“Addison Cain’s writing blows me away each time!” NYT Bestselling author Anna Zaires My love for her is forbidden. When the princess was placed in my care, the devil ordered that I never show his daughter mercy, affection, or a gentle hand. To keep her safe from the denizens of our dark king’s Cathedral, Jade’s life as my ward has been pitiless. She despises me. Yet I am utterly, irrevocably in … has been pitiless. She despises me.
Yet I am utterly, irrevocably in love.
Infamous for my coldness, unquestioned in my fealty, the devil forgets that there are older, more terrible monsters in the dark—and I have sold my soul to the most ancient of evil so that Jade might one day be mine.
CATHERDRAL is a standalone novel in the Cradle of Darkness series culminating in an HEA. The horror prequel, Catacombs, will enrich the experience of this book but is not necessary.

Sweet holy hell.
The level of dark depraved debauchery that this author hits when she writes a new book is truly out of this world. Every book, I think that there is no way that she can outdo what she has done before. I need to quit saying that (or do I?) because it is almost as if she hears me and picks up that gauntlet and runs with it. EVERY. TIME.
The first part of this book includes the portion that was in the Vampire anthology so for anyone that hasn’t read that will not be lost. I am glad for this because the author had me swiping faster than someone looking for love on Tinder. To say that it was gruesome and horrifying would be an understatement because the life that Jade has had to endure via the hands of her satanic father was heartbreaking. All she wanted was to be loved and understood and not used as a bargaining vessel and by vessel I really mean vagina. I wasn’t sure how she would ever get to that point being that she was so prized as a daywalker. Yet, I could tell that there was definitely more to the story by the little hidden pieces or easter eggs that were given. AND sweet holiest of titfires was I right.
Malcolm and Jade have history here. There is an additional player in this as well, one that you cannot quite tell what his motive is. Is he worse? Or is he better? As this story starts to come together the missing fragments or pieces come together and everything starts falling in place. The twists that come out… I so wasn’t prepared for this.
The connection and devotion that Malcolm shows Jade was truly sweet. He was in it to play the long game. Every interaction and word spoken was intentional and I admired him for that. His methods might have seemed harsh when in reality he just needed her to see and truly remember. The steam between these two. Sweet LAWD. I hope they bought stock in furniture and a handyman for repairs because these two were a maelstrom of EPIC proportions.
I loved how the author gave me a chance to savor the truths that I discovered as well as to see the motivations or feelings from the characters as they processed everything from emotions to reasons that things were unfolding as they were. I enjoyed how this book ended. It gave enough closure into Jade and Malcolm that I felt it was complete. Although it did set up a world in which other stories could be told which makes my heart happy, and truth be told, my therapist will be happier from all the additional money she will make from my increased visits.
I will say it time and time again that this author is one of the best for a reason. She has no qualms about writing about things that are uncomfortable and that teeter on the precipice of morally bankrupt. I cannot recommend this story enough.
I love that she expanded this story from the original short. It was interesting to see more of Jade. The characters are her typical crazy and the story is a little predictable, but it’s perfectly written. If you read Catacombs or Bite Me, you need to read this one as well
Chillingly dark, vicious and very sexy! The story of Jade and her mission to reclaim her life from the darkness of the underworld is very well done! The author did a phenomenal job in keeping the reader at the edge of their seat and cheering for the heroine to find love in the darkest of places. Jade is strong but so vulnerable and the journey she endures in this book is intense but so worth the struggle. Some hidden gems in this book that will not disappoint! Definitely recommend!
I loved this dark read! Jade is the daughter of Darius and Malcolm watches over her. Darius really has no love for his daughter and uses her for his gain and allows others to use her as a plaything but ordering Malcolm to not touch her. Malcolm is in love with Jade and will do whatever he must to keep her safe. Jade on the other hand hates Malcolm but can he make her see things another way? Fast-paced intense read with loads of drama and twists and turns. I was hooked on this amazing read from beginning to end. I loved it!
I received this book for an honest ARC. First let me start by saying “Wow”. I liked the idea behind the story. I like stories that aren’t going to fit perfectly into what we seem to think is believable – isn’t that why we choose to read fantasy books. I love vampires! This story has many things a fan of the genre looks for. It’s sensual, exciting, mysterious and fun. The main characters both have what it takes to rule. The chemistry is so hot I felt it coming off the pages. There are so many characters that add to this page turning story and this love story is epic. This a well written paranormal, romance, thrill and suspense story. Open your mind and get ready to dive deep into some hot reading. A definite must read for paranormal romance readers!
Ms Cain has delivered once again! The journey was bloodthirsty, greedy and all the amazing darkness that we have come to know and adore from addison. It was a please to see how someone could be adored and controlled at the same time. Vampires are totally her spirit animal so is able to use some of her powers to spin a tale so dark it would leave some memories 😉
Holy Queen of Darkness! That was a dark adventure.
When Addison Cain writes a new story, I don’t stop to think about it, I just jump in. She is a master at dark, disturbing, thrilling and devious storytelling.
If you read Catacombs this is a continuation of that short story. If you haven’t no worries this can be read as a standalone.
Jade and Malcom are a pair that were made in the darkness for each other. As this author is known for, this book is brutal and beautiful, visceral and dark, disturbing and heart racing; all within a love story and full of triggers. I devoured this story.
The story is rich in characters and a plot that is not for the squeamish. If you are a fan of vampires and darkness then you will very much enjoy this book.
I highly recommend this book but please beware when it says dark and triggers it means them! I received an ARC and I am leaving an honest review.
Daywalker Jade is Lucifer’s daughter but she’s definitely not daddy’s little girl. Jade must do her father’s bidding or suffer the consequences, and being tortured once is enough to convince Jade to never disobey him again. What happens after Jade’s served her purpose? Note: this story ends on a cliffhanger.
Cathedral is a dark, debauched and intriguing story that will suck you in. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
Dark, Yet Delicious!!
When your father is Satan, your life is not necessarily your own. Certain rules must be followed or there are consequences. Your boyfriend wants to install his pregnant girlfriend in your house you realize there are boundaries even you are not willing to cross.
Your hated guardian says he loves you. You learn you cannot trust your own memories.
Intricate tale of twists and turns, loyalties and treason. Unlike any other story. This will keep you captivated!!
**I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book**
absolutely LOVED this! great lengthy read that just contains so much detail. the way this ties with the prequel, Catacombs was brilliant and I just felt everything in my heart. the things she went through as well as the amount of patience and love Malcom had for her. thinking you know the devil until you see the real one. great blurb that matches what happens in the story. I think she mentioned this was a series and I cannot WAIT to read what else this author puts together. incredible freaking story and I completely adored the two of them
Ms Cain has a wonderful style of writing, and I was utterly enthralled by this vampire love story. Jade starts off as a pawn in this vampire love story; a thing to be used, abused, and debased. Malcolm, her guardian, punishes, praises, & protects her. This story is a true slow burn! I love the characters, the plot with the eggs strewn through it, the dark twists & turns. A memorable read.
I have received a copy of this book. This is my honest & voluntary review.
Jade is the Princess, but in this tale the princess is being constantly fed to monsters, fed to all manner of vamps for her Father’s whims and pleasure. If you have read Catacombs you would have met Jade’s Father and also possibly her mother. However this book focuses on Jade and Malcolm, Darius seemingly right hand, the man that Jade is afraid of, but is not sure why.
As she is given to Malcolm for a night, we see in his eyes that the truth of her has been so mixed up by her father that she is never sure, and as he knows she is his, he will and does everything in his power to make her his and turn her into the woman she is meant to be and take her rightful place.
Treachery, death, blood, this will not be to everyone’s taste, but for those who like their vampires deadly and full of surprises, then hold on to your hats and take a ride deep inside this rather bloody Cathedral.
I loved Addison Cain’s story. There’s something about a woman (daywalker) who can dish out the venom and disdain for her existence. It was sarcastic and beautiful with all the clever words. So much so that I could feel Jade’s contempt. Her hunger. Her pain. “Jade was a terrible vampire, a terrible human, but for a daywalker… she was everything.” And for anyone who read “Catacombs”, it will click on who Jade is. And Darius, just when you think he couldn’t have been any worse, here he is in “Cathedral”. And Malcolm. I can’t decide whether I like him or not. He has the whole tortured soul that Ms. Cain is famous for—whether it’s unrequited love, lust or obsession—in his case, maybe a bit of all three.
“Cathedral is a paranormal horror story coupled with psychological suspense and elements of erotica that makes for compelling reading even as you’re questioning your reading choices for the umpteenth time. Will there be a happy ending? Well you’ll have to read it to find out.
When I started reading I couldn’t put it down.Addison Cain is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can’t wait for the next book.
Addison Cain has absolutely blown me away with this book. I saw an early review of this book, calling it decadent. I can’t think of a better word to describe Cathedral. It is a richly textured, decadent vampire novel for the ages.
While, Cathedral contains all the dark elements one would expect from Cain, it is also tender and sentimental in a way that we rarely see from this author. Jade and Malcolm are such wonderfully crafted characters. Cain takes great care with them and their story. It really is something to read. I loved every darkly crafted word of it.
So if you read Catacombs (which was in an anthology), this books events take place after and along side Catacombs.
This book is about Jade and Malcolm. Jade is Darius’ (introduced in Catacombs) daughter. And Malcolm is his right hand man. He watches over Jade for Darius. But Darius doesn’t really seem to care about Jade that much. She displeased him as a child and he in turn almost kills her. And he treats her like a nuisance to be used to help him win and keep power ever since. He also uses her as a treat for other vampires to compete over. Jade is just trying to survive and like any child she keeps trying to win her father’s love. Tho I don’t think he really knows how to love.
Here is where Malcolm comes in. Jade hates him, but he loves her so much he is willing to do anything to keep her safe. Even sell his fealty to someone who may just be even worse then Darius. . .
I was so looking forward to this book and it definitely didn’t disappoint! If you like vampires and crazy, mad, and fanatical love. Then you will totally love this book too!
Building on the story of Jade and Malcolm narrated in the Anthology, we now get the pieces that make the state those two are in understandable.
The cruel, blood drenched path of a father using his daughter as a bargaining piece, holding her body and her brain hostage to feed his cruel ego.
And still there is love among all that hatred and intrigue.
It is excruciatingly fascinating to watch Ms Cain’s words weave a story of hate, mindless cruelty, redemption, and love.
And she even manages to give them an end that is fitting their place in the undead ‘life’.
Love this dark love story, love the characters, it even has an happy ever after ending
This may be my favorite Addison Cain book so far. All of her work is amazing but this book hit me in all the feels.
This is a timeless tale that is dark and sweet at the same time. A woman, used and abused; a man that has loved her from the shadows. A love to last an eternity.
Addison knocked this way out of the park. Her writing style is second to none. I get drug into her worlds so easily and I find myself unable and unwilling to leave.
I was desperate for more of Jade and Malcolm since I was first introduced to them in Bite Me. I was super excited when Ms. Cain announced that she would be continuing their story and it definitely didn’t disappoint! Cathedral is a standalone dark romance set in the bloody, gory and depraved world of modern day vampires. Though not necessary, I would suggest reading Catacombs prior to diving into Cathedral as it would give some valuable backstory and add more color to certain characters. While, as one might expect from Addison Cain, this story is not for the faint of heart and full of her signature brand of violence and depravity, the epic love story is what really shines through. I absolutely love Malcolm and his unwavering devotion to Jade even in the face of her hatred. He really made this book come alive for me and I could just live on these pages with him forever! Jade is such a tragic character, used, manipulated and unloved. It was great seeing her come into her own and find love and a purpose. I was also really intrigued by Vladislov and would love to see more from him. This book wrapped all the delicious twisted fun with an incredibly sweet and well deserved HEA. Definitely recommend for all fans of Addison Cain and dark romance.
