“Addison Cain’s writing blows me away each time!” NYT Bestselling author Anna Zaires My love for her is forbidden. When the princess was placed in my care, the devil ordered that I never show his daughter mercy, affection, or a gentle hand. To keep her safe from the denizens of our dark king’s Cathedral, Jade’s life as my ward has been pitiless. She despises me. Yet I am utterly, irrevocably in … has been pitiless. She despises me.
Yet I am utterly, irrevocably in love.
Infamous for my coldness, unquestioned in my fealty, the devil forgets that there are older, more terrible monsters in the dark—and I have sold my soul to the most ancient of evil so that Jade might one day be mine.
CATHERDRAL is a standalone novel in the Cradle of Darkness series culminating in an HEA. The horror prequel, Catacombs, will enrich the experience of this book but is not necessary.

This a dark romance not for the faint of heart. I would say this is one of Addison Cain’s tammer books. Although the series is dark, Cathedral has more romance than expected compared to Addison Cain’s other series. Be sure to read Bite Me and Catacombs before this book as there is alot of background information you will need. Overall this is an enjoyable read for those of us that like dark romance.
What began in Catacombs continues here with Jade’s story. Jade tries to make her way in a world ruled by her father. Desperate for more day walkers and more political favor, her father uses her sexuality like another weapon in his arsenal. Enter Malcolm, her protector, and the only being interested in Jade for who she really is. Even in the darkness, the author manages to insert bits and pieces of romance between the two vampires. The world building in this one is good, as the author manages to blend modern day with a dark vampire world. The author insert lots of fine details for each of the characters and the world. The ending left me feeling like I missed a lot of detail and honestly made me want to start over. This one is definitely worth reading. Heed the dark warning though, when Addison Cain says dark, she means dark.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I’ve loved Malcolm since I first met him in Once Bitten. I only love him more now! Jade too, but Malcolm is my real love! What can I say, I have dark tastes? I even liked Vladislov! This was a deliciously dark and tasty tale… if you like dark romance and/or vampire tales, I definitely recommend it!!
I really enjoyed this book it had some dark tones to the book. I really enjoyed the interaction between the characters the book was hands down amazing no spoilers here.
I’m not sure how a story can be so dark, but end so well. Especially since Addison Cain enjoys torturing her characters so much. If you are new to Cain’s writing this would be the perfect book to start with. It’s dark, but not as soul crushing (in a good way) as some of her other stories. It’s the perfect book if you are looking for intense, but still light.
Malcolm loves and protects Jade from afar as much as he can without giving himself away to her father. Even having to watch her relationships with other men play out in front of him.
Jade is an immortal but she can walk in the light unlike the other vampires. Her father Darius is the devil. Malcolm has always protected Jade from birth and is in love with her. This is a dark, dub-con, read that is delicious.
Addison does it again! Another great read filled with dark depraved deliciousness! This author is a literary genius, I dont know how she does it. Thank the devil that I stumbled upon her books years ago, otherwise I’d be missing out on her wicked reads. This story is filled with so many unique characters and the typical vampire tropes are nowhere to be found in this masterpiece. Please never stop writing addison!
I absolutely devoured this! Blood, guts, bones and all.
Just like all the other Addison Cain books, I couldn’t put this down for the life of me. Or in Jade’s case undead life. The story continues right from where the anthology left off. Actually the portion within the anthology was in the beginning for those that didn’t get a chance to read it.
The story of Jade and Malcom is becoming one of me favorites. Right up there with Claire and Shepherd.
The worldbuilding and the pace is quite frankly perfect. You feel as if you’re there and the descriptions aren’t over the top. You can’t help but feel for the characters and understand them. Even with being vampires they are realistic in most ways.
Cathedral by Addison Cane is a dark read which shows the story of Jade and Malcolm and what people or rather vampires will do to survive in a world set against them. The book starts out hot and heavy with Jade and her group of men that she must bed to produce the next heir, whilst fending off her sadistic father Darius. In the background is Malcolm trying to keep her safe (at least you think he is). This book has a lot of interesting twists and turns, characters that all have their own agenda and some very dark, raunchy scenes between jade and the various people that she must bed.
We also see into Jade’s memories on why she is the way she is and what she must do to survive, especially since she is seen as weak in the vampire work. It is hard to imagine her being so strong, sweet and fiercely independent when you read what has been done/what is being done to her. Malcolm is sort of an anti-hero as for me I never quite knew what side he was on and whether he had some ulterior motives.
This book was a good read for me and I feel that I should have read catacombs beforehand so that I understood what is going on. I definitely think that this book isn’t for everyone mainly die to its dark content which not everyone will appreciate. But if you like dark, twisted novels with no reprieve, then this is certainly the one for you.
ARC received for a fair and honest review.

I know Ms. Addison can get just a tad gruesome sometimes and this is slightly dark but it totally works. Jade has been reaching for her father’s approval her whole life. And for a woman of vampire blood, that’s been quite a while. But as some of us knows that approval may not always come. But there is one who truly revers her and it’s her very own nemesis, Malcolm. But unbeknown to Jade, she has become his all-to-end-all obsession. He has watched her from afar for so long but now he might have his chance at eternal love. But can he help Jade recover what she’s lost over time ?? Can she remember who she truly is, inside and out. “Cathedral” will keep you guessing at what’s real or just a conjured up riddle with no plot line. Stay focused on these two or else lose your own mind. Trust me, if I could rate it higher tha 5 stars, I sure as h*ll would. Thank You Ms. Addison – Again.
“If a kiss were life, if it were death and rebirth. If it were ownership. That was what was poured past my lips. Into me like blood.”
This is Jade’s full story. If you read the previously released short story Catacombs you will recognize a part of it as the beginning of Cathedral. You do not need to read Catacombs but it brings more background to the characters and the overall story line.
Jade was an abomination something her father made sure she never forgot. A toy to be dusted off on occasion, played with then forgotten until the whim arose again.
Malcolm was her guardian, as cruel as her father at times.
He watched over her, protected her, coveted her.
This was such a twisted tale. Nothing was truly as it seemed. Even when I thought I had the web untangled I was just deluding myself.
I’m not one to give spoilers but hang in there and pay attention to the little things – even when the darkness creeps along the edges of your psyche triggering the need to abandon hope- turn away…
Hold on –
It’s not always black and white – eventually, comeuppance in the color of crimson will flow freely within the halls of the Cathedral
“I think he did love you, however, creatures like him know how to love. “
After I started this darkly chilling read I was firmly in Jade’s corner. Let’s face it Darius( Jade’s father) has made her life a torturous nightmare that could drive anyone over the edge. Malcolm his second seemed to be continuing on with this agenda but in reality he was taking care of her in the only way he could. The characters in this story are vampires( not the good guys) so you won’t get warm fuzzy cuddly scenes but you will get grippingly brutal scenes that are so intense that they leave you thirsting for more. Cathedral was a multi layered story that kept on surprising this reader until the end.
OMG, I love Jade and Malcolm. There is so much tension, chemistry, attraction, and energy between the two of them. There’s just so much there, and it’s impossible to not get grabbed and dragged into their story because they are just that magnetic.
Jade has that fragile, crazy, vulnerable, strong, powerful edge that Addison Cain seems to do really well. It’s a very careful line to walk, and one step too far to either side and Jade’s character would totally fail. The fact is, she really doesn’t fail. She’s perfectly imperfect perfection, and I totally adore her. I really love that whole crazy broken powerful kind of heroine.
Malcolm has that whole protective, dominant, alpha kind of vibe. He loves Jade so much, and it’s so obvious that he does. Everything he does, he does for her, and he does everything possible to make sure she’s safe. I think there is something a little different to the way that he takes care of Jade and the way that he takes care of her. It’s fantastic.
NEW from Addison Cain!
I finished this book and had to take the rest of the night off in contemplation. This book blew my mind.
What a delicious, crazy rollercoaster of feels packaged in the darkness we love. Addison Cain has outdone herself and has firmly maintained her control as the reigning queen of darkness. Awe inspiring is not nearly powerful enough to describe this book. You need this in your life.
This book is classic Addison, from a blunt, brutal plot, to twists no one expects, she has knocked it out of the park with Cathedral. Malcolm was quickly my favorite character, with his manner and intention, I loved how his character developed and revealed intentions in such a subtle way. A dark, twisted journey that will haunt you long after the last page has turned.
This was probably the most deliciously dark read thst still ended with a HEA. It was intriguing yet a light read considering this author is known for her dark horror stories. This is a continuation of A. Cain dark vampire series and it was the perfect conclusion. I had a lot of questions in reference to the first story Catacombs. I must say the story explained a lot. I reccomend you read Catacombs first to obtain a richer understanding of the characters and the dark world in which they live. This a highly recommended great read.
Reign of blood
Jade, daywalker daughter to Darius their vampire king. Sold, bartered, bred, raped, controlled, manipulated, despised and more. All by the one who should have protected and loved her.
Malcolm is Jades keeper, watcher, disciplinarian and controlled by Darius as well. But there are forces in play in this dark, brutal, sexual, intense multi-layered story. Set in a world of classes and heirarchy, while by birth Jade is Royal in Dariuses court she is the lowest of low on the vampire tree. But Malcom sees opportunity for change, there will be power shifts, betrayals, secrets revealed and a new dynasty will rise from the ashes….
Addison Cain just keeps getting better. I don’t think she has had a miss yet!
In this we get the continuation of Macolm and Jade’s story and I must say that it was spectacular. I liked being able to have an insight into Macolm’s head for a change. (Normally, the stories rarely feature the men’s insight with few exceptions)
I love Jade. I love Malcom.
Reading about Jade’s tragic upbringing was heart wrenching and truly gave a great backdrop and background to Jade who is admittedly a spoiled brat. But! Completely understandable. The darkest parts of her past were gag worthy. Her helplessness as she was twisted and warped mentally by her deranged father truly gave her the humanization she desperately needed to not be a complete villain.
Addison writes good tragedy.
And can’t wait to hear more from one of my favorites! I NEED resolution for her story. I also would like a nice stand off between her and Jade. I was a bit upset at Jade’s reaction before I realized what it must’ve looked like to her to see this woman at her important day with no warning.
This is a great story with great characters. This story has great twists and suspense. I didn’t want to put it down.
I received a review copy of this book and I am voluntarily giving an honest review
