I loved this book!! Low drama, just enough to keep it interesting, a sexy alpha male and a sweet heroine. Tyler is the perfect guy. He’s sweet, protective, knows what he wants and romantic too.
Leah literally falls into Tyler’s life while chasing her cat, Mouse, who jumped in his house window. Not realizing she has a new neighbor, she crawls through the window after him. She’s tired of dating the wrong guys and wants a man who isn’t afraid to commit to what he wants. Tyler becomes that man and so much more. They had great chemistry together too.
An easy and enjoyable read.
This was an sweet insta-love romance read. There’s no other way to describe this story but sweet and funny with a touch of drama and a lot of steamy scenes. Leah and her cat Mouse, and Tyler and his dog Bruce will make you fall in love with them from beginning to end. I loved how Tyler stood up to his mom when it came to Leah. If you love Hallmark movies this book is for you. The story was sweet and the ending was even sweeter.
This book couldn’t have been more perfect for me than if Leah’s name was Michelle! (although my boss’s name is Tyler, that could be weird….) I adored every little bit and piece and word of this story. From the laugh-out-loud moments, to the rocky, heart-twisting moments, from the anxious moments to the swoony moments, from the first meeting to the happily-ever-after – Catching Him provided everything I need and wish for in a contemporary romance story.
Tyler was my kind of perfect alpha hero – strong, protective, patient, but definitely take no crap and determined. Flawed and real, but yet forgivable and lovable. Leah was sweet, smart, just dorky enough and just sassy enough, strong and vulnerable, and her own special version of flawed and real and beautiful that makes you either so easily identify with her, or need a girl like her in your life.
This story takes the best features possible for characters, setting, and world building and arranges them masterfully. I wanted to start to reread the story before I was even a quarter of the way done just to make it last longer and soak it in more! Catching Him quickly became one of my most beloved and treasured stories I look forward to revisiting often.
I’m delighted this is the first of a series and I hope the rhythm, the feel, the atmosphere continues to flow through the following books.
3.5 stars. Catching Him is an entertaining, cute and funny read. This is Tyler and Leah’s story. After Tyler moves in next door, the two meet when Leah’s cat escapes her front door and jumps into the open window in his house. After that, Tyler’s dog keeps escaping to Leah’s house as well. Tyler and Leah become friends, as do their pets, which leads to more. They fall in love, while dealing with some family and ex drama along the way.
I enjoyed Tyler and Leah’s story. They are funny and sweet together. There is little angst between them and they get together and stay together. My only complaint is that there is little to distinguish it from most of Ms. Reynolds’s other books. It has the same key phrases and characterizations. Still, Catching Him is an easy, safe, sweet read. I enjoyed the book and look forward to more from Ms. Reynolds in the future!
What a great way to start off a new series! Catching Him is full of all the comedy and alpha-ness that you know you crave from Aurora Rose Reynolds! Leah and Tyler were amazing and the chemistry was off the charts! This may be my newest favorite meet-cute! There are not enough stars for this book! HUGE FIVE STARS!!
CATCHING HIM (How to Catch an Alpha Book 1) by Aurora Rose Reynolds is a new contemporary romance by a new to me author and I will be looking for more books in her series. This book left me with a smile and the happy feeling that there are still romances being written with no over-the-top relationship angst or drama; just a feel-good relationship with a likable alpha hero and smart heroine and just a touch of suspense.
Leah Emerson is sweet, upbeat and beautiful inside and out. She works with her grandma and mother every day as a stylist in their hair salon. Her two brothers are married with kids and her mother wants the same for her, but she has decided that she is done with relationships where she is the person chasing and settling. She is willing to wait for the “right” man.
Tyler Duncan recently moved into town for a new job as a construction foreman for his friend’s company. He is focused on his new job and not looking for a relationship, but when his beautiful next-door neighbor falls through his window chasing her wayward kitten, he knows he wants her.
Tyler is sexy, confident and protective and Leah is very attracted, but is he the right man for Leah?
I love this hero and heroine! Tyler is the type of alpha male every girl should have. Leah is smart, upbeat and compassionate, but protective of her heart after being disappointed by men in the past. The relationship comes together in a realistic way with fun dialogue, funny situations and hot sex scenes that are explicit, but not gratuitous. All the secondary characters add depth to the story, including the pets. The story focuses on the romance, but there is a small bit of suspense added for the drama you do not get from the relationship.
This romance put a smile on my face, had laugh-out-loud situations and dialogue and left a warm and fuzzy feeling in my heart. I am anxiously awaiting the next book by this author.
Wow! I just fell in love with another series of Aurora Rose Reynolds and can’t wait for more! Leah and Tyler are one of my new favorite couples and Tyler may just be my new book boyfriend. Their relationship is funny, comfortable, light-hearted with some struggles thrown in and lots of steam. Yes, Tyler still has those qualities you love so much form Aurora’s books with his over-protectiveness, caveman, alpha qualities. But they mesh so well with Leah and their relationship that you can’t help but swoon. I was sucked in from the first sentence and couldn’t stop laughing. You also get that family close-knit community we love so much and it’s the perfect recipe for catching him! The side characters also catch your attention and now I want more of them!
I received an ARC copy of this in exchange for my honest review. But I would gladly pay for this. I loved it!
I loved this swoon-worthy, sweet, sexy, and incredibly entertaining story. I had a blast reading it and fell completely in love with Leah and Tyler. This was such a heartwarming read and it left me with a huge smile on my face.
I totally loved this sweet, somewhat fluffy alpha romance. There was just the right mix of light hearted drama, comedy and heat. Definitely keen for more of this series, feels a bit like the return to the old school ARR awesomeness!
Its no secret I am a fan of AAR and when I hear she has a new series coming out I get super excited. With this start to this new series I think she has already gotten me hooked on this How to Catch an Alpha series.
AAR has brought us a hot, sweet romance with minimal angst. She has given us humour and swoon in one book. I had this book devoured in one afternoon enjoying the sunshine in the garden.
The main characters in Leah and Tyler are enticing. Leah was a feisty, amusing heroine who you can’t help but fall in love with want her to be your friend. Tyler will make you swoon and your panties wet. He wants Leah from the moment they first meet, which it totally hilarious and a serious meet-cute.
Can’t wait to see who AAR brings us next in this series.
Catching Him by Aurora Rose Reynolds will deliver exactly what you want in a contemporary romance if you like sweet heroines and devoted heroes! This was a quick read overall, but gives you all the happy vibes you need!
Leah is very sweet and down to earth. She has been burned by guys in the past so she refuses to settle or chase a man. She meets her new neighbor, Tyler, and there is instant attraction. But, she is going to wait for him to make a move. The angst is low for the most part-she has one douchebag ex who causes some issues, his mom is a bit rude-and I appreciated the focus on building a relationship. They are friends first and build some trust. Tyler has an adorable dog and Leah has a ‘runner’ cat and both pets add to the levity. There is also deep family bonds throughout the story. Leah is close with her family and that relationship is important to the story. Tyler doesn’t live near his family, but they are a part of his life and play a role in the story.
Overall, Catching Him is a short and sweet read for those who want a straight forward romance. The angst is low, the characters are sweet, and the plot is engaging.
Catching Him is the first title in the How to Catch an Alpha series. Leah and Tyler’s are an honest and likeable pair, their story is a sweet, swoony, heartfelt romance.
Leah Emerson is sweet, kind, sincere and cheerful and has very strong ties with her family. Tyler Duncan is a protective, possessive and hard working alpha.
I adored everything about this fast paced, steamy romance from their meet cute, to the touch of intrigue, and the fact that their romance is low in angst and drama.
The secondary characters were incredibly likeable, and I hope that we get to see some more of them in future addition to the How to Catch an Alpha series.
Catching Him was a great read. I loved it. I loved loved Tyler and Leah. Tyler was swoony, possessive and sexy. Leah was really sweet. Tyler and Leah had amazing chemistry and were just perfect together!
Catching Him is the start of something. It’s the first book in the How to Catch an Alpha series and I look forward to what I hope is a ton more. This feel good story has an unforgettable meet cute, two more than cute pets, and an Alpha you will be tripping on yourself to snag!
Sexy, sweet, and perfect are the words to describe Tyler. These two are adorable together and made my day! If you need an extra dose of sweet and sexy, look no further!
Another awesome book by Aurora Rose Reynolds. This book was amazing.
Loved Leah. She is how I like my heroines in the books I read. Funny, sassy, sweet and also strong. She meets Tyler when she literally fall into his life. He’s her arrogant, cocky and hot neighbor.
Tyler..he is protective and possessive alpha male. Loved him. He knew what he wanted and he wants Leah.
This story is a light read with little to no angst and we get a lot of couple time that I loved very much.
The chemistry between Leah and Tyler and was hot. I’ve read it in one sitting.
I couldn’t put it down and didn’t want it to end.
I really can’t wait to read more of this series.
STARS!!
“I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review”
‘Catching him’ is the first book of a new series. I’m very happy that I got the chance to read this book because this story reminded me again why I love reading romance stories so much. It had the perfect blend of everything that I love in my romance books. A bit of fun, a bit of suspense, a bit of sweet and a lot of love. It was just perfect.
I loved the main characters, Leah and Tyler very much. From the funny way that they met until the epilogue. Leah’s character had this great mix of being sassy, funny, adorable, intelligent, thoughtful and caring. And Tyler was this alpha guy who was determined, honest, considerate and very protective. It was lovely to see how Leah and Tyler cared for each other and to feel their love for their family too. (Their family were the spice in this blend. They brought humour and that little extra to the story.) I also enjoyed the chemistry between the couple and their interaction.
‘Catching him’ is this sweet, funny, small town love story. It’s told mostly from Leah’s POV but it also had a few POV’s from Tyler. There was a little suspense in it, but it was very small. Another thing that I loved about this story were the epilogues in the end. I LOVED them!
I enjoyed this book very much and I’m already looking forward to the next book in this series.
I’ve read other Aurora Rose Reynolds titles in the past and I’ve enjoyed them. I will continue to read her other titles as well. Unfortunately for me, this title fell flat for me. I loved the first half of the book which is where my three stars come in. However, the last half of the book completely bombed for me. The use of “baby” is one of my pet peeves and I don’t think Tyler said anything to her that didn’t have the word “baby” in it. And the whole alpha male thing? I wasn’t feeling it. The whole “danger” part of the book I found forced. It didn’t make sense to me – I feel like that aspect should have been explored more so it didn’t feel so forced and confused as to what happened – I don’t want to give it away so you’ll have to read to find out for yourself.
Don’t get me wrong – the concept of the book is super cute. Next door neighbors. The witty banter back and forth. The sexual tension. The slow burn in the beginning. However, once that slow burn was flamed out, I felt like the book took a nose dive into cliche central. The one was just a miss for me. However, just because it was a miss for me means it will be a miss for you, so go ahead and check this out if you like romantic comedy like books.
Catching Him is a funny, light and sweet romance. The whole book was filled with sugary sweetness from Leah and Tyler, their family, their small townfolks, and their lovely pets. Tyler was an alpha who knew Leah was exactly what he wanted. I loved that their relationship was candid and honest without any mind-games. There was a minor suspenseful storyline regarding some criminal activity that was targeted the couple. However, it was resolved quickly.
I enjoyed this low drama, sweet and easy read. If you are looking for something nice and fluffy, this would be a great choice.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
This was a cute and fun tale, with a little bit of a mystery thrown in. I really enjoyed it!
Leah Emerson co-owns a successful hair salon with her mom and grandma in the small town of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. She pretty much has her life together, but she’s never had much luck with relationships. She’s in her 30s, she owns her house, and she adopted a cat (the most difficult one at the shelter, not to mention). Her cat, Mouse, has a propensity for running away whenever the mood strikes, and once when he escapes outside, he climbs in the open window of the house next door. She believes the house is still vacant, so she crawls in after him, in nothing but a tank top and undies, first thing in the morning. But, of course, there’s a sexy new neighbor living there, and she is mortified. Talk about a meet cute! But, in addition to her embarrassment, he annoys her, and she avoids him for the next week or so. But boy does she like looking at him through the window…
Tyler Duncan just recently relocated from Tennessee to take a new job as a construction foreman for his friend’s remodeling business. When he first meets Leah, he seems smitten, but he keeps aggravating her somehow and she avoids him. Luckily, his dog, Bruce, is his wingman, and gets himself “lost” over at Leah’s house, and she falls in love with the dog. After that, he and Leah become friends and start hanging out all the time. Tyler really wants Leah, but he’s playing the long game, wooing her while getting to know her, to make her comfortable with the idea of dating him.
Tyler and Leah had sparks right from the start, and I loved their constant banter and arguing. They really fell for each other gradually, after their initial attraction, and I adored that. Both of the their families were fun, and interesting, and I loved their interactions with them as well. Tyler’s mom had to get a grip, but once she did, she was great too. I enjoyed watching each of them with the other’s family too.
There was a little mystery/suspense plot here, but I felt like I knew who the bad guy was right away, and I was right. It wasn’t a super crucial part of the story, so figuring it out immediately didn’t really hamper my enjoyment of it at all. I’m curious if all the books in this series will have a similar mystery element, or if that just happened to fit the plot for this one.
This is only the second or third book I’ve read from this author, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. I love stories where the hero is all in from the start, and this was definitely that, even when Leah wasn’t recognizing that fact immediately. Tyler was an awesome, swoonworthy hero, and I couldn’t get enough of him. I wouldn’t have minded having a bit more of the story from his POV, rather than 90% being from Leah’s POV. I enjoyed several of the side characters here, especially Leah’s bestie, and Tyler’s sister. Hopefully Leah’s friend will have her own book soon!
Who knew looking for a lost cat would put Leah on the path of finding her forever man.
I loved Leah in this book. I felt that she was very relatable. She is kind, warm, and semi awkward. One really weird relationship that I loved was the one she had with Bruce the dog. She is a woman who doesn’t want a man and because of this she misses all the signs that Tyler was sending.
Tyler is a man who knows what he likes when he sees it. So when he meets his new neighbor in her underwear after she broke into his house, he has been in love. He has done everything to get Leah’s attention, even friend zoned her for awhile but when Tyler is ready to claim his woman, nothing will stop him.
I loved that Tyler’s mom doesn’t scare her off and the thing happening Leah doesn’t scare Tyler off.
I really enjoyed this book!
