. Easton doesn’t let people in.
The push and pull of their week long relationship is intense…and then Tanner has to leave.
Two years, and no communication between our lovers later; Tanner reappears in Easton’s life. He’s graduated college and starts a job with a company near her town. Tanner admits that being able to come back to Easton plays a huge role in his career decision.
The author then takes us through the second part of the pair’s relationship. Easton cut off communication with Tanner, but he still has strong feelings for her. Tanner struggles with rebuilding trust and openness with Easton while she struggles with how to express and accept her feelings.
Overall this was a well written book and a great read. The characters stayed true to themselves for the length of the novel, and banter between characters was engaging and fun. Nothing lagged.
There are a few things that I would like to see tweaked, but they aren’t show stoppers for me. Honestly they probably would make the book itself into a duet – which have read well.
The main issues I had came in the second half of the book, once Tanner returns.
Tanner and Easton caught fire quickly in the first half. They worked things through and really opened up to one another. The relationship moved at a decent pace and was interacting.
In the back end of novel, their relationship seems choppier. It’s as if they’ve taken huge steps backwards. Every possible emotional hurtle seems to throw Easton into a tail spin and leaves Tanner hanging.
I can understand some of this, as time has passed and both have grown, but it just all felt rushed and packed in. I would have liked the issues, relationship regrowth and growing to be worked out a bit more.
Additionally the author throws in a bit too many major life changes in for our characters. These detracted from the earlier story telling, but didn’t detract from the characters themselves – they remained true to form. I think these same events could have been explored a little bit more and been worked into the plot smoothly.
The one thing that did begin to bother me, and I don’t usually touch on this, was the sex scenes.
During the first half of the novel, the sexual relationship between Easton and Tanner seems natural. In the second half, sex seems to used as a way for Easton to get past her reservations or her fears. This does fit her character type, but I began to feel like every little thing was solved magically by sex. The characters never actually resolve their issues, it’s just bed and on to the next like nothing was wrong.
Easton and Tanner are supported by a great cast of characters. Easton in particular has a crew of her “girls” and two brothers that she is close with. These five characters remain integral to the story through out and stand on their own. I’d like to see them in future stories. Tanner originally came to California with his two best friends. The descriptions and interactions the guys have is somewhat superficial. They don’t really evolve into Tanner’s story and one seems to just be “that jerk”. I think this is another area where the author could have fleshed them out a bit more, but it would have added to the length of the novel.
Overall I really enjoyed this read. I will be looking into other books that this author has published. I’d really love to see Easton’s “girls” have their own stories so we can see Easton and Tanner again.
I would recommend this as a great summer read. Go into it with the mindset that this is a love conquers all story. Even for hard shelled, kick assed, pink haired surfer chicks.

Tanner and Easton’s story hooked me from just reading the blurb. I have to admit, being a Canadian who, in her (much)younger days, met a guy in California and had a fling with him that remains a fond memory, this story was pretty much destined to suck me in.
In Caught Inside, it’s the guy who is visiting California from Canada instead of the girl. Tanner is a student from Ontario and visits the small town of Pahokee, California during Reading Week (which made me laugh, because Reading Week is TOTALLY a thing at Canadian universities, but Americans have never heard of it.) Easton had no clue what he was talking about when he mentioned it. Basically it’s a week off from college sometime around February.
Tanner and his buddies meet Easton and her friends on their first night in California, and the connection between them is intense from the start. Easton, being completely relationship-averse, initially wants to pull her usual “wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am – er sir” routine. He surprises her by not pushing to sleep with her on the first night even though they end up alone in his hotel room.
At the end of their week together, they have fallen firmly in love – but neither one will say it. Easton is so devastated when he leaves, and so shocked at her own devastation, that she cuts off all contact with Tanner. He can’t even call or text her to keep in touch. She just assumes she will never see him again.
Until 2 years later when he walks into the shop where she works and announces that he just moved to town.
Tanner doesn’t have any expectations that they will be able to pick up where they left off, but he does have hope. Easton is initially terrified to open herself up to a possible relationship, but Tanner is impossible to resist.
Tanner is so patient with Easton, and so sweet and kind that I fell in love completely. Towards the end it’s Easton that surprises Tanner with a leap of faith into their future, which I loved. Caught Inside is a sweet story to escape into – I absolutely recommend it!

Easton is a surfer girl living her life on her own terms. She isn’t too keen on labels or commitment. When she meets Tanner a student on a holiday they embark on a passionate fling. When the week comes to an end they both go their separate ways. The story frustrated me because I really wanted to love it but parts just didn’t do it for me. I like a strong woman but Easton was hard work and I never really warmed to her. I had no problem with her sexual relationships but at times her dialogue was too ladish for me. Tanner was definitely my favourite of the two he was such a sweetheart and more relatable. This book just had something missing for me.
