Catching Callie is my first book by author Claire Woods and if Gabe and Callie’s story is any indicator, it won’t be the last.
Gabe’s an upcoming senior at UVA when he’s thrown into a media entanglement after being accused of cheating… on the football field as well as off of it. His exam results are being questioned as well as his last year of being a student and his hopes of being drafted to the NFL. To save him from outside pressures he’s sent to a small beachside to to get his act together. Gabe first meets Callie when he almost runs her over, they have words then Callie runs away, then later during a midnight swim they cross paths again. They share a blindingly hot moment before Callie yet again runs off.
But Gabe is determined. This hot stud isn’t one to give up easily, even when he doesn’t even know the girl’s name. She wants a chase? She’ll get one. He’s not the college star athlete for nothing. This is a race he can’t not win.
Callie has a lot to contend with. Busy dad, sick mom, kindergarten aged brother, managing her dad’s two businesses and taking classes at the local University leaves her little time for romantic pleasure. Plus the one and only other time she let a guy steal her heart, she ended up with sand in all the wrong places along with a disillusioned outlook on life.
So, the new guy she just meet can just shove it, she’s not into playing games.
This book had a little bit of everything, crazy exes, family drama, friends supporting each other and all the stress of becoming famous. There is a lot of emotional heartache as Callie and Gabe find their way in life. I cried, I laughed, then cried so more but in the end it was all worth it.
Gabe was a super hot, swoon-worthy hero who always knew what he wanted. Sweet and romantic at times and with the right confidence to make Callie is girl for life.
Callie was barely out of her teens when she first bumped into Gabe, he was a lot for her to take in, but this strong, yet cagey woman was more ready for the man in her life than she knew. Her responsibilities and selfless heart were a bit of a stumbling block at times but at the end of the day, she knew that all she really needed was love.
Just like we all do.

Callie has a lot of responsibilities and Gabe has a woman, from his not too far past, who has her sights set on revenge.

This story is full of drama, romance and heart ache. Callie has a lot going on. Her mom is going through a medical trauma. That leaves Callie in charge of the family business over the summer. along with worrying about her mother and working, she must also start classes. She has put off school to help out her family. The last thing Callie needs and wants is more drama. In crashes Gabe. He needs an escape. The press is on his back and his career is on the line. He has been accused of cheating on and off the field. Gabe is adorable and hard to resist. there are a lot of things in the way of these two. Can they weave their way through the press and an vindictive ex? The story will make you smile, make you sad and give you a great HEA.

Melt your heart, ball your eyes out, heart felt story

Where do I begin?! Claire Woods is a new to me author and wow just wow! This story was everything, from hilarious, to witty, to downright romantic and a damn tear jerker! . I enjoyed this book so much and it touched me dearly. Gabe Parker is EVERYTHING! Callie Anderson is a fiery siren who brings Gabe to his knees. Their different worlds collide and form a magical love so unbound you’ll wish it was you! I recommend this book to any and all who love a good story

This is a well written sweet story with nice story line and plot. Well described characters that develops through the story. Unexpected twists and amazing chemistry.
The story is written in dual POV which gives the reader a lot more of the feelings and thoughts of the main characters and pull the reader more into it.
Sometimes I find the author are a bit unrealistic in the scenes and description of personal things. That ruined it a bit for me.
But it is captivating and an enjoyable read that I can recommend to others.

This author created a great plot with wonderful characters. She is strong (awesome). He is an alpha male. I loved how the plot played out. I was thoroughly engaged in the story. I did feel that the ending was rushed because I wanted to stay with the characters and keep on reading.

While he’s trying to keep his nose clean to save his tarnished career, Gabe meets Callie. Selfless and careful with her heart, the last thing she is looking for or wants in her life is a “love em and leave em” guy… but Gabe isn’t giving up. This was an emotionally charged story wound up in a HEA that will leave you satisfied. This is my honest review of a voluntarily read ARC

I loved the breath and depth of these characters. The troubles that make them who they are. The determination that makes them fight for what they need and want in love and life.

Callie and Gabe light things up in so many ways. Their friends, family, and community show them often how much they love and support them. The path to their future is so uncertain.

This book really hits all the bells and whistles for me.

Gabe is so close to achieving his dream. He just needs to finish college and wait to be drafted for the NFL. And then it all hits the fan. There’s a scandal and for some reason he’s at the center of it, labeled a dirty player. Gabe knows he’s innocent but instead of being able to prove it, he’s forced into hiding to wait it out. It’ll die down, this stuff always does when the next big thing hits. For Gabe though, that comes a lot sooner than he’d planned and in an entirely different way. That next big thing is in fact Callie, a woman he bumps into and can’t stop thinking about.

Callie has no interests in tourists and even though Gabe is sexy, she also has a feeling he’d break her heart without any qualms and she doesn’t have time for that. She has too much on her shoulders already. Okay, so she may use those responsibilities to hide from certain things, such as commitment or the man she can’t help but want. His real life is scary and she isn’t sure it’s something she could ever live with.

Gabe knows Callie is different, special, and wants to get to know her. But Callie is proving elusive. And the thing is, she isn’t playing hard to get, she’s literally trying to get away. Gabe’s heart has already decided that Callie is the one for him, he just needs to convince her of that. Oh and clear his name and protect them both from a vengeful ex.

Can Gabe prove his love to Callie? Can he clear his professional name while putting his heart on the line? What happens when an ex makes her presence known and tries to destroy what he’s building with Callie? Is a HEA possible?

He didn’t fight it. He was all in from the beginning. Callie, however, was the opposite. She wanted Gabe but was scared. I like that he had to prove himself, his feelings, to her. His success as a football player and potential future in the NFL was a detriment in this scenario. Callie wanted to stay away because of it as opposed to how most would handle it and readily attach themselves to him because of it. It showed that Callie wanted Gabe for who he was, not what he could do. And for Gabe, by having to work to win Callie over, it showed how deeply he felt for her.- By Elizabeth
