Fire captain Cameron McClain dropped into my life with as much subtlety as an unsolicited d*ck pic. I shouldn’t be attracted to him, but I am. He’s too old for me, too alpha for my tastes, and too bossy in the bedroom. Though, I have to admit he knows exactly how to use his . . . firehose.I’m not interested in a forever kind of relationship, but he’s down for whatever I’m willing to give. Our … willing to give. Our arrangement is perfect. At least that’s how it begins. I never wanted the happily ever after, but he’s just so tempting.
The smart choice would be to end things before they combust, but for some reason I can’t push Cam away. The harder I try, the harder he–well, you get the picture.
I wish things were different. I want to be someone worthy of his devotion. But the secrets I hold close, they don’t just eat me up inside, they destroy anyone who gets too close.
So, I won’t fall in love. Simple, right?
Wrong. So freaking wrong. I don’t just fall. I crash and burn for this man. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Turns out I’m not the only one telling lies and keeping secrets, and his are enough to rip us apart forever.
Caught in the Lies reads as standalone but readers can enjoy Cam and Jill’s FREE prequel, One Hot Night, available now or begin with Callie’s book in Caught in the Flames.

Instant attraction has a learning curve. For Cam and Jill the detour comes with a touch of heartache, a hint of humor and a dash of misunderstandings. Caught in the Lies forces you to laugh through your tears. Shea grabs hold of the senses from the first hello to the final goodbye and long after the romance is done.
Once I started listening to this story I couldn’t put it down. The chemistry between Cam and Jill was off the charts They both had secrets that keep your interest in the story because you wanted to know what both of them were hiding. They had a rough journey and I was really invested in their story. This book was all Jill’s point of view and Savannah did a great job capturing both characters emotions. Jason Clarke narrated Cam’s voice messages and although his part was small the narration was incredible. Definitely recommend this one!
This book picks up where One Hot Night left off. Jill and Cameron’s story becomes clearer but it is a journey of lies and half truths. I love this couple they are so complex in what they believe is true and what they are truly fighting for. I can’t wait for more from this series as it has become a favorite of mine.
My first book by Kacey Shea and won’t be my last. Caught in the Lies is a sssssssexy intense story full of angst, emotion and drama personified. It’s hopeful and devastating, with a well-built plot along with twists and turns that make you go HMMMM. The character development was extremely good. Savannah Peachwood and Jason Clarke are grand!! #AudiobookObsessionReviewer
So the story was very heavy on the angst and inner dialogue on the female and that was sometimes a bit hard to handle but once the couple broke their personal damns to open up about their past the story was smooth sailing.
I really enjoyed the flow of the story and there were some small interesting twists the female character dealt with along the way.
The end was lovely and very fitting for these two
Since this was mostly the heroines POV it was mostly narrated by Savannah Peachwood and I simply adore her. She is super talented and super adorable all rolled into one lol
And Jason Clarke popped in here and there to have some hero POV. Love his voice. Smooth and mellow
Even though Jill and Cam had an age difference, it did not seem to be a big part of the story at all. They each had secrets that would be revealed and finding out what those secrets were and how the other would respond was the catch to the story. I could not put it down. Cam and Jill fit together and even though they wanted to keep it casual, I was secretly hoping for more for them. Kacey Shea writes romances that tug at your heart, that make you smile and make you want love. Caught in the lies is that and so much more. I hung on every word and I cannot wait to read more in this series.
Savannah Peachwood and Jason Clarke are a great narrating team. They have complimentary voices that kept the story flowing. Savannah and Jason brought Jill and Cam to life. They narrated all the feels so that I felt everything the characters did. Overall, the narration was amazing and enhanced the story.
Caught in the Lies can be read as a stand alone novel, however I would recommend starting with the first book in the series because I really enjoyed it and it would be more enjoyable read them in order.
When I read Caught in the Flames, the first book in the Caught series, I was impressed with its storyline and wanted to continue the series. I switched to Audible for Caught in the Lies. When I started playing the introduction and heard that it was performed by Savannah Peachwood AND Jason Clarke—two of my absolute favorite narrators—I was thrilled. (I may have jumped up and down just a little bit. And maybe cheered. Thank God I was home alone at the time.)
Cam was not one of my favorite characters from the first book, however, Jason Clarke as Cam’s voice gave me a more positive impression of Cam. Great narration adds another dimension to the story and brings the characters to life. Both Savannah Peachwood and Jason Clarke convey the characters’ feelings in their words.
Caught in the Lies was a little more predictable than Caught in the Flames, but it still had more complexity to the story than just a romantic relationship. I’m looking forward to the next in the series coming out later this year and I’ll be reading other stories by Kasey Shea while I wait.

Caught in the Lies is the story of Jill and “Cam the Man”, who have a casual type relationship, full of steamy encounters and laid back fun. Jill wasn’t really interested in settling down or looking for anything serious, and Cam for the most part seemed to go along with what she wanted, despite him being many more years older than her and more settled in his career.
I really enjoyed the friendship and bond Jill was able to form with her friends that was highlighted in the book, and I loved the back and forth banter between Cam and Jill and the chemistry that was so palpable between them. One of my very favorite parts of the books was the messages that Cam left himself. Even though they stemmed from a place of fear and uncertainty, I think there was something truly beautiful in them.
As the title of the book suggests, I was waiting for secrets or lies to be exposed, and boy were they doozies. I will admit they threw me for a loop a bit. I really enjoyed that while Jill and Cam had a casual relationship, when push came to shove, they really laid everything out and worked hard to communicate with each other and work through their issues so that they could go on to have a happily ever after.
This was my first book by the author and I really enjoyed the overall story line and the author’s writing style. I look forward to reading more by this author in the future.

Caught in the Lies
By: Kacey Shea
Narrated by: Savannah Peachwood, Jason Clarke
Kacey Shea delivers another awesome romance novel in her “Caught” series, a series of stand alone books. The book is well written with interesting storylines that captivating from start to end. The characters are likable and easy to relate to, there is great chemistry between the two leads Jill Bennet and Cameron McClain. What starts as a no strings relationships turns into so much more. But they have issues, Jill is afraid of commitments and Cameron has a lot more going on in his life then Jill knows. Jill is also dealing with things at work, she thought she would love her job and probably would but her boss makes it hard for her. I loved how everything plays out in this book, it is well plotted and there is never a dull moment with plenty of drama, heartfelt moments, angst, a surprising twist and some hot romance. Kacey Shea, thank you for another awesome story and emotional rollercoaster ride. It was great to see some of the characters from “Caught in the Flames” again too.
I listened to the Audible edition, Savannah Peachwood and Jason Clarke are talented narrators and voice artists. They do an awesome job portraying the characters and bringing then to life, giving each their own voice and personality. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they capture and project the characters emotions as well as the drama of the story into their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen

I really enjoyed Caught in the Lies! It’s the second book in the series. I loved how these two lost and (somewhat) broken souls were able to find happiness. I loved how committed Cam was to Jill right from the beginning- his love for her was evident. And I loved how Jill overcame so much and was able to move past her past.
I will definitely be reading more by Kacey Shea!
I this couple!
Cam is dreamy.
He is sexy.
Got a filthy mouth and lots of D jokes
He love to sent unsolicited D pics. His D pics. Lots of them
He is attentive
Passionate and patient.
Relentless and down to earth sweet.
But he got secret that can destroy what ever he have with Jill.
Jill is fun
She’s hot and smart
Independent and don’t need a man to be happy.
She doesn’t want relationship.
No commitment for this girl.
Or so she say to her self all the time specially after Cam crash in her life.
The truth…. She will not let anyone near her. Not even her best friends.
She will not let anyone take anything else from her.
She will not feel lost anymore.
She will not let anyone know her secret.
Cause then, no one would ever want her anymore.
Or so what she believe.
Need lots of courage to face their fear.
Need lots of trust between them.
Need lots of D pics, angry sexy time, sizzling with steamy tension kinda fighting, new landlord and an annoying new neighbour to finally crack her walls and his fear.
Ridiculously sweet, swoony, dreamy and sexy romance, I absolutely recommend this book.
A new author for me, but definitly become a one click auto for this book.
4.5 Captivating Stars!
Wow, this second book in the Caught series was captivating and sexy! This is a sweet, emotional age gap romance between an older Cam and a younger Jill. Cameron and Jill are both complicated characters. They both have pasts and secrets that keep them from giving themselves fully to each other. Jill wants to live life on her own terms, not wanting marriage or kids. Cam never expected more than a good time with Jill but this sexy woman blindsided him and he will do what he can to keep her in his life. Jill is conflicted between a stressful job and her growing desire for more with Cam. There were several plot twists I didn’t see coming, but felt authentic. This was a beautiful story of life’s ups and downs, overcoming past tragedies to find true friendship, and love. I also loved all the secondary characters who are quirky, supportive, and adversarial that add so much depth, intrigue and fun to this story. The narration by Savannah Peachwood, and Jason Clarke was superb! They nailed these characters perfectly, making me feel all the complex emotions they experienced. I was completely lost in their moving performance and in Shea’s amazing and beautiful story!
Caught in the Lies by Kacey Shea is a sexy standalone romance told in dual POV between Cam and Jill. A story of two people who hold their pasts and their secrets close and rarely let anyone in. Sexy and swoony with some intense elements thrown into the mix this story was well-written and well-paced. It was my first book by Kacey Shea but it won’t be my last. I enjoyed the chemistry between the two main characters, the depth of the secondary characters and the twists in the plot that felt natural and organic. Loved it! Enjoy!
Cam the older firefighter and Jill the younger fierce independent woman. She wants casual and he wants forever. They both have secrets that hold them back.
A emotional, laugh out loud read. Jill and her friends are very close and funny as can be. Cam the fire captain who has found the woman he wants to marry but will she forgive him for the secrets he keeps and the twist at the end that tugs on your heartstrings. Very much worth the wait.
A must read steamy firefighter series!!!
I received a advanced copy for a voluntary honest review by the Author.
I loved reading Caught in the Lies. I found the story of Cam and Jill’s love a joy to read. They both have issues, he wants a relationship, she doesn’t. As you read you hope in the end they both realize just how perfect they are for each other. I love reading Kacey Shea’s books she brings such emotions to each of her characters.
Cam and Jill are a great couple. They’re obviously in love, everyone can see it, except for them. They both have commitment issues, but they also have amazing chemistry.
Kacy Shea writes great witty banter, amazing chemistry, and gives her characters depth. She makes you fall in love with them, too. Highly recommend.
Cameron and Jill have a sizzling relationship which they both entered as a casual thing. They make each other happy, satisfy each other, and just enjoy spending the time they have together. Both have issues from their past that they have not shared. When feelings start to develop, they try to deny them. When Jill finds a recorded message on his phone, she believes he has been cheating on her. Can these two break down the barriers they each have built and face the reality that they are in love with each other? Ms. Shea has created a wonderful story with characters you will fall in love with, want to shake them into what’s right in front of them, and ultimately find their HEA. This is a wonderfully developed story. I received an advanced readers copy of this book and purchased it for my collection.
Caught in the Lies was all I ever could have hoped for and more. I’m a huge Chicago Fire and 911 junkie so of course a book about a firefighter romance is going to pick up on my radar. Kacey Shea writes new adult romance with perfection. In my opinion, this book had an amazing pace to it. There weren’t any parts where I felt like she threw in some unnecessary stuff to extend the page count. This book had me thoroughly entertained and I’m sad that I read it in two and a half days.
Cameron McClain is the epitome of book boyfriends. Theres only ever been one other time where I swooned hard over a book character but I would love a Cam in my life. I fell so hard for this man that I had to go and read One Hot Night the free prequel as soon as I finished Caught in the Lies. Then I had to sign up for the newsletter so I could get the free bonus chapter. I may be slightly obsessed. I’m even more excited that this is book 2 in a series. That means I can go read the first book still and to my understanding the next book will be coming out next year and I can’t freaking wait.
(5 out of 5) Romance can be hit or miss for me but lately Ive just been falling head over heels for it. Caught in the Lies is one that I continue to think about. I loved that it wasn’t over run with sex scenes. There was actual meat to the story. There was even one part to the story where I literally gasped out loud because of a twist I didnt see coming. I also want to point out that this book may have had one of the hottest and greatest sex scenes ever, in my opinion. All the stars go to this book and I can’t wait to get my hands on more books by Kacey Shea because she is a phenomenal writer.
Holy hot balls!! This book was scorching hot and I loved every single word!!
Cam and Jill were everything and after reading the prequel I knew I had to clear everything and dive right in to find out their whole story and OMG was it worth it.
Kacey Shea is one of my all time favourite authors who never disappoints. Her stories are captivating, well written with relatable characters that we can’t help but fall in love with. More please!!
From the moment that Cam, who is a fire captain, met Jill who works for the local hockey team the chemistry between them is a five alarm fire. They both want the same thing and that is a casual relationship with no strings but a lot of fun.
That worked well until Cam started to want more and Jill was scared to let anyone close because of her past. When she finds out Cam has a secret all her fears have come true and she is devastated but she has secrets of her own. Cam is not about to let her walk out of his life but getting her to open up and trust him with her past and her heart will take perseverance and patience, but he is definitely up for the challenge.
I really enjoyed not only watching Cam and Jill’s story unfold but the relationship between Jill and her two best friends was fun as well.
