Wyatt Forrester is a soldier. One of the best. But when a mission went wrong, and he lost a close friend, he went home to clear his head. His beautiful and meddlesome best friend Penny wants to help him remember who he was. She makes a list of every dumb thing they did that last summer after high school and they’re going to work their way through it. But at the end of that long-ago summer, he … end of that long-ago summer, he asked her to be his, and she turned him down. This time, will they have a different ending?
Penny Edgecombe was a wild teenager, but that’s behind her. Her life is focused on raising her five-year-old son and running the Ferns and Friends gardening center.
Her mom would like her to find a boyfriend or—better yet—a husband, but Penny isn’t interested. Her parent’s marriage was terrible and she’s not going to repeat their mistakes. She keeps her relationships light and easy, never letting anyone get close.
The only man she’s ever let into her heart is Wyatt, and they’re only friends. But her list pushes their friendship into passionate territory and she has a hard time not dreaming of their relationship lasting longer.
Penny thought she was the one helping Wyatt, but maybe he will be the one to help her open her well-guarded heart.
They both have to confront the ghosts in their pasts. Then they have to decide if they’re brave enough for the greatest adventure of all—true love.

Wyatt is back home after his last mission went horribly wrong. He’s jumpy, suffering from PTSD, and isn’t comfortable in his own skin. And then there’s his best friend, Penny. She’s determined to help him and he’s not sure he’s able to stop her. But will long dormant feelings flare up while she’s helping him?
I love Wyatt and Penny’s story. They have loads of chemistry, and their evolution from friends to more is seamless. I am looking to much more from Magnolia Valley.

Wyatt is a Marine recovering from a mission that had gone wrong overseas. His best friend Penny has devised a way she believes will help him recapture some of the light in his life. This is a story of enduring friendship. It shows a love that’s unselfish and unspoiled. Penny loves her son. Her and Wyatt are also friends first and then lovers second. They depend on each other and will do anything for each other. It is a well written story that will be a delightful read.
This is a well written and heart-warming friends to lover’s romance with lot of hot steam and great characters.
There were a few hints as to which couple would bet their story.
A great read

The most unforgettable reads are the ones that target the heart. Cora Reed is a sharp shooter when it comes to emotional reads. My head and heart become a playground of love whenever I step into her world. Catching Her Wild Heart is a breathtaking blend of heartwarming and heartbreaking. Wyatt and Penny are in the midst of finding their individual center after enduring some traumatic events. A wounded soldier, haunting by a grieving heart and a single mom doing her best to survive. There’s a bit of Penny and Wyatt in every one that’s what makes for a relatable story.
This is my first Magnolia Valley book, but I will be reading the rest of the series.
Wyatt and Penny were so good together. They had more than chemistry. They seemed to have a true connection, and a deep friendship. I loved the way they communicated with the chin touches.
Wyatt and Penny always had each other’s back. Even with Wyatt dealing with the demons from his last mission, and Penny’s concerns about her music and her family, they managed to prop each other up.
I don’t know if there was something referenced in an earlier book that had to do with Penny’s family, but you had to wonder what happened to make them so unpleasant.
I really enjoyed Wyatt’s interactions with Bass. I was also happy to get not only a HEA, but an epilogue too. 4.5 stars
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book received from Hidden Gems.
This was a very emotional book to read. It’s a little bit of a second chance, but at the same time it isn’t. It’s definitely best friends to lovers. I had already begun to fall in love with Wyatt in the previous books. Just by how much he was loved by his friends and family, I could tell he was going to be a special hero to read about. But then, my heart has always had a soft spot for a military hero. It hurt my heart to witness the ways he wasn’t dealing with his PTSD and survivor’s guilt. Penny was a little harder for me to pin down. I couldn’t understand how she could allow her family to treat her the way they do, especially in front of her son. And, maybe it came from having seen the situation from the other side first, while I could intellectually understand her anger at her father, the depth of her emotions caught me by surprise. I loved watching Wyatt and Penny realize their love for one another, even though they frequently made me want to knock their heads together. I can’t wait to come back and see what else has been brewing in Magnolia Valley.

When Wyatt Forrester was 18, he asked his best friend Penny Edgecombe to join him when he got out of boot camp but she said no so they went their separate ways. Over a decade later, Wyatt and and Penny are back home and Wyatt accepts that they can never be more than friends. That is, until Penny dares Wyatt to kiss him, and after a hot kiss, Wyatt needs more. Penny may be avoiding Wyatt after that kiss but he’s going to get her to admit she wants him and quite a bit more. Will Wyatt get a second chance at love with Penny?
Catching Her Wild Heart is a fun, sweet and steamy story that will have you cheering for the hero and heroine to get together
Wyatt is a veteran who is broken. Penny is his best friend. When he comes home after a mission that went horribly wrong, he isn’t himself. He has guilt, anxiety and he can’t sleep. Penny vows that she is going to help him find who he was before he enlisted.
He acts like he doesn’t want what everyone else has, but he does, he just doesn’t think he deserves it. Throughout the book you learn that both of them want their friendship to be more. He doesn’t want to push it because he doesn’t want to be turned down again. She doesn’t bring it up because she thinks she lost her chance.
When they can’t deny it any longer, they finally take the next step, but agree it won’t be something serious. When a misunderstanding brings everything they were building crumbling down, it is up to them to build it back up. Bass has a huge roll in both the crumbling and the rebuilding of their relationship.
I really liked how Penny understood his PTSD wasn’t something that would be easily worked through. I also liked how they knew each other so well that they could tell when something was off. Relationships, even friendships, are hard work and they put the time and effort into it. I was extremely glad with the resolution to Bass’ part of the storyline.
Magnolia Valley and the townspeople seem to get better with each book. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.
