Those that know me, know this is a rarity, I finish 99% of the books I start but I couldn’t go on with this one. And I really don’t even know where to start to explain why, but here goes….
Firstly, the writing is poor, I thought it might have been a debut novel, but apparently not. Not only did the writing feel juvenile, but so did most of the characters. They were forced which makes it hard to find a connection with them. And a few of the female characters were slut shamed right off the bat which I wasn’t comfortable with. The heroine was put on a pedestal of doing no wrong and is a fantastic, wonderful, gorgeous and strong woman with no faults, so basically unrealistic and the hero only “dates” to be social? Where in the world is that normal? And someone needs to explain to this author how to include a transgender character without being offensive, it was a disaster.
The storyline it self could have been good, or what I got up to, but because everything felt placed and perfectly fitting, it was like watching a B grade movie and predicting what was going to happen next. Nothing grabbed me, and nor did I care at this point if they got their HEA, so it was time to stop. I do always try and finish a book because most characters have some personal growth, or learn a lesson of some sort but these two main characters had nowhere else to go. Totally boring and not worth getting.
Catching Caden was such a sweet story with a bit of sass and an excellent plot line. I love the guys all together and it is so sweet how Caden just has to take care of Murphy after hitting her with a home run ball. It’s so funny how she is clueless about baseball and he just can’t get enough of her. A fun read with enough story line and angst to give you a great story line.
I listened to Catching Caden. Erin Mallon and Zach Webber give stellar performances as always.
This book was the first book by Samantha that I read. It is great! It’s funny, inspirational, heartbreaking well. You will smile, laugh, cry possibly even scream at the characters (because of the situation there in). I love how her characters are all connected in the majority of her books, it gives them a realistic aspect to it.
This book is emotional, and sweet and all the things a good romance book should be. I really enjoyed it!
love the book
Caden’s homerun ball shattered Murphy‘s face, along with her modeling career. It is Caden’s mission to help Murphy rebuild her life. He wants her to love the game that she hates. That game dictates Caden’s life on and off the field. When the lines of their friendship become blurred, Caden is worried Murphy will be another casualty of his three strikes rule. He has that rule to protect his money, future and heart. No girl has ever broken it, and he has never wanted one to until now. – This is a wonderful sports romance. Caden and Murphy are both sweet and caring. They have a good friendship that grows into a great romance. Their time together is full of tender moments. I enjoyed Caden’s relationship with his baseball teammates and Murphy’s relationship with her mom and Caden’s sister. Caden and Murphy are better together.
Loved this book from the very start!
A really sweet story! Murphy is on the wrong end of one of Caden’s baseball shots. This leads initially to friendship but then so much more. They have to deal with crazy fans, psychotic exes and learning to make the most of family.
Loved story line and enjoyed the baseball; the health aspect and the love story.. all around very enjoyable read
Loved this book! I It was a refreshing story and I loved how the characters started out slowly with their relationship as friends and how they kept telling themselves that is all they would be. This book was perfect- the characters, angst, sexy, honesty. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
Samantha Christy is one of my ABSOLUTE favorites!
And “Catching Caden” is right up there with one of my top five favorite books!!!
Samantha Christy is such a talented writer and the world she creates and carries on throughout all her books is beautiful!
“Catching Caden” is sweet, powerful, so romantic, and special. Caden and Murphy are two people that you can’t help but fall for each of them instantly.
This is such a great book, a great series, and a great author! Read, read, read ANYTHING Samantha Christy, and READ CATCHING CADEN. You will be so glad you did!
Really enjoyed this book. It was hard to put it down.
Probably one of my favorite books by this author. I love the entire series. You won’t go wrong with a Samantha Christy book.
Love these characters! Great chemistry between them and great overall story. Samantha Christy has a gift for creating great stories with likable characters. Caden is one of my favorite male protagonists she’s created.
Quick read! Captivating and very well written. Got me hooked and read the whole series.
Out of the park!
This was my first book by the author, but it definitely won’t be my last. I could tell that the supporting characters had stories of their own, and I can’t wait to read them! (And a possible future love story for Irene, please!) I loved how our couple moves from strangers to friends to so much more. The story has good guys, sleaze balls, lost souls, forgiveness, backstabbers, and, of course, a happily ever after!
I liked this story. Gives people beliefs in overcoming the odds. She has had some bad luck. Crappy boyfriend, horrible friends and roommates and then loses her job after getting hit in the face by a home run ball. Caden is drawn to her front he start. Genuine and down to earth. They are adorable friends. They just mesh. Then they are even better when they realize their feelings are beyond friendship. I get that she needed to be mad at someone but that anger should have solely been on Tony. Such a d*ck. Caden was just trying to help and protect her. But her need to protect herself and be independent had her hashing out at him.
Really good book the characters are great. How they meet and end up together is original. Would recommend!!
Enjoyed reading this author.
