Great read about the beginnings of Barcelona and the Crusades, one of my favorites.
This book centers around the Santa Maria de la Mar, a cathedral in Barcelona and takes place in the 14th century. The reader will experience what life was like in these times, learn about Spanish history, the Spanish Inquisition and the hard realities of life in this period, all the while enjoying a story following the life of a man, abandoned by his mother through circumstances beyond her control. I could not put it down! Readers of Pillars of the Earth will enjoy this book
