This one was so good. It was sweet and hot and sexy and that is just Tyler. Add in Leah who is totally great and so optimistic I found myself cheering them along. Definitely a perfect read or listen!
As is often the case with books by Aurora Rose Reynolds, this book captivated me right from the beginning! I loved Leah and Trevor’s meet-cute: there’s nothing like an onery cat to bring two people together! But I really loved how Trevor and Leah came to be; after failed relationships, Leah was done doing the chasing, and wanted a man who knew what he wanted. Trevor slowly worked his way into Leah’s life, beginning with forming a friendship.
Catching Him was a great introduction to a new series by Reynolds, with a whole new cast of characters! I look forward to more!
I was only about 5 pages into this book, and I was already laughing so hard I was crying. This book starts off with laughs, and ends with an “awwwe”. I can’t say enough how much I enjoyed this book. Even though this isn’t part of the Until series, the “boom” that I’ve come to expect from this author was still there. If you are a fan of insta-love the way I am, this is definitely the book for you!
Leah has had absolutely zero luck with guys. She’s tired of being the one to do all the work, put all the effort into her relationships. She’s tired of being the one to make all the moves. Little does she know that the new neighbor is going to be making some moves of his own!
Tyler has moved to a totally new state, chasing an opportunity to make a better life for himself. He hasn’t even gotten settled yet, and he’s surprised by Leah, and her craziness. One look is enough to set him on a new path, to let him know what he wants, and show him where his future lies. Now he just has to convince Leah……
This was such a fun, amazing story! I loved Leah and Tyler, as well as their immediate, smoking hot connection! This is definitely going on my re-read list! And it’s one I’m going to be talking about for a while to come!
Catching Him is the first book in Aurora Rose Reynolds, How to Catch an Alpha Series. What can I see about this book, who doesn’t love an alpha who goes after what he wants. Tyler is a total alpha male, complete with a protective, loyal dog named Bruce. Leah a woman who is in Tyler’s sites. I love how from the start Tyler is claiming what or who he wants, Leah. The back and forth banter between the two makes this and easy and enjoyable read. If you like an alpha male in your romance then you will like this book.
A great first book in this new series, fun characters and everything you expect from an ARR book, a strong, funny heroine and a hot as hell alpha who sees what he wants and takes it.
I enjoyed the progression of the story, the introduction of the side characters who’s books we will also be getting, and I loved the first meeting of the main characters. This book was everything I was hoping for from ARR’s new series but also, so much more. I can’t wait for more from this series.
So…these two meet when she literally falls into his window in her tank top and panties….I couldn’t make that up if I wanted to….so funny. I feel like this could be every hot guys dream, having a hot girl fall into their house half dressed…..just sayin. Her cat is quite the escape artist and likes to flee anywhere it can get. She thought his house was still empty, which is also an hilarious part of the conversation. She tries to avoid him after their embarrassing encounter, but he will not be ignored. He just kind of inserts himself in her life, she’s not really great at taking hints, but I just want to say that none of my guy friends hold my hand….just sayin. She may be a little naïve. He is the perfect “friend” before she realizes he really wants a lot more.
This was a safe read, nobody after they start dating. She does go on a date after she meets him, but it was an ex that her mom guilted her into going with…and Tyler and his dog were there waiting for her when she got back. We get some great secondary characters, not including his mom…not a fan of that one at all. As always there is a little suspense, which I love. And I want to add that Leah is a bit of a badass. I also wanted to say kudos for their favorite burger being the BOOM…nice touch. These two have a ton of chemistry, we get an epilogue and an hea.
This is a great start to a new series and such a sweet read. These two were so sweet together and sure did turn up the heat. Tyler and Leah had great chemistry.
Leah is single and co-owns a salon with her mom and grandma. She stays busy helping run the family business and take her clients. She is wanting to settle down one day but is so picky. Leah never expected she would meet someone like Tyler, they don’t get along at all. He is new in town and works in construction. Tyler wasn’t looking to meet anyone but once he meets Leah he can’t back down. He will do whatever it takes to win her over.
I really enjoyed this sweet read and can’t wait for the next book in this series.
Tyler is new in town and can’t believe his luck when Leah literally falls into his life. She’s everything he’s ever wanted and will do what it takes to win her over.
As all ARR books, her men and are so swoony and alpha that you’re sighing a lot of over the men and I loved that Leah is a strong woman and stands up for herself.
Loved these two together and are stronger together when unwanted occurrences start happening. Will they find out who is behind it before someone gets hurt?
4 Stars!
Leah Emerson is a beautiful 33 yr. old single woman that lives in the tourist town of Mount Pleasant in South Carolina. She works as a hair stylist at the salon she co-owns with her mom and grandma. The family business keeps her busy, but that doesn’t mean she wouldn’t like to find that special someone to share her life with. She’s picky and won’t settle for just any man. She wants Mr. Right. Then she unexpectedly meets a gorgeous, arrogant man that drives her crazy. Her free spirited cat keeps climbing into the window of the house next door that has been empty for months. Turns out she has a new neighbor named Tyler Duncan. She clashes right away with the alpha male hottie, and tries to avoid him, but soon he’s all she can think about.
Tyler is new to town, and works in construction. He’s there for work, and didn’t plan on meeting a woman he would want so desperately. Never one to back down from a challenge, he goes after Leah with everything he has. Before long she can’t resist him, and he makes her feel things she’s never felt before with anyone else. He’s slowly winning over her heart, but will she let herself fall in love?
Catching Him (How to Catch an Alpha) is book one in a new series by Aurora Rose Reynolds that is fun, flirty, and sexy. I really enjoyed this lighthearted, super cute story and look forward to reading more in this series!
Romance Rehab: book recs, author services, general badassery: http://www.romancerehab.com/
It’s a light, low-angst romance about emotionally mature grown-ups. Yippee!!
Plot overview: Leah falls for her hot new neighbor Tyler. A mature, sexy relationship ensues. It’s a good friends-to-lovers romance.
This book is probably not going to be for everyone. While there is a suspense-y subplot, it’s not as major as the blurb would lead you to believe. This is very much like a Kristen Ashley romance where the suspense rears its head toward the end of the book, but up until then, it’s really just the story of how a cool couple of people meet and fall in love. So if you’re looking for nonstop action, this one is NOT for you. (And if you’re looking for a thrilling mystery, this one also might not be for you. I knew who the bad guy was RIGHT away.)
Leah is a fun, quirky heroine. She loves her job, loves her rescue cat, and is of an age where she’s not looking for Mr. Right Now. She wants to settle down and have a family, but she’s not desperate and out searching relentlessly for a man. She’s letting everything play out organically, and I loved that about her. She’s also not weighed down with tons of emotional baggage. She’s emotionally healthy, and willing and able to accept love into her life. She’s a grown-up. I can’t stress that enough. I’m getting way too old to read about young kids who can’t get their crap together enough to talk about their feelings. That’s not a problem for Leah. She’s my kind of heroine.
Tyler is a great, Kristen Ashley-ish alpha hero. He’s never an alphahole, though. He goes after what he wants, and he wants Leah, but he’s not overly demanding about it. He’s perfectly willing to take things slow with her and let her get to know him before putting any romance-y moves on her. I liked his patience. And like Leah, he wasn’t bogged down by any emotional baggage and unnecessary angst. He was delightful, really.
Secondary characters were interesting, but didn’t intrude on the story too much. It was a nice balance.
Sexy times are of the VERY sexy variety, so if you’re looking for sweet, fade-to-black moments, you’ll want to avoid this one. Ahem.
So, long-story-short, if you’re a Kristen Ashley fan (or an Aurora Rose Reynolds fan, I suppose), you’ll want to check this one out. I thoroughly enjoyed the leisurely pace and the maturity level of it all.
Talk about the perfect guy – Tyler is almost too good to be true in this book! That’s really the premise of this light, funny and hard to put down book. The story follows Leah and Tyler, two neighbors who have combustible chemistry from the moment they meet (which is a hysterical meet cute featuring a cat named Mouse). Much of the book is told from Leah’s perspective, and she’s not sure what to think about the amazing and sexy guy who lives next door to her. Tyler keeps inviting himself over, they cook dinner every night, spend nearly every free minute together and she swears he keeps flirting with her… but he never tries to kiss her pursue anything more. She’s tired of men who play games with her feelings, so Leah decides to wait him out and see if he is actually interested in more.
This book doesn’t play by the rules of the typical romance novel – our couple spends scene after scene together, leading with friendship and establishing a deep connection. I found myself looking at the progress bar on my Kindle thinking, whoa how are they so close already? I’m not sure how to describe it, but this book moves at its own speed and that really kept me on my toes. There were times when I was just waiting for the other shoe to drop because I liked Tyler so much – and Leah feels the same way. When NetGalley offered me an ARC in exchange for an honest review, I recognized this author but had never read any of her books before. I will definitely be changing that in the future, because her writing is great and the characters are extremely likeable and relatable.
This was one of the cutest concepts, ever! Throughout the story, instead of chapter titles, I was given suggestions for “How to catch an Alpha.” How adorable these were! It was almost a play on all of the alpha books I’ve read in the past & encompassed all the things a heroine does to catch her alpha. The part I enjoyed the most, was that the story wasn’t supremely cheesy, but rather an adorable excerpt of reality.
Tyler and Leah are next door neighbors. Their first encounter is less than stellar, in fact it’s so awful that Leah is completely avoiding him! When their paths cross again, they enter into this unexpected friendship that is endearing. The attraction is there, but both of them want to respect the boundaries of the other, so they build their friendship into a real thing. I love seeing this. Along with their friendship, we see the suggestions in each chapter play out and Leah make her way into catching her alpha.
I related to Leah on a lot of things, one of them being old enough to be past the childish games of mixed feelings and inconsistency. She doesn’t want to continually pursue men who aren’t pursuing her back. Amen, sister! What a change it would be for the man to make it crystal clear that he was coming for you? I loved this about her and I loved her honesty to herself, and Tyler, regarding this fact. Although they do develop a friendship, I could still see Tyler pursuing Leah, even though she couldn’t see it.
Also, I fell in love with this town! I love Leah’s best friend, her family, and the fact that she runs a hair salon with her mom and Grams. Overall, this story made me laugh, caught my heart, and was everything I needed to read.

Aurora Rose Reynolds has an unbelievably fast way of always sweeping me off my feet. I can lie and tell you I have no idea why, but the truth always lies within her alpha males. These men are hot, sweet, and a tad bit protective. They’re everything that dirty dreams are made of and Tyler just surpassed them all!
About Catching Him:
Catching Him is the first book in the How To Catch An Alpha series by Aurora Rose Reynolds. This novel is also told from both Leah and Tyler’s point of view.
Leah is sick of the dating scene, she’s sick of always doing the chasing and ending up broken and alone in the end. She wants to feel needed in a way that she’s never felt needed before. She wants a man to want to work for her time and her affection.
Tyler is new to town and the last thing he expected was to wake up to a loud noise and find his neighbor sprawled on the floor beneath his guest bedroom window after sneaking in to get her intruding cat. Nor does he expect to feel an instant attraction to his new neighbor. But just from one look he realizes this woman is one that he’s going to have to work for. She’s different than the others. She’s everything he’s been searching for.
Although they are happy, their about to come to the realization that there is someone else who isn’t too happy about their newly developed relationship and a little suspense gets thrown in the mix.
My Thoughts:
I’ve been needing a strong dose of Alpha Male in my reading lately, and as luck would have it, Aurora Rose Reynolds’ book happened to be the next one on my tbr. So let’s start with how I felt about the characters.
First up is the alpha in question, Mr. Tyler Duncan. Lately I haven’t been feeling much of an alpha vibe in what I’ve been reading. Sure they have alpha tendencies but more than most they just come across as assholes. So when I started reading Catching Him, I was honestly expecting him to be the asshole alpha that so many novels are writing about. Well, I’m so freaking happy that my expectations were all wrong! Tyler Duncan is sweet as pie, but you mess with this man or his loved ones and he can go from sweet to mean in a matter of milliseconds. He’s the perfect example of the alpha’s that I love in romance novels. And of course this man also has the sexy down to a T. So with the sexytude, the endearing charm, and his protective streak, I can safely say this man is in the running to be on my top ten alpha’s list.
As for Leah. I was honestly surprised by Leah’s character. I loved the fact that she honestly gave a shit about the people around her and their happiness. She loves with her whole heart and isn’t afraid to step up and fight for those who need a helping hand. But beneath the surface this strong woman has insecurities as we all do. Once in awhile those insecurities show but she didn’t let them overtake her life and her relationship with Tyler. She fought through the bullshit and met him head on with a positive take and a smile. And trust me when I say, Tyler’s mama definitely brought the big guns out, and I don’t think I would have been as calm as she was during those dire moments. This woman is true, she lays it all out on the table and I found myself respecting her more and more with each page turned.
The strong family vibes was one of my absolute favorite things about Catching Him. I loved how if one person was in a bad situation, they all stopped what they were doing and came running. There was so much love all around in this novel and it flowed effortlessly from person to person, and page to page.
Don’t even get me started on Bruce and Mouse!
Bruce is Tyler’s adorable dog who would rather sleep his time away near Leah that go with his own owner. And Mouse is Leah’s new kitten who’s favorite pastime is to hide and jump out at you when you least expect it. Bruce and Mouse definitely brought the laughter to this novel. I loved these two animals and their wild and crazy antics!
Now onto why I rated this a 4 star instead of giving it a full five star rating.
I found the suspense moments to be a tad bit predictable. It was to the point where I literally slapped my forehead and yelled who the suspect of interest was. I knew from the moment ___ came on the screen that ____ was a shifty person. I needed a little more secrecy on that front to not be able to know who the perp was.
Overall, with everything aside regarding the suspenseful moment and my being able to easily pick apart the pieces and predict endings, I loved Catching HIm!! Aurora Rose Reynolds definitely knows how to write a romance worth reading! I was captivated from the start and enamoured through the end. I easily read this book in one sitting. Tyler and Leah’s story was just as steamy as it was sweet. I couldn’t get enough!!!
-Alecia @ The Staircase Reader
In true Aurora Rose Reynolds’ form, she made me swoon HARD for the hero in this book. Tyler was one of the best alphas that I have ever read and I just love him with every fiber of my being. The cocky actions, swoony looks, and smart comebacks are only some of the juicy goodness you will get from this book. I love the amount of angst that ARR injects into her stories; it doesn’t overwhelm it, but they make you feel every emotion. Leah was a true sweetheart. down on her luck with boyfriends, she has basically given up, but Tyler unlocks her heart. I can’t wait to read Aurora’s future books in her How To Catch an Alpha series!
Catching Him is the first book in Aurora Rose Reynold’s How to Catch an Alpha series. Leah’s last relationship has taught her not to chase a man but to let him do the catching. In the meantime she’ll make do with the company of her cat, Mouse. It was down to Mouse & his Houdini like escapades that her introduction to her new neighbour, Tyler, was when she fell through a window in his house in search of her errant cat. And so it began. Tyler is the usual alpha hero we’ve come to expect from ARR, a man you just know loves and respects his family, holds open doors & would never dream of letting a woman pay. Add in his cute dog and what’s not to love! Both Tyler and Bruce know who they want and waste no time in pursuing Leah under the illusion of being ‘just friends’ to start with but it isn’t long before sparks begin to fly.
This book is a sweet, heartfelt romance with just enough hot scenes to stop it being too sugary. Perfect if you’re looking for something to kill a couple of hours but isn’t going to leave you thinking about it afterwards. I can’t help but feel disappointed though by the subplot regarding the supposed threat against Leah. If anything I felt that the blurb for this book is misleading to the reader, mainly this line – “Unfortunately someone else wants Leah – in the worst way. Now Tyler’s on a mission……”. Instead of being an integral part of the plot it almost seemed like an afterthought thrown in to help fill out the last couple of chapters and it wasn’t gone into in any great depth, more a blink and you miss it moment. This was a pity because I feel that if this part of the storyline had been built on I definitely would’ve rated it higher as I loved how the characters were written and the development of their relationship. I feel like I’d like to know them but the disappointment I feel in the overall story means I can only give Catching Him 3 stars
Catching Him is just what I needed!
Fun, sexy, alpha hotness and oh the sweetest couples ever! It simply has it all!
Aurora Rose Reynolds just had me all over my self, falling hard over Leah and Tyler’s story! When you think of the true boom look no future because Aurora is my unicorn author.
I really enjoyed this book by one of my favorite authors!!! Leah is over men and their stupid ways, she has sworn off men and relationships forever. She changes her mind when she meets sexy new neighbor Tyler. Their first meeting went way wrong and started off on the wrong foot. Leah was not amused by Tyler but Tyler’s dog had other ideas and constantly put Leah and Tyler together….seriously his dog was adorable!! Mouse, Leah’s cat had the same idea….she was in love with Tyler. They become friends but it isn’t long until Tyler wants more. Can Leah let her guard down and give Tyler a chance to show her that he is the one for her? What a great story….I laughed, cried, swooned, and fanned myself during the hot steamy moments. This series is going to be amazing and I can’t wait to read the next book. I highly recommend this book to all….well done!!!

M/F Romance
Leah is a snarky, hilarious, caring woman who just wants to find someone to share her life with. Unfortunately, her mom and grandma work with her and are constantly trying to set her up with men they believe would be a good fit for her. Even so, she can’t help but love them. After her last disastrous date with someone she had dated when they were in high school, Leah thinks she’s hit her limit for a while.
Tyler has just moved to the city and is starting a new job. It’s a huge surprise when he finds someone sneaking in through his window… a very attractive and almost naked someone. Their first meeting was hilarious.
Tyler and Leah strike a deal, mainly due to their animals’ whims. Their friendship is something that I really enjoyed watching blossom. When strange things start happening around Tyler and Leah, they have to figure out what’s going on and if someone is after them.
This was such a sweet story and I really loved watching the relationship develop and unfold. I can’t wait to see what happens next because all of the characters were fun to watch.

Ruthie –
This is a fun read with two believable people leading fairly normal lives, and finding chemistry that is definitely worth pursuing. The first time they meet is one of the funniest scenes, but there are plenty of others that made me chuckle.
Tyler, having moved away from family for his job, finds he has a very appealing neighbour, Leah. However, she is definitely somewhat against relationships and so he takes a careful path to her heart. It is helped by his lovable dog and her cat’s acceptance of him. He is very good at being exactly what she needs without pushing and so she catches him almost by default!
A perfect happy, fun, and romantic read, with some very cute and heartwarming scenes. What’s not to like?

Catching Him by Aurora Rose Reynolds is a super sweet book with some laughter in between.
I gotta give it props, not many books I have read use my name so it was fun to read. And the name was well represented.
Leah works with her mother and grandmother in their hair salon that her grandmother owns. Done with men in general, it was suggested she get a cat. A cat which has now gotten her into trouble more than once.
One of the best parts is during the first scene of her sneaking into what she thought was an empty house in her nightshirt and undies only to be met by the new owner. Whoops! And of course the banter with her grandmother and mother.
Tyler, the new neighbor, has an amazing dog. I want his dog. To me, Tyler is more of the silent, brooding type. Protective yes. Alpha, I don’t know, I am not feeling it.
Leah’s and Tyler’s relationship is comfortable. It is one of those meant to be. I enjoyed reading about a blue-collar, hard-working man taking care of what is his. Not like every other book being an office working or president of a company.
3.5 stars
Hot neighbor moves in, you pretend to ignore him after meeting him in the most embarrassing way. Any reader knows where this is going to lead and they won’t be wrong. The heat is obvious, the spark is hot, and the attraction is there.
I loved that this book wasn’t just about falling into bed. The story is told with Tyler being a gentleman. He woo’s and wins her over, meets her parents, stands up to those who are not respectful to her, and he shows her that he is in for the long run. I also loved that Leah didn’t just blow him off, she let him win her over all while keeping her standards high and expecting him to meet them. She respected him, trusted him, and gave him all of her when the timing was right.
Catching Him is a quick and easy book to read. Once I started, I finished it within a few hours and was excited to see what would come next in this series.
