This summer I’m leaving my hometown for a fresh start. It’s a necessary choice in my pursuit of a full and sober life. Besides, escaping to the Outer Banks isn’t a hardship. This seaside town holds everything I need and more. That is, until I run into Chase Matthews. He’s an arrogant, cocky, self-absorbed jerk who has already come between me and my best friend once. The smart thing to do is keep … once. The smart thing to do is keep him at a distance, even if he seems lost and alone.
Instead, I’m compelled to help him.
Chase is broken and beautiful in ways I fully understand. It’s been months since I’ve indulged in a drink, but I’ve found a new obsession.
He’s everything I want and the last thing I need.
Each day draws us closer, but I can’t allow myself to get caught up in Chase. We were only meant to have the summer. A temporary fling. Yet my heart has other plans. I don’t know how I’ll ever walk away. Even if he costs me everything.
Enjoy Alicia and Chase’s epic love story, Caught in the Chase, or start with Callie’s book, Caught in the Flames.

Well it’s official.. Kacey Shea is trying to kill me! My heart cannot handle endings like that… so many emotions, so much truth & now I will count the minutes until Caught In Us!
Seriously, Chase & Alicia’s story was not for the faint of heart… full of such realness, honest emotions & some pretty tough subjects… these two definitely had/have the odds stacked against them. A summer fling that turns into so much more than either of them could’ve expected. Angst, Recovery & Off the Charts Chemistry.. Caught in the Chase was simply everything.
Wow, what a great story! Chase and Alicia have a lot of story to tell. Crazy chemistry! This book kept me so engrossed, I didn’t realize it was over until it was. I can’t wait for the next book!
I haven’t read the other books in this series but was able to follow the storyline. This is book one of this couples journey so get ready for that ending ( unlike me ).
Chase and Alicia have a very complicated history that was revealed slowly and I liked that I got to know them without prior opinions. This story deals with addiction and at times it is a heavy hard read. Like me you may find yourself not liking either main characters but stick with it because it is worth it. These two are flawed people and I loved the way that Kacey wrote them it was real and unapologetic. Despite the history between them it is a slow burn and this fit with where they are now. I adored the group of young characters, one in particular but also how they are used to help them heal and move forward. This story is emotional and will push your buttons but the messages of personal responsibility and forgiveness make this an unforgettable book.
I received an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.
Wow. What can I say, I certainly wasn’t expecting a book that gives a lesson in humility, acceptance, addiction, forgiveness and understanding. This book blew me away, Kacey certainly didn’t shy away from writing about some pretty serious issues that people face.
Casey and Alicia are two broken characters, who also happen to hate each other. The story of how they come together was so good, the history they share and the problems they each have make for such an interesting storyline and giving the characters a real complexity. I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait for the next book to find out where the story will go.
Caught in the Chase by Kacey Shea was an inspiring, heart wrecking and gut wrenching ride. The author took me on an emotional journey with some complex characters and their complicated feels. This is the kind of angsty romance that breaks my heart but also fill my heart with all consuming emotions.
Chase and Alicia has a more than complex history. One that is ridden with guilt, shame and reckless decisions. They have a common enemy. Addiction. Now Alicia is volunteering at a community centre for summer. And Chase has been sentenced by court to do community service after his addiction destroyed more than one lives. They have too many fights in their hands. Can two wounded souls find healing touch in each other? This is the first part of a tragically beautiful romance.
This story has two kinds of love stories. One is what romance is all about. Between a man and a woman. From physical attraction to mental connections. I would say Alicia and Chase are just realising they really have fallen in love with each other. The chemistry is explosive and too hot to handle. Their hearts are connected through a twisted and deep bond that’s hard to ignore.
But the second kind of love story is the speciality of this novel. Addiction is a monster. Chase and Alicia both had to embrace their issues and tackle them. And it’s a long battle. Alicia may be at a better place. But she still has scars. Fear of relapse. Desperately and irrationally trying to please everyone except herself. And Chase is a mess of anger, frustration and self loathing. Alicia removed the negativity a lot but it’s not enough. They had some beautiful and swoonworthy moments and those moments made me happy. But they have a long way ahead and my heart is wrecked. The writing was just so brilliant.
Kacey Shea made me feel all the aching, explosive and angsty feels in Caught in the Chase. It hooked me from the beginning and I lost myself in this all consuming romance.
I reviewed an early copy voluntarily
This is the 3rd book in this awesome series and is Chase and Alicia’s story, and these two are complex and flawed characters who are drawn to each other. The chemistry between these two is undeniable, and they have many challenges to overcome for them to move forward together. This is a well written story which is raw, gritty, heartbreaking, tragic, emotionally charged, realistic, relatable, and with secrets, bad choices, which all leads to a steamy and powerful storyline. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend.
Caught in the Chase is a story that will grip hard and will hold your heart within the words of the pages. It is heartbreaking and emotional and one that will have you on the edge of your seat. Two characters that are broken, complicated and flawed are undeniably drawn to each other. Their story is not an easy one and at times will leave you feeling raw and angsty. Chase and Alicia are characters with similarities that are evident, however complications and hurdles seem to stand in their way at every turn of finding happiness. A story that will feel at times like it is shattering your heart to leave you emotionally drained. Be prepared for a cliffhanger as the chase is on for an us with these two. Caught in the Chase is not all hearts and flowers but it is real, inspirational, captivating and a journey worth riding out.
If you’ve been reading the “Caught” series, Chase and Alicia will not be strangers to you. They’ve played pivotal parts in books 1 & 2. But Caught in the Chase, we learn more about the real Chase and Alicia, what they think, what they’ve been through and why they act or react they way they have and do.
This book has so many emotions, and what I call “hidden agendas”. There’s so much love and support. But there’s also the lack of too! This story has new people and a new setting and a bunch of new challenges.
My first favorite part of the book is the wonderful Dedication. But it didn’t stop there! My second favorite part of the story is hot weather and a beach. It helped to warm me up on a cold winter day as I read! I’ll be wanting this book in paperback!
If you have read the other books in this series you’ll be familiar with Chase and Alicia. All these books are well worth reading and I recommend them all. That being said, I think if you wanted to jump in here, with this book, you could fairly easily. Are there characters that reappear and previous events referenced? Yes, they do and yes, there are, but I felt that everything was very well laid out and explained in such a way that you could dive in and you’d be just fine.
Now, lets get into the nitty gritty about this book. Alicia and Chase are complex, complicated and very flawed characters and I thought that this had a tendency to make the them anywhere from somewhat to very unlikable at times throughout the book. I did feel that this was realistic and perfectly fit with the story being told. Painful mistakes, bad choices, heavy emotional baggage, life altering secrets and deep seated feelings create a strong springboard to build off of as this gripping and emotional read unfolds. I feel that I’m doing you a favor by warning you that the start of this book in particular is hard to read. It is raw, very tragic and is prone to having you make judgement calls that you are going to have to work to get past. Again, I thought this fit with the storyline. This is a book that can really effect you and I believe that how it does and how hard it does will greatly depend on your own life experiences and feelings. I admit that for me it was sometimes quite a challenge but I am so glad I took the time I needed and pushed through because this “shine a light on all the dark corners” book has a very important and powerfully moving story to tell.
These characters are going to push some buttons and they quite often make you feel like your heart is being torn in two. Alcoholism is like any other addiction. It can make the very best of us do things we find it impossible to imagine doing, including hurting the ones we love, putting ourselves at risk and doing things you can never take back and this brutally harsh truth is what makes this story sometimes so very hard to read. I will say that one of the things that really struck me about these characters is that in spite of the many outward differences that they present to the world, on the inside they share a startling amount of painful similarities. The chemistry and connection they share is really undeniable but they have many internal and external obstacles standing in the way of them finding both solo and couple happiness.
This book does end on a soft cliffhanger and you’ll have to wait to find out what happens in Caught In Us, the conclusion to this duet of books. If you enjoy a read that can offer a blend of heavy and hopeful, heartbreaking and romantic, steamy and sweet and realistic and relatable, you need to grab a copy and dive in. I’m posting an independent, impartial review.
Wow what an emotion ride this is. It has all the feels. It was great to see the previous characters in the series but man this one packs a bunch. The pain these characters go through is heartbreaking. Chase and Alicia are broken and their journey isn’t easy not to mention the cliffhanger/pause. I can’t wait to finish their journey to see where things land for them. Teddy Hamilton is the perfect voice for Chase and Savanna Peachwood does an amazing job allowing you to feel the emotions also.
I received an ALC
I was prepared to dislike Chase from the beginning, especially since he was such a douche in book 1. However, as his story progressed, we saw a lost, motherless little boy who had always sought his dad’s approval. Then there was the big secret!! Wow! Then came Alicia…I was on the fence with Alicia…the poor little rich girl who finally stood up to her parents and decided to make her way. Again, her backstory was eye opening. These two broken souls find friendship and love together but is that the best thing? Great story that will tear at your heart strings. The author did a wonderful job handling some very serious topics. Looking forward to the conclusion of Chase and Alicia’s story in the next book.
Kacey!!! I don’t know whether I love you or hate you right now!!! Seriously though, you completely killed me with this story!!! I was not a fan of Chase or really Alicia prior to this book. In fact, I’m not sure I would have said they needed or even deserved a happy ending. But this book changed EVERYTHING! Right from the beginning you feel the characters, you get what/how they feel, all of it, the highest of highs and especially when they both hit rock bottom. Chase’s journey of discovery and enlightenment is HUGE. Alicia grows in this story, but you can tell still has work to do. I enjoyed getting more some of the side characters from previous books, but we also get to meet some new people around the community center in Kittyhawk. And the narration was absolutely perfect with Teddy Hamilton and Savannah Peachwood. The cliffhanger was a killer, but I will be anxiously awaiting the audio of Caught in Us
Holy crap!
Alicia and Chase’s story will rip your heart out!!!!
To be honest, I did not care for Chase in the beginning. He was cocky, pushy, and careless… however…as the storyline went along, I found a soft spot for him!
Alicia was a strong, incredible heroine! A recovering alcoholic, trying to resist the temptation at the same time as trying to reach her own goals. So impressed by her character!
Such a well written, deep, amazing storyline! I cannot wait for the next book in the series!
The selection of Savannah Peachwood and Teddy Hamilton as the narrators…PERFECTION! They made an already incredible story come to life!
Chase and Alicia have baggage separate from each other yet intwined. They have scorching hot chemistry mixed with a lot of angst. Their journey will take you through a gamut of emotions and the ending will have you begging for more. Fantastic narration!
This is one rollercoaster ride of emotions. Ups, downs with twists and turns! I really got to delve deep into these characters lives, thoughts and emotions. It makes me become invested in them. Alisha really has had quite the life. I feel sorry for her but also admire her courage to go after what she wants. Chase…man! I was angry with him but eventually got over it and saw what he was trying to do with his life. Do these two belong together? I agree with Alisha’s thoughts but also love their passion when together.
This story also covers addiction. This one is on drinking but a lot of the thoughts they have would apply to other addictions. It really gives the reader something to think about if there is anything they are addicted to(flossing, reading, eating or really just anything). I enjoy the characters thoughts on—just one sip won’t hurt or one sip leads to more. Both are right.
Anyway this story is good, hits all the right spots and easily kept my interest. I look forward to the next to see how things turn out for all the characters not just Alisha and Chase.
I did listen to this on audio. Savannah Peachwood and Teddy Hamilton did amazing. Each brought the perfect inflictions to their characters voices.
Exceptional Story & Narration Riveting & Heartfelt!
Caught in the Chase
Caught Series, Book 3
By: Kacey Shea
Narrated by: Teddy Hamilton, Savannah Peachwood
Kacey Shea never ceases to amaze me with her brilliant mind and the amazing stories she creates, I enjoy her writing style and how realistic and relatable her characters and storylines are, which makes it easy to connect with them and to get fully immersed and invested in the story. There is great world building and character development and the complexity of these characters is vast and amazing. This third book of the “Caught” series is Alicia and Chase Matthews’ story and what a story it is, while each book in this series is a standalone I highly recommend starting enjoying them in order written, first, they are all amazing, second, these characters appeared in earlier books and it is great to know a bit of their backstory and what brought them to where they are in this book. No worries you if you decide to read this on its own you will not feel lost, or that something is missing, the story flows naturally and everything you need to know is detailed in their story. That said, Chase Matthews, a cocky, arrogant player, and he was a bit of a dick in the first book, ok, more than a bit. His cockiness catches up to him in this book and he makes the biggest mistake of his life and it may cost him every he held dear to his heart and life as he knew it and lived it. It was even worse for his friend and coworker who lost even more. His family has had enough of him, especially his father, though he did one more thing for him before he was exiled out of town and out of his job. Alicia has made bad choices in her life, it almost cost her her best friends, who have since forgiven her. She has come a long way since but still knows sobriety and recovery is a work in progress. She is waiting to hear from the graduate programs she applied to, she does not want a career in the family business but she’d rather help people. Against her father’s wishes, she takes an internship at a community center in the Outer Banks to work with youth. Used to upscale and pristine living conditions, she is in for a bit of an adjustment, but she is a sport about it because the job will look good on her resume. Plus, she it gives her to opportunity to live a clean, sober life while being outside of her comfort zone. What she was not expecting to find there was Chase Matthews, not just visiting the area but volunteering at the community center. Chase is the last person she wants to see, but she can not just blow him off, though she would love to see him go. He is there for a reason and it takes him time to get past the anger and guilt of the situation before he can admit to what he really is and once he does, he takes that first step to recovery. Alicia, a recovering alcoholic, can relate to his struggles and she softens up to him, even tries to help him. Which leads to more, the chemistry between these two is electric and undeniable, and they could only ignore it for so long. But things are not that simple for them, he is new to recovery and relationships are not recommended and she plans for her life that do not include him, she also has friends who are not Chase Matthews fans. This story just blew me away, it grabbed not just my attention but my heart too, the emotions pour off the pages, heartfelt and gut wrenching ones, and that ending, lets say I am happy that the next book is coming to audio soon, otherwise I may have flipped out. Chase and Alicia’s story is not over yet, there is more to come and I am looking forward to see where it goes. This book is definitely one of Kacey Shea’s best works yet, ok, maybe I say that about all her books, but this one covers a topic that is close to my heart and she does an amazing job handling alcoholism and recovery. This story is beautifully plotted with plenty of drama, angst, heartfelt emotions and some steamy romance. Chase definitely redeems himself in this book in a number of ways, kittens included. Kacey Shea, thank you for another amazing novel and emotional rollercoaster ride..
And for the fabulous narration, Teddy Hamilton and Savannah Peachwood are the perfect cast to bring these characters and their story to life. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that fit that character’s persona to a tee, sounded believable in every role they played, and just as I pictured the characters to sound. Savannah Peachwood’s Alicia was spot on, she grasped her every emotion and had you feeling them, Teddy Hamilton did the same for Chase. Both were great at covering the roles of the secondary characters, too. These mega talented narrators are versatile voice artists and entertaining storytellers. Thank you for another exceptional listen, it is always a pleasure to listen to your audiobooks.
Caught in the Chase
Caught Series, Book 3
By: Kacey Shea
Narrated by: Teddy Hamilton, Savannah Peachwood
I have been waiting for this audio and it was so worth it! This first installment of Chase and Alicia’s story is raw and real, grabbing and pulling me into their lives. Alicia has taken a job in the Outerbanks, beginning her new life and dealing with her addiction. She never thought she would see the trigger that had her hitting rock bottom. Chase has been sent to the Outerbanks to fulfill some community service he needs to complete. Not ready to face his addiction, he is dealing with life day by day. That is until Alicia is back in it. Now the two have begun a new path, but where will it take them? I love Kacey Shea’s writing. She deals with relevant issues in a compassionate way. There is no sugar coating, each scene giving us the reality of life. These two broken characters are easy to relate to. They delve into your heart, and you just want to help them. Real life is not easy though, and mistakes, relapses and feelings happen. I just want to know where it will all take them! Shea leaves us wanting the next in the series and I can’t wait to hear it!
Casting Teddy Hamilton and Savannah Peachwood for these roles is genius. Each one plays the broken soul with a true to life feel. The pain is real, and we as listeners are engrossed in the emotional turmoil these two have. Hamilton and Peachwood have voices that are familiar, so the characters are like our family and keep us captivated. I loved their portrayal of these characters.

Audiobook Review: Caught in the Chase (Caught #3) by Kacey Shea, Narrated by Savannah Peachwood and Teddy Hamilton
Alicia and Chase gave me goosebumps. Shea touches the soul. Caught in the Chase throws away the rose colored glasses and gives a glimpse into the darkness of a tarnished heart. With a portrayal that is as haunting as a memory and a journey as painful as it is poignant, Peachwood and Hamilton draw the heart in like a magnet.
Caught in the Chase by Kacey Shea is book 3 in the Caught Series. If you want the full effect of the story and characters you need to start at the beginning. I was asked if I’d like to read this story prior to reading book 4 because well they you have to lol. Chase is a complete jerk to begin with you couldn’t like him…not even a little bit. But as I got into the story…his story I started to maybe kinda like him a little bit. Let’s just say he is an acquired taste for me. But the connection between Chase and Alicia is explosive at best and all consuming at worst. I can’t say Kacey didn’t destroy me in the best possible way, because she did…now since she left me hanging I must now read the next book Caught in Us. See ya there. I received a free advanced copy to read and review.
This novel is an intricately written work which is intense and thought-provoking. The ins and outs of addiction are clearly showcased. I admired the honest and detailed look at the trials and triumphs of addicts in recovery. It was quite eye opening.
I enjoyed the relationships that Alicia, the heroine shared with he best friends. Their support was crucial to her success. I admire Alicia’s commitment to sobriety and her loyalty to those she loves. What I did not admire was he propensity to hide the truth while she demanded complete honesty from everyone else. Alicia is basically walking paradox who cares too much about the opinions of others. I love her kind heart and her determination to be successful despite her family.
Chase, the hero, while a bit immature, has a good nature. He is passionate about his career as a firefighter and his place in the brotherhood of coworkers. He makes some poor decisions and pays a great price for those choices. It is awesome to see him begin to turn his life around. I love that he is committed to doing better.
When Alicia and Chase’s worlds collide one fateful sumner, the fireworks are spectacular. I love who they become as a couple. They truly do bring out the best in each other. Alicia and Chase’s story had me on the edge of my seat. The highs and lows were almost more than I could bear. I cannot wait to find out where their journey leads them.
