I just finished reading Caught in Make-Believe by Sharleen Scott (book 3 in the Caught series).
Samantha Dylan and Jace Colton have so much chemistry together, right from the start!
It almost leaps out from the pages!
I previously read the first 2 books in this series and I loved both of them.
Here is something that I wrote in my review of the second book :
“Although I was fully smitten and infatuated with Clay and Harlie – I got to say that Tallie and Tom are now my new favorite couple (at least until the next book, haha).”
Well… Here I am, admitting that this third installment in this series has again, taken me to new heights!
Samantha and Jace have indeed become my new favorite – and this book had so many moments where I was trying to guess the end but I really didn’t see anticipate where this book ended up taking me! What a wild ride!
Each book, was better than the last! How? I honestly don’t know as I thought the first 2 books were epic!
Sharleen Scott is an author that you should definitely subscribe to and look for.
Easiest 5 stars I’ve ever given!
Caught in Make Believe is the third book in the Caught series. It can be read as a standalone. If you want to get more background info on some of the characters mention to bring things together for you a bit more, I recommend reading the first two books.
I really fell in love with this book. I think it actually might be my favorite out of the three that I’ve read. I loved the complexity of the Jace character and the resilience of Sam’s character. The overall story line was well done. A little romance, a little suspense, a little mystery, a little adventure…makes for a great getaway from reality. I was so into it that I finished it in a day!
Caught In Make Believe is the 3rd book in the Caught Series by Sharleen Scott. Each book in this series can be read as a stand-alone. As characters from the previous books appear in subsequent books, and the fact that this series is fantastic, I would recommend that you read the whole series from the beginning and read them in order to get maximum enjoyment.
Sharleen Scott writes amazing gripping romantic thrillers. Having loved the first 2 books in this series I couldn’t wait to read this one and I was certainly not disappointed. I devoured this book in a few hours, I just couldn’t put it down.
I loved that we got snippets of Clay and Harlie, and also Tom and Tallie from the previous books but I just loved Jace and Samantha’s story. Both are broken and have troubled pasts and neither of them are looking for a relationship. Jace is still coming to terms with the murder of his wife 5 years before and Samantha is just out of a broken engagement. Both are amazing characters that you can’t help but fall in love with and you are rooting for them to get their HEA.
However in true Sharleen Scott fashion, nothing runs smoothly. Jace’s wife’s killer is still at large and has found him. This puts Jace and everyone he loves at risk. The author does a fantastic job of building up the tension and leaving you on the edge of your seat right up to a climactic finale.
I’m seriously praying that this is not the end of the Caught series as I’d really love to read more.
Caught in Make-Believe is the next mind blowing instalment in Sharleen Scott’s The Caught Series! I hope it is not going to be the last one as there are quite a few other characters there that I am sure I am not the only one who would like to get their own story! You could read this story as a standalone though you would get so much more out of it having read the first two stories in the series as you will understand the dynamics better.
Sharleen has given us a mix of romance, suspense, mystery, second chances, action and …. love. There are such intricacies and layers that sometimes when you try to figure out who when and what you realize that you should just sit back and enjoy the ride that Samantha Dylan and Jace Colton are taking us on!
Samantha runs the town’s bakery and is friends with Masterson family (that we met in the first and second book) and who has decided to take a break from romantic relationships after another one of hers tanks. Jace has been ‘on the road’ for the last five years and has return to the town to face his past – “Pistols or swords at dawn” type of showdown. He knows his stay would be temporary but you never know what will happen when the fate interferes in the form of busted pipes and literary aspirations!
I hope you will pick up a copy and disappear into the small town Oregon with all those intriguing characters so you can find out if Samantha and Jace will find their happily ever after!
Caught in Make-Believe by Sharleen Scott
Four Stars
Caught in Make-Believe is the third book in the Caught series by Sharleen Scott. This book can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend that you read this series. In order. There are some recurring characters from the first two books and all of the books are great reads. I do think that this story is my new favorite by Ms. Scott. This book is full of action, suspense, mystery and romance. It grabbed my attention on the very first page and I couldn’t put it down until I read the last. Jace and Samantha have great chemistry, but have many obstacles in their way. The twists and turns kept me guessing what was going to happen next throughout the whole book. I highly recommend this book, series and author and look forward to reading more from Ms. Scott in the future.
Caught in Make-Believe, by Sharleen Scott, is the third book of the Caught series. This romantic suspense was a well written novel featuring Jace Colton and Samantha Dylan. Two unlikely characters tossed together that work well with amazing chemistry. Each book within this series was better than its predecessor and Caught in Make-Believe is no different – best of the series! Sharleen Scott’s writing technique continues to improve along with that the amazing characters, sequences and stories! This author is one to watch and this is one of my favorite series this year!!
Caught in Make-Believe by Sharleen Scott is the third book in the Caught series and I hope not the last. There are questions i have that I want answered about a few people and I think Jax would make an amazing story. I would also love to see the grown up versions of the next generation.
I fell in love with Samantha in the first book as Harlie’s best friend and fell in deeper love with her in this book. She’s a friend, daughter, sister and a warrior who just wants to find her happily ever after.
Jace has a lot of scars from his past and some secrets too. He comes home to Angel Beach after five years not expecting to start living again.
I enjoyed this book and series a lot, more than I had expected to. I’m hopeful that there will he more from them in the future. Fingers crossed.
Caught In Make Believe (The Caught Series Book 3) by Sharleen Scott
4 Stars!!!!
This is the third book in the series and I wasn’t disappointed. I found this author to have such a refreshing writing style. I was drawn in and hooked from page one. I just couldn’t put this book down.
The way that Jace’s past seems to always be there adds to the appeal and draw of this book. I found myself really routing for Jace and Samantha. I found that the author was able to add just enough drama and action to keep my full attention and keep me glued to the book. I also found the way that both Jace and Samantha have a past and both were really just what each other needed. I really look forward to reading more from this author in the future. C
A great read about the past.Jace Colton returns to Angel Beach after five years to try and rebuild .the life he lost. While there’s he meets the bubbly Samantha and is attached to her even though he won’t be staying for long. He falls for her but his past rears its ugly head. Can he put the past behind him for a new future?
A great read. Well developed plot. Well developed characters like Jace cold and harsh but kind underneath or Samantha trying to keep positive despite being unlucky in love.
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel in the sense of a small town with the beach and the bakery and small streets for a homely feel. Or in Emily’s house with the starfish and shells for a sense of the seaside and a conforting feel to the place.
The use of suspense was well written and drawn out to perfection to make you keep reading to find out what happened in the past..I also liked the use of blog entries into the story to portray Jaces thoughts and struggles for the journalistic feel which was a lovely touch. Overall, a great read and I would give it four stars
Caught in Make Believe by Sharleen Scott is book three of The Caught Series. This book is a romantic suspense. There is just enough mystery and suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat to find out how the story will play out until the end of the book. I suggest reading books one and two as there are some previous characters mentioned.
Samantha has been unlucky in love. She’s just about decided to give up on relationships all together. Jace’s job as an investigative journalist hasn’t been easy. Especially after the threats he’s received. Back in town after a lengthy disappearance, she meets Samantha and instantly knows he’s attracted to her. Samantha knows it’s unlikely that Jace will stay long term but despite that knowledge and the danger Jace’s presence can bring, their attraction leads to a relationship. What will the future hold for Jace and Samantha??
I really enjoyed this book. The suspense kept me riveted and I couldn’t wait to finish the book just to find out what would happen!
Caught in Make-Believe (The Caught Series Book 3) By Sharleen Scott. Another fantastic example of a romantic suspense story that had me hooked from beginning to end. While you can definitely read these out of order without confusion I recommend reading them all because they are all great. This one might have just gained the title of my favorite in this series but like I said each one is amazing. The author knows how to capture readers and keep them guessing. I was on the edge of my seat more than once that’s for sure. Each character brings something unique to the story and they are complex and relatable. If you want a great suspense story then this author is a go to for sure. I’m giving this book a five star review and highly recommend it to anyone.
Caught in Make-Believe is book three in the Caught series by Sharleen Scott. This series is crazy addictive and just gets better and more memorable.
Jace is an investigative journalist that is caught in a dangerous maze that could cost him his life. He knows things dangerous people will do anything to keep hidden, which forces him to flee for his safety. He meets Samantha and the first meeting did not go so well. She is a sassy bakery manager who is over men who sprout empty promises and colourful lies. They play a dangerous juggling game and the anticipation of what may happen to them is highly suspenseful and will have a reader riveted to the words on each page with narrow minded intensity.
Caught in Make-Believe is a perfect continuation of this wonderfully entertaining and dramatic series. A emotionally charged and creative drama that leaves a lasting impression and a thirst for more. 4 stars.
Caught in Make-Believe was a great 5 star read and book three in the Caught Series.
I have been reading this series from the start and I was really excited to read this next book in the series.
We meet Samantha first, she runs her own bakery and was recently engaged and then her fiance decided to disappear for a week. When he show’s back up with another woman she sends him on his way, needless to say she is very unlucky in relationships and has no desire to start another one.
In the four years she lived here, she’d gone from one loser relationship to another.
Jace is an investigative writer and has returned home to Angel Beach, but for how long?
Samantha meets Jace when he comes into her bakery. Something about him draws her in and gets her attention. He’s standoffish and rude, but she may have discovered a secret of his. Jace was intrigued by Samantha, and encouraged conversation with her.
Jace and Samantha start growing closer, I enjoyed the bantering between them. They were clearly meant for each other. Overall this was a great read. I loved the connection the characters had and the suspense with a touch of danger added a great element to the story. All the secondary characters were great and Martin was adorable. Sharleen Scott has once again pulled me in and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
Caught in Make – Believe (The Caught Series Book 3)
By Sharleen Scott
5 stars
This is the third book in The Caught Series and another that I have thoroughly enjoyed! It was as I expected, excellently written and full of action, suspense, drama and some romance!! It could easily be read as a standalone but I would definitely recommend the other books first as there are a few characters mentioned. Again I really enjoyed how the author was able to conceal things that were going to happen which meant I was constantly guessing how the story would unfold. I enjoyed the chemistry between the main characters Samantha and Jace and I loved reading about them. There were some good twists and turns which kept my interest throughout and also provided me with a few heart stopping moments!
I thought that Caught in Make-Believe was another fantastic read from Ms Scott and I cannot wait to read more from her again in the future.
Caught in Make-Believe is the third novel in the Caught series by Sharleen Scott. This is my third novel by this author.
Jace Colton is an investigative journalist who five years earlier was on the brink of solving a big case, but the costs ending with a big tragedy that caused him to disappear. Now he returns to Oregon.
Samantha Dylan is the manager of a bakery in town and has no interest in relationships after her last one failed. She feels her biological clock is ticking but has learned her lesson from her previous mistake.
When they two meet, there is an attraction but Samantha knows that Jace won’t be in town for long and doesn’t want to start something but strange things to happen. Could it have anything to do with Jace’s past? What secrets are he hiding?
This was my favorite of the series by far. From the opening, I was hooked. This one has so much mystery and left your blood pumping while reading.
It was such a wild ride discovering who Jace was and his past as well as his relationship with Samantha.
For those looking for a suspenseful read, I highly recommend this novel and series.
CAUGHT IN MAKE BELIEVE is the 3rd story in “The Caught Series” and I think it would be best to read the stories in order. The author is a very detailed writer and there are characters who cross over each story and common threads that connect the whole series together.
Like with the other stories in the series, it’s a character rich telling of a tale. A suspense with romance and new beginnings – very detailed and layered as the story moves along at a decent pace. There are times when I felt disconnected from the main characters and other times when I was so absorbed it was if the pages were turning themselves.
This is a complete and fulfilling series that I would recommend.
Caught in Make-Believe (The Caught Series book 3) by Sharleen Scott
5-stars
Caught in Make-Believe by Sharleen Scott is another 5-star read in her Caught series! This is the third book in the series and having read all three I can say that they could be read as standalones, however, I loved the first two books so much so I would recommend reading this series in order. Caught in Make-Believe is a suspenseful romance read that had me sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to get answers to all my questions, it’s steamy, intense, detailed, action-packed and highly entertaining.
I love how this storyline flowed seamlessly with the many POV’s, the different POV’s had me feeling really intrigued as I tried to piece everything together! This series is one I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for their next romance suspense reads, it’s one that should not be missed!

This is book three in the Caught Series. As far as I’m concerned, it’s another winner. Each book can be read as a stand-alone seeing as they focus on a different couple in each one. I highly suggest that you read the whole series because it is really good. This story focuses on Samantha Dylan, manager of Harlie’s bakery. She finds out things about her fiancé and breaks off the engagement. She’s fed up and actually considering leaving Angel Beach but then Jace Colton walks into her life.
Jace Colton has finally decided to return to Angel Beach to face some demons from his past. He needs to put them to rest. Unknowingly, someone has followed him which puts his and Samantha’s life in danger. Secrets can destroy you and Jace has plenty. Can Jace survive and protect Samantha as well?
Once again Sharleen Scott managed to play with my emotions. I had moments where I literally held my breath in anticipation of what was going to happen. There is a bit of mystery throughout the book which keeps you intent on piecing things together. When the author finally reveals what’s happening, it truly is a complete surprise. The story was entertaining and filled with wonderful characters. I absolutely loved this series and I’m sure you will too.

This book is the third book in the Caught Series and can be read as a stand-alone. It is a romantic suspense story that kept me turn the pages while i was on the edge of my seat. I enjoyed this book and I really liked the main characters Jace and Samantha. Samantha is a manager at a bakery who has the worth luck relationship wise. Jase is a writer/ investigative journalist who has made his way back home after taking a 5 year hiatus. Tragedy and treats made him run the first time, what will happen when he runs into his past.
Will the two of them move on from their past and start a relationship together? Or will does the past hurt to much to take a chance on each other? Get this book to find out!!
This is a well written story and I would recommend it to a friend.
Review by Anastasia D.
What a great book! Caught in Make-Believe is the third book in the Caught Series that is written by Sharleen Scott. I haven’t read any of the others at all but I didn’t have to. This can be read as a standalone. However, I always recommend reading books 1 and 2 first just to have some sort of background. This book follows Samantha and Jace. Samantha just coming out of a relationship where her now ex-fiancé cheated on her within days of asking her to marry him. Samantha also runs the local bakery. Jace hasn’t been back to town in quite some time. He used to be a journalist and is now a novelist writing under pen name of J.C. Saylor and an anonymous blogger. However, he is back in town with his trusty sidekick Martin the dog. However, Martin isn’t the only one that may have followed him into town. Jace discovered the truth behind a dark net crime organization, which caused him more than he bargained for, which caused him go into hiding. Then he meets Samantha and things start to fall into place for him. Unfortunately, Samantha is having a harder time figuring things out. There is a lot of banter and sexy moments between the two. There is definite chemistry between the two and I was hoping that they would be able to stay together. There are definitely a lot of twists and turns and enough suspense to keep you turning those pages! A definite must read for anyone!
