This summer I’m leaving my hometown for a fresh start. It’s a necessary choice in my pursuit of a full and sober life. Besides, escaping to the Outer Banks isn’t a hardship. This seaside town holds everything I need and more. That is, until I run into Chase Matthews. He’s an arrogant, cocky, self-absorbed jerk who has already come between me and my best friend once. The smart thing to do is keep … once. The smart thing to do is keep him at a distance, even if he seems lost and alone.
Instead, I’m compelled to help him.
Chase is broken and beautiful in ways I fully understand. It’s been months since I’ve indulged in a drink, but I’ve found a new obsession.
He’s everything I want and the last thing I need.
Each day draws us closer, but I can’t allow myself to get caught up in Chase. We were only meant to have the summer. A temporary fling. Yet my heart has other plans. I don’t know how I’ll ever walk away. Even if he costs me everything.
Enjoy Alicia and Chase’s epic love story, Caught in the Chase, or start with Callie’s book, Caught in the Flames.

5 BRILLIANT STARS!!
Emotional, Passionate, Inspiring and Brilliantly brought to life by Teddy Hamilton and Savannah Peachwood.
Caught in the Chase is beautifully and masterfully crafted. It has it all, suspense, tragedy, steamy romance, sweetness, angst and much more. You can feel it all through the engrossing, and fascinating performance by this two amazing narrators that make you feel as if you are part of the story.
This series by author Kacey Shea is one of the most inspiring, intense, entertaining and immensely captivating that I have listened/read. All in all, this amazing and memorable story that’ll touch the depths of your soul, and get you hooked right from the start. I absolutely loved it, and highly recommend it.
***** AUDIOBOOK REVIEW *****
Woah, I didn’t see Caught in the Chase coming in with that amount of depth. Chase and Alicia have a past neither are proud of. They are both enriched in shame and guilt. Neither know what to do with this attraction they are trying so hard to resist. After so long of being pushed together and seeing different sides of each other they start to slip and end up sliding right into bed. Now these two may be hot between the sheets but they are everything everywhere else. They seem to see each other like no one else does. They open up and bare all their scars, all their fears. Is that enough to fix all their problems though? Is love enough to heal so many open wounds?
This is a story that is going to mess with you. If you’ve struggled through addiction or know anyone that has than this story will hit you right in the feels. It doesn’t just play with your heart though. There are plenty of moments where I swooned HARD. There were times I laughed. There were even a few times I felt some anger sizzling inside. Those feelings have a lot of to with Kacey Shea’s way with words but also to the amazing narrators that brought this book to life. Teddy Hamilton and Savannah Peachwood seriously brought so much to these characters that I FELT for them. Hamilton really played well on the vulnerability that Chase ended up showing. He started off so arrogant and bitter but it was so easy to see that he was hiding his emotions. Peachwood kills Alicia’s character (in a good way). Alicia is so unsure of her own footing. She’s drowning in shame and regret for some reckless actions and Peachwood just NAILS the emotions I get from the words. I don’t think this audiobook could have been any better!
This book has wrapped itself around my heart and I am in awe at the beauty that has come from such pain with these characters. Nothing is easy in life and Chase and Alicia show us life sometimes things pulls you under but you have to keep fighting for tomorrow and take it one day, one hour, one minute at a time and realize you may struggle but you can face your demons and come out on the other side.
Chase and Alicia have a history, a painful and shameful history and so Chase is the last person Alicia wants to see as she is beginning her internship in another town and essentially getting her life on track for her. Chase is being forced to do community service and he just wants to get it over with and move on but when he sees Alicia everything changes for him in ways he never imagined.
This book is going to pull at your heart and also give you those melt you moments from all the sweet and loving things that happen. I was on edge several times wondering what would happen and as soon as this book ended I immediately began book two. This is a two part book so you need to read this one first. It is part of a series but you don’t have to have read the others in the series but I highly recommend them. You do get all the back story from those as well as all the other characters. This book is just so good, beyond 5 stars for me.
I was totally captivated by this emotional, and steamy romance. Alicia has been working hard to overcome her past bad decisions and addictions. After a heartbreaking event, Chase is just now being forced to face his. he isn’t ready to admit he really needs help until he and Alicia are forced to work together. They have a history that Alicia is trying to forget. She is looking for a fresh new start in her life and is not happy to have Chase be a part of that. But the more time they spend together, they both see who they are underneath. They are both facing their need to please others to their detriment and starting to heal and become stronger. But Alicia is afraid to trust in Chase, especially when he is having a hard time proving he is strong enough to face the hard truths. This is such a powerful and compelling love story. Alicia and Chase are such wonderfully flawed and broken characters, and my heart broke for them both, especially during some of the flashback memories. I loved how they worked to be better people, but still face a long road ahead.
The narration by Teddy Hamilton and Savannah Peachwood was fabulous! They are so perfectly cast as Chase and Alicia, as they skillfully made these characters so clear to me, making me care for them quickly. They took my breath away as they build the tension of the story, and the fiery attraction between Chase and Alicia as well. Their banter was brilliant, and they conveyed the depth and complexity of all their emotions beautifully. I love their dynamic voices, and was completely lost in their performance.
This story will take you on a rollercoaster of emotion and angst, with twists that will keep you totally engaged and will linger in your thoughts long after you finish listening. I can’t wait to find out what happens next for Alicia and Chase in Caught in Us!
Not sure why I missed reading this one sooner. Caught in the Chase hits close to home for me. I have personally dealt with a loved one and addiction that may be the reason why I just loved this one. I can’t say how hard it is to resist something like this, but if you have a good support group I feel this can make a huge difference.
This one kept me reading well past my bedtime with so much going on and wanting to know how it ends. My heart hurt and soared for Chase and Alicia so many times. Sometimes keeping a secret can hurt more than stay a secret. When the feelings of someone you love feels like they are a dirty secret can ruin that relationship. With the close history with her BFF’s she knew she could not tell them of her summer romance with Chase.
Their story does have an HEA but they went through a lot to get there.
This book deals with Alcoholism, the ups and downs, the fight for sobriety.
Chase Matthews is a fire captain until going out one night with his best friend ended with a bad decision. Now he’s not sure if he’ll ever be a firefighter again. He is sent out of town to do his community service. staying at his Uncle’s house.
Alicia has made so many bad decisions including hitting on her best friend’s boyfriend at the time, Chase. She has tried getting sober and has done well until she finds out some information about her father. Now she is finally getting her act together and takes an internship out of town, much to her parents disgust.
What’s the chances they end up in the same little town with Chase having to report to her for his community service.
This struggle for sobriety is a minute by minute struggle every day. They struggle with regrets, disappointing people, and guilt. Can they succeed? And what about the secrets they both hold?
This is an emotional story showing the struggles of two people dealing with their alcoholism.
5 stars
You wanted to hate him but in the end your heart absolutely breaks for Chase Matthews. He was everything you tried to distance yourself from until you saw a glimpse of who he desperately wanted to become. They seemed like the perfect balance and the demons they fought could be silenced. This story was one of my absolute favorites since you could see such hope and the promise of getting a second chance could change your entire life. I cannot wait for the conclusion of this book!
I must be going crazy, because I swear I wrote my review for this book when this released last year.. but alas, I can’t find it. But I am here to tell you all that this book is AMAZING and deserves waaaaay more attention than it’s getting. Seriously, Kacey packed ALL the feels in the first part of this duet, and I cannot wait to get my hands on book two!
I’ll be the first to admit that I am a huge sucker for bad boys. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. There self destructive ways is like catnip to me (in romances only though, lol!) so I definitely have a love hate relationship with Chase because he was SUCH a jerk in the first two books in this series, but now that I am inside of his head? I can’t NOT love him. This man is battling so many things at once, and is trying to make amends for his wrongdoings, and quite honestly, I love the fact that he admits to himself that it wasn’t the best man, but he acknowledges that and he changes and grows, and dammit if that’s not what life is all about. He was just such a real character, and every one of his flaws just made me love him even more.
Alicia.. I just love her so much. Did I want to shake her at times? Yes. Did I want to wrap her in my arms and give her the worlds biggest hug? Also yes. I love how she made Chase work to earn her heart, and she in turn brought out a completely different side of him as well. They have such a beautiful and emotional relationship, and I just loved every second of it. And the heat?! Good lord, five alarm fire!!
This book deals with some very real topics, and regardless what some may believe, addiction is a disease and it doesn’t care who it tears down in its path. I was raised by an addict, so I saw so much of myself in these characters: how they were hurt by addiction, how they both loved and hated the addict, how scared they were of the inevitable rock bottom.. Kacey just poured her heart out in this book and it shows. If you are in the right headspace to handle this topic, I so encourage you all to read this book. It’s just so freaking beautiful.
It does end on a cliffhanger, but part two will be here soon! And trust me.. I just know the best is yet to come!
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**
What an emotional and gripping ride. I was hooked from the beginning as it pulls at your heartstrings. I loved their journey. I loved the characters and sizzling chemistry It’s enjoyable and a must read.
A heartwrecking story of two souls that have and have had a lot of obstacles in their way. They are drawn together, so much that it’s hard to fight.
Looking forward to the conclusion in the next book.
Caught In The Chase is book three in the Caught series. This is Chase and Alicia’s story. This book is long, angst filled read that will leave on the precipice. I am so ready for the rest of their story. I just know it will be just as angsty.
Angsty and heartbreaking, Alicia and Chase’s story is full of pain and hurt. These lead to horrible decisions with awful consequences and both work hard to love with their outcomes. I have to admit, I wasn’t a fan of Chase in the prior books and the beginning of this book made me dislike him even more. Alicia also, seemed like a bit of a spoiled person but like a masterful story teller, Kacey Shea peeled back the layers of the onion and gave us a deeper, often heartbreaking look into what made them the way they were. Difficult issues were tackled, such as alcoholism and even abuse. But they were handled well and realistically, showing that even when you take a step forward, regression is likely when you’re fighting an addiction. This is book one of a duet and I reveled in the rest of their path to their HEA in Caught in Us (book 2).
I first read the ebook but then listened to the audiobook, narrated by Savannah Peachwood and Teddy Hamilton. These two were the perfect narrators for this book. Teddy Hamilton’s tough growly voice and Savannah Peachwood’s smooth voice really elevated the story, making an emotional story even more so. The audiobook is a fantastic way to experience this story!
This book was more like a journey and I was glad I held on tight for the ride. Chase and Alicia are two broken people and together they travel on this journey. So excited that I read this story and I truly couldn’t put it down, even called in sick to work to read it and I haven’t done that in forever. I loved this story so much and bought the previous books so I can read Jill and Callie’s stories. Highly recommend this book. Amazing… Incredible and mind blowing…
This is the third book in the Caught Series, a series of interconnected standalone stories. I recommend to read this series in order. Chase and Alicia’s story is well written, emotional, passionate, intense, and heartbreaking. They are both complex, flawed, and broken characters. Their relationship is complicated. This story definitely has heavy subject matter, and triggers, with the aftermath of their domino effect. I loved to see again the characters from the first books. I like the friendship in this series. Looking forward to read Caught in Us, to know what happens next. If you like heart wrenching stories, this one is for you. I read it, and the audiobook version brilliantly brings this story to life. Savannah Peachwood and Teddy Hamilton did an outstanding job with the narration. (review updated with the audiobook version)
Wow, this deserves more than 5*****…
The story has been outlined in the blurb & previous reviews so I won’t go into detail. What I have to say though is that although I regularly get involved in the many books I read I haven’t been so deeply invested for a long time as I was in this compelling flawlessly crafted page turner. It was raw, gritty, gutsy, humbling & poignant. I sobbed at times, hubby brought more wine but it made me feel bad given that the main characters were battling their addiction. Have to wait until March for the next book featuring Chase & Alicia, sob! I received an arc & this is my honest & voluntary review.
First things first … *sigh* you gotta start at the beginning with this series. The books are interconnected. Also, this particular book ends in a pause to the journey and it’s necessary. This story is emotionally driven and fueled by a lot of heart wrenching conflict within our leads. They have a history. They have a past. They have struggles. Their life is dramatic and full of conflict. This is one of those stories where you dread turning the page at the same time as you can’t wait for the next chapter because it is hopeful. It is redeeming. It is love.
GAWD, my emotions were all over the place with this story and I feel, no, I know, the most uphill battle has yet to come. Let me tell you guys something I know, addiction of any kind is a destructive disease that doesn’t care who gets in its way. Its sole purpose is to destroy. To battle and win such a monster is a herculean feat. I do not know what lies ahead for our leads, but I do know that Kacey has done an exceptional job thus far with this story and I am looking forward to reading the second half of Chase & Alicia’s journey! She has written two beautifully scarred and imperfect soles destined to heal each other. It’s just perfect …
Caught in the Chase is book 3 in the Caught series and this time it’s Alicia and Chase’s turn in the spotlight!
While the author did an exceptional job telling the story of these two characters, keep in mind that the journey doesn’t end here. Book 3 is the first in a duet setting the stage and the tone for a very gut wrenching, heartwarming, emotional roller coaster that you’re sure to love! This book is HEAVY on the FEELS!
If you’ve read the previous books, then you know of Alicia and Chase. However, if you haven’t there’s no need to worry because the book is wonderfully written, and the author provided plenty of details to get you up to speed. I strongly suggest you go back and read books 1 and 2 as soon as you get the chance though because you’ll love them too! Such a great series.
While both previous books have been terrific reads, this book was something special! To fully appreciate my love of this story, I need to admit that I was not a huge Chase fan prior to book 3. He was a bad boy, and not in all the best ways…lol. As it turns out, Kacey has been hiding a rather particular talent from her readers….her capacity to write some insanely compelling REDEMPTION ROMANCE!!! I was like WHAT IS SHE DOING?!?! How dare she make me fall in love with Chase Matthews!!!! OMGGG…this book ripped my heart out you guys. AND CHASE….WOW! Is there anything better than a man with real imperfections, wrestling his demons, turning over a new leaf, and fighting for love? I thought my heart was going to beat right out of my chest while reading this one!
This story had so much goodness to offer, but by no means was it the easiest of reads. It was laced with real emotion, explored genuine pain, came face to face with true guilt, and embraced the journey of real growth. It was not always pretty, nor was it smooth, but it was phenomenal and I felt every emotion that Chase and Alicia went through down to my marrow! A very memorable read that I can’t wait to continue in the next release because I’m addicted to love!!! Especially the complicated kind that Alicia and Chase excelled at giving us. Le Sigh!!!
I’m an avid reader, and I know what I like and what I do not. I love a book that deals with the real issues that couples face, and tells their stories in a raw, unmasked fashion. I also love stories of redemption and inspiration, and this storyline has that in spades! It’s a remarkable, inspirational story that just has all my emotions running wild and free. This book hangover is no joke y’all! So worth it though. It’s also the kind of story that will hit each reader differently, another reason the book is special. Depending on your personal walk through this life, or the experiences you’ve shared with loved ones, this book will resonate with every reader in a unique way. I loved it and can’t wait for more!
BRAVO KACEY SHEA!
I was a little leery going into Caught in the Chase purely for personal reasons because I HATED Chase from Callie’s book. I despised how he treated her and honestly I figured he was irredeemable. I was wrong! I am so glad that I read this book because I actually fell for Chase. He is so beautifully broken and sure he’s done some awful stuff but he has redeemable qualities. He deserves his chance at a happy ever after. I liked that Alicia stood her ground and wouldn’t lower her standards for him. He actually had to work hard to win her affection. When Chase showed who he really was, my heart broke for him and what he’s had to go through. Plus there is nothing sexier than a guy who treats animals well! I loved that we got to know some of the kids at the community center, especially Tyler.
Caught in the Chase was so very well done and written exceptionally well. I was hooked from the very beginning and I enjoyed catching up with Jill and Callie. I can’t wait to see how everything turns out for Alicia and Chase. I’m really rooting for them! I really loved this book and I hope you give it a try too. You will not be disappointed! I highly recommend it!!!
Voluntary review of an ARC
Oh my heart!
Chase and Alicia are not the simplest of couples, they are flawed and complicated but if anything that made me love them so much more. Their story is far from perfect but who’s is right?!
It was raw and real and as quick as it broke my heart it was filled with hope that all would be ok.
I can’t wait for their conclusion in Caught In Us.
I know the rest of their journey is going to be far from easy. It’s going to be a gut filled, heart wrenching rollercoaster of a ride but I’m ready. I don’t cope well without an HEA, I need to know they’ll be ok and work it out. I need more!!
So to even understand half of what’s going on, I do suggest you read the previous stories. Chase and Alicia were a big part of Callie’s story. Since I did read the previous stories, this story was a bit rough for me; I have realized I am not a forgive and forget type of person, more like a die in hell type. There is so much I want to say about this story, but I also don’t want to spoil things. So, I’ll just stick with the basics. Alicia and Chase were both part of what was a mistake, this was months ago and lives have moved on, some for better and others not so good. They both end up at the Outer Banks, a surprise for them both, but is this a good one or a bad one? The fire they both feel for the other is still there under the surface, but is this desire something they should even give in to? Are either of them in a place where this is a good idea?
I’m going to say that I am, for once, actually understanding why this is a two part story. There was so much going on, that it wouldn’t have been fair to pack it into one book. Secrets are revealed, pasts are rehashed, loads of drama, some really hot naughty bits; we get a really good story. Can’t wait to read the rest of it. I give this 4 stars.
