From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Aurora Rose Reynolds comes the first novel in the fun, sexy, and thrilling How to Catch an Alpha series.Leah Emerson isn’t looking for a man—she’s looking for the right man. But her mother’s idea of a great catch leaves her cold, and she’s pretty sure her cocky, arrogant, and way too good-looking new neighbor isn’t the one either. If only her … isn’t the one either. If only her wayward cat would stop jumping through his window, she could get on with her life.
Tyler Duncan moved into town for a new job, not to fall in love. But he always goes after the things he wants in life with steadfast determination…and he wants Leah Emerson. He wants her smiles, he wants her touch, and he definitely wants her in bed.
Unfortunately, someone else wants Leah—in the worst way. Now Tyler’s on a mission to protect the woman he’s falling in love with while proving he’s worth falling for, and Leah must decide whether Tyler is a catch worth catching…

From the minute Leah chases her cat through Tyler’s window I was hooked. Everyone deserves a man who treats her like Tyler treats Leah! Sexy, romantic and oh so hot!
Sparkling moments full of wit, steam, and suspense, Catching Him is utterly sweet and completely heartwarming!
Leah Emerson wasn’t expecting to become just friends with her new next-door neighbor after she breaks into his house to get her cat who has a penchant for running away. She definitely wasn’t expecting to become more than friends with said neighbor… especially since the last guy she was more than friends with gave her heart the runaround. But this just friends notion is more from the start, and Leah’s alpha-boy-next-door has her falling fast.
Tyler Duncan, the alpha-boy-next-door was a goner the moment Leah fell into his window–breaking and entering forgotten as this novel is classic Aurora Rose Reynolds’, giving readers endless trademark B O O M feels! In an instant he cements himself into Leah’s life so deep that Leah is constantly playing catch up in the stages of their relationship as Tyler is emotionally open, always two steps ahead, and consistently exposing his heart with not only his words but his actions too.
The suspense element of this novel is evenly balanced throughout, not overshadowing the romance yet proving to be an essential role in cultivating a steady moving and intriguing plot. With chapter headings that suggest exactly how to catch an alpha, there is no wonder Aurora Rose Reynolds’ all-new series How to Catch an Alpha is a hit with so many–me included!
This review is not only an apology but a goodbye so to speak, I see you raising your eyebrows and making that face as to what I mean. Well, to all the book boyfriends I have loved before, I am truly sorry but it is time for me to move on, I tried to make things work, I was loyal to the end but unfortunately this Alpha caught not only my eye but my heart and soul. Tyson is a man that doesn’t play games, sees what he has been looking for and puts in the effort to not only win Leah’s heart but her trust. This new series by Aurora Rose Reynolds might not be the “Boom” that you were expecting but believe me Catching Him is an explosion of love, emotions and steamy moments that will light you up like the 4th of July. These two will take you on an exploration of humour, passion, drama and some sensual moments. A fantastic introduction to this new series that has me lining up for not only the next book but in lessons on How To Catch an Alpha.
Relationship Goals!
Catching Him is a brand spanking new series by author ARR and I can’t get enough! It starts out with a hilarious meet cute involving Leah chasing a runaway cat through her neighbor’s window not realizing the the house has been sold and a new owner now occupies the previous vacant home. Ladies…meet Tyler! He is a hot alpha male that brings all the BOOM. Not only is he the perfect southern gentleman, he never hesitates to show Leah how he feels. Which brings me to another thing I love about this book; they communicate! No unnecessary drama here.
Overall, I love the characters. I loved the tidbits of hilarity thrown in and most of all, I LOVED the Boom!
Catching Him by Aurora Rose Reynolds is a sassy, sweet and funny romance read that had me instantly hooked. Any book written by ARR is a delicious treat and Catching Him is another sweet hit to the ARR parade.
Leah and Tyler are the main characters in this story. Tyler’s alpha tendencies are swoon-worthy while Leah’s sassy sweet goodness will have you saying “Go Girl”.
The premise of how Tyler and Leah got together is awesome; the chemistry between them is sensational. I loved the emotions and feels in this story. Everything that is in ARR’s stories is written especially well in her new series and in book 1 CH.
I loved the characters, the plot and the chemistry. I loved the ending and can’t wait for book 2.
My Rating: 4.7 stars ********
This was filled with so much sugary goodness. It’s low angst, funny with a protective alpha and a sweet heroine that you can’t help but love. This is my favorite type of a light read. It’s stress free but still delivers what I want in a book.
Tyler is a take charge alpha who knows what he wants and he wants Leah. Leah is a total sweetheart. She’s the type of heroine that everyone just loves to be around. She has had some bad luck with past boyfriends and now she is taking her grandma’s advice. No more chasing men. If they want her, they have to make a move and Tyler is the right man for the job.
We got so much couple time which I love to see in the books I read. There is also some really great side characters as well as some cute scenes with kids. I highly recommend this book, especially to readers who just want a fun, low angst read.
Aurora Rose Reynolds has done it again with this first book on her new series.
This story is witty, cute, hot and a bit of drama. Leah is a sweet, independent woman who has decided to take a break from men until she falls, literally, for her neighbor. Tyler is a hot contractor from Tennessee who doesn’t realize what he is missing until Leah falls into his life. They start off as friends but eventually fall in love.
I loved this book and can not wait to see whose story will be next.
Go read this book, you won’t be disappointed.
Love it!
Book 1 in the How to Catch an Alpha series. Quick read that is perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon. Leah and Tyler had a fun meet cute thanks to their pets and a bedroom window. There was a little drama with an ex but nothing that they couldn’t overcome. Loved their HEA.
An adorably sweet, charming, and romantic story. I was hooked from the beginning with Mouse…that was the perfect start to this book. I absolutely enjoyed every single second of this book.
Catching Him is the newest book in a brand new romance series by Aurora Rose Reynolds. It was a light, fun, signature ARR book, with a whole new cast of characters to get to know and love.
Summary:
Leah Emerson has given up on chasing men. She’s been there, done that, and got the broken heart to show for it. No. She knows what she wants, and it’s going to have to be the right man that chases her. She also knows that her incredibly good looking and arrogant new neighbor is probably not that man. Tyler Duncan followed an opportunity he couldn’t pass up, and now he’s living in a new town with a new job. He wasn’t looking for love until he caught his sexy neighbor breaking into his house. Tyler’s experienced enough to know that good things don’t fall into your life often. Especially not a woman he wants to touch, protect, and take care of so strongly. And he wants Leah. He’s always gone after the things he wants with steadfast determination, and Leah is no different. He’ll catch her, even if it’s with a little help from the pets in their lives. But Tyler will have his work cut out for him when it becomes apparent that he’s not the only one that wants Leah. Can he protect Leah, and show her that not only is he worth fighting for, but they are?
*************************
Catching Him was an okay read for me. I enjoyed Tyler and Leah’s romance, but felt other parts of the story didn’t pack the punch they should have. I love Leah. She’s smart, funny, knows what she wants, loves her family, stands up for what she believes in, and follows that through with action. She was cute and funny, and a heroine I’d want to be friends with. Tyler was all the best parts of an alpha male. He knew what he wanted and went about getting it or rather her. He was strong, possessive, and protective. He inserted himself in every aspect of Leah’s life as he could, and I loved how he did it. Not pushy or overwhelming, but just there. As a couple, they were adorable and fit perfectly. My absolute favorite part of the book was their meet-cute. You just can’t beat a hilarious case of breaking and entering while half dressed or the mischievous cat. This isn’t a long book, so it’s difficult to make a relationship seem anything other than insta-love, but ARR did it. I loved that despite the immediate zing between them, their relationship progressed steadily and smoothly. They had chances to get to know each other and find a friendship before taking it to the romantic level. That said, I’d never give up that romantic level. It was steamy and sweet. The chemistry only grew the more they were together, and the more emotion they felt toward each other. Overall, this was a great start to a new rom-com series. It’s an easy, light read with a small element of suspense. While I’m happy the romance took center stage, there was enough that happened, that I wish the suspense part was fleshed out a bit more. Was it good without that? Yes. I just think the conclusion would have made a bigger impact if it wasn’t so easily solved, and off-page at that. Secondary cast was great. I loved Leah’s family. They had such a wonderful relationship and while Tyler’s had that as well, it wasn’t as prevalent because of proximity or lack thereof. Chrissy was a fantastic best friend, and I’m looking forward to learning more about her in her book. I was a little disappointed with how Heather’s storyline ended. I was hoping we were leading up to another storyline idea, but it seemed to be solved off-page as well, with no hints at becoming its own story. That said, if you’re looking for a quick escape from reality with a swoony alpha and strong woman, this is the book for you. You won’t regret falling into this world for a bit or meeting the strong, sweet, funny characters that exist within it.
This one might be a freebie in KU, but I had a kindle coupon and this is the one that sounded the best. And I was right! This was funny and sweet with good pacing a just a hint of a mystery! Throw in two cute small towns and a great ensemble cast, you will enjoy this one! Happy Reading!
Love the bond between them both and the animals
I LOVE when I discover a new to me author whose book sucks me in and has me swiping page after page, only to discover there are no more pages….. that’s how I know I’ll be reading more from this author! This book was fun, sexy, lighthearted and had me so entranced with these characters I didn’t want their story to end! I’m so excited to start the next book in this series!
I liked this book for a couple of reasons, there wasn’t a lot of angst, and sometimes I need a book that just doesn’t have that. It’s a quick read, and their love story is quite sweet. Tyler isn’t your typical Alpha you are used to reading about, he’s a bit softer that what I’m more accustomed too, but it works for Tyler and Leah’s story. They have great chemistry, there’s some mystery in the story which is a nice side story. This is a great book that will just have you smiling throughout.
There were cute pets, a entertaining and awkward first meeting, and great chemistry between the characters. This is a book that is low angst and the characters are dedicated to making things work…which isn’t easy with some trouble thrown their way. Good cast of supporting characters that will hopefully get their own books.
Ok so I don believe that A double R can do no wrong!!! And I am honestly very upset with myself that I hadn’t read this book yet!!!! I always read an arc or as soon as its available. I can only think that it must have all happened in the middle of one of my MS/FIBRO flares and the bad one I had last year. It’s the only way it would have slipped by me!!! And let me tell you I love her books and this one is no different. With her over the top Alphas and her strong female leads. And everything that happens in between is absolutely perfection. That’s all I can say about her books!!!! Absolute perfection from the first word to the last word!!! Buy her books you will not be disappointed!!!! -By Tina
I love anything by ARR!
Tyler and Leah are hilarious! Their first time meeting was great. I was sucked in from the beginning. Tyler and Leah both know what they want and it’s a great story of them getting just that. There is banter, crying, happiness, steamy scenes and more!
It had the feel of her Until Series so it made the book even better.
What a great start to the new How to Catch an Alpha Series. This is an entertaining read with characters you will fall in love with. Catching Him has the perfect mix of love, passion and humour, it will captivate you and draw you in from the very first page.
Leah and Tyler think they are destined to stay single, they have both tried relationships without success but the attraction they feel for each other is intense but will they be prepared to take a chance and try love one more time ……
A perfect romance that has me swooning, smiling and giggling and if you are looking for a sweet feel good love story look no further than Catching Him.
I actually have read plenty of ARR’s books before trying the How to Catch an Alpha series.
Obviously her Until series is quite popular, so I have to admit I had high hopes when it came to her new series.
But alas, I’ve got to say if you read the synopsis of this book then you have literally read the entire book.
There isn’t much conflict with the story, and what little there was with the “bad” guy I saw coming a mile away.
I didn’t exactly understand why Leah couldn’t just pull up her big girl panties and just tell Chris that she didn’t want to go out with him, especially if he texted her after her and Tyler started their thing.
All in all, I was disappointed. Like I said in the beginning of this review, if you read the synopsis, you have read the book.
