What happens when you suddenly get everything you ever wanted? First, you don’t believe it’s real. Then you want more… forgive me if I was a bit skeptical when Chance Wyrick asked me to be his boyfriend. That sort of thing just doesn’t happen in real life.
Sure, he has only shared his secret with me. And yeah, we’ve been fooling around for a few weeks. But again, let’s be honest, who else does he have to fool around with? He has to keep his secret. I’m safe. I’m just the first guy he’s ever fooled around with.
I’ve been in love with him for almost as long as I can remember. I’ve fantasized about what it would be like to be his boyfriend. So, when he asked, of course I said yes. It doesn’t matter that he’s not out. It doesn’t matter that it has to be secret. It doesn’t matter that I have to pretend. All that matters is that he asked me to be his boyfriend and that I said yes.
That’s what I was thinking the day Chance Wyrick asked me to be his boyfriend. Everything was fine until it wasn’t. Everything was fine until I wanted more …
Catching Chance is the second book in the Gilcrest University Guys series. It’s a full-length, “friends to lovers” romance novel. It has “coming out” and “first-time gay” themes, is stocked full of STEAM, heartache, and laughter, and it has a guaranteed happily ever after ending. The series will follow the love stories of four college friends. Catching Chance is the second of two books that concludes Andy and Chance’s love story. It can be read as a standalone, but if you want to follow Andy and Chance’s journey from the beginning, start with Book One, Chasing Chance. Look for book three, Resisting Rein (Cam’s story), to come out early this summer!

There are no other words than I loved it. While the first book that introduced you to Andy and Chance, leaving some subplots open and made you curious, this book ties everything up in a bow and gives you a wonderfully compelling story that I couldn’t put down.
M.E. has created a world where the people are so vibrant and multi dimensional that you would love to know them in real life. Andy and Chance’s relationship takes front and center and while these two men navigate being in a relationship together, and not an out relationship per say, they’re thinking about their future careers and all while pleasing their parents, which seems hard to do for both men while keeping their relationship under wraps because Chance is a football star and well known at their college.
The way the story works out, especially the openness later in the book, made me smile and I couldn’t stop. The love between the two men is evident, but then throw in their friends (I loved Cam and I am so thrilled he’s getting his own book, I can’t wait), the football team, and their relationship with the community around them, and the world M.E. created is so tangible and realistic, you want to live there, be friends with them, and be a part of their world.
I can’t recommend both Gilcrest University Guys books enough. You will laugh, cry, and be immersed in a world you will fall in love with. Loved this book!!
After reading the first book in this series I HAD to read the second book so I knew how these two got their happy-ever-after. I’m glad I did. The entire book was an emotional roller coaster ride that I’m glad I stepped onto. I seriously didn’t want to put this book down. I laughed, I swooned, I even cried a bit. I felt like I was living life right along with these two handsome men. I fell in love with not only them but all of their close friends too. I’m hoping there are more books in this series, especially a book for Cam (though I am curious about Ben’s football player hookup!). If you want a sweet coming out M/M book then this will be right up your alley. It’s definitely worth the read. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*
5 stars for Catching Chance by M.E. Parker. This is book 2 in The Gilcrest University Guys. Andy and Chance are together at least in private. Andy isn’t sure if he is right for Chance even though he loves him. He just isn’t sure he can handle not being a couple out in the open. Chance is still struggling with coming out. He is worried because he is the quarterback , and his dad is the pastor. They love each other but is love enough. “I’ve been chasing you my whole life, I’m smart enough to know that I’ll never catch you.” There is some drama in this book and also some sweet spots. I will say I love Cam and Travis. I really hope Cam gets his own book . This book is an inspiration for all couples not just those that are gay. I absolutely loved it.
This is the second book in the Gilcrest University Guys series, and it continues the story about Andy and Chance. And just like the prequel, this story is awesome.
The first book is about Andy’s and Chance’s way back to each other. The second portrayes the struggle of being different from the norm, and the untenable situation of trying to fit in by denying who you are. It’s heartrending and utterly engaging. I laughed and I cried and I got all moody when I finished Catching Chance because I wanted more of them.
I’m eagarly awaiting the next installment about Andy’s room mate Cam. But unfortunately I haven’t found the publishing date yet.

I absolutely love Chance and Andy’s story. I fell in love with them in book one and the continuation of their love story in book two was even better. Telling Andy that he is gay and asking him to be his boyfriend should have been a happy moment in Chance’s life but coming out to your bigoted father, a football team that might not support you and friends that might walk away seems to be a hurdle that he must cross. Will his teammates be supportive? Will his father ever love him again? Will Andy be the only friend he ends up with? This story had it all. So many emotions it felt like being on a roller coaster, secrets and drama revealed that I never saw coming, and such fantastic storytelling from M.E. Parker. This was a fabulous read and I cannot wait for the next book in the series.
Chance and Andy are coming to terms with Chance’s big ILY. Will Andy actually believe it? And if he does, will he be willing to stay a secret until (if) Chance decides to come out?
They’ve got a long road ahead of them, though, to make it to their happily ever after. There’s the matter of how Chance’s team will take his coming out, should it ever happen. And there’s the biggest obstacle, and the whole reason Chance ghosted Andy way back when – Chance’s bigoted, pastor father.
I liked Catching Chance a lot more than I liked Chasing Chance. It’s more well-rounded, and Chance and Andy actually make a great couple. They’re sexy together and you can feel their love through your Kindle. I admit to shedding a tear or two at the end, too, at how everything went down. It was sweet and lovely to see them together and so in love. Now I’m anxiously awaiting Cameron’s story (Resisting Rein).
