An enjoyable series.
After reading the first book Catching a Vampire, I dove right into book 2. The ending of book 1 made me curious to see how things would progress. In Catching a Wizard main character Daphne is trying to win back Heath, who after a misunderstanding isn’t speaking to her anymore. Then there are two other boys who are interested in her as well and the family spell they’re looking for.
Just like the first book it’s a fast spaced smooth read. There is a bit of teenage drama with the multiple possible romances and guys who are interested in Daphne, but I found it felt realistic and wasn’t too much. I also liked how Daphne handled it all, never leading any of the guys on and being honest with them about where they stood, I liked that.
It was interesting to see the search continue for the spell they’re looking, there is an interesting twist related to that at the end and I am curious to see how that gets resolved. The ending is kinda abrupt again and I would advice to just pick up the box set as so far the series reads more like one long book. The endings each time do make me curious for the next book, so that part is definitely working.
I was surprised there wasn’t much about the teacher in book 1 that seemed to have taken a strong dislike to Daphne as I thought there would be something up with that, but maybe that gets revealed in book 3.
I like Daphne as main character and how she handled everything thrown her way. I like how her behavior feels mature even though she’s a teenager and I liked how she handled things. It was fun to see the romances develop. It’s still not a harem and while Daphne is interested in all 3 guys, she makes it clear she only has eyes romantically for Heath at this time. I liked seeing a bit more of the two other guys. I still didn’t like Cade, he’s only jealous so far and I don’t feel like I have a good idea of him. There are some scenes with Bradley and I liked getting to know him better.
To summarize: This was a solid sequel. I liked seeing how everything progressed, from the spell they’re looking for to Daphne’s love life. I like how Daphne is clear with the guys where they stand with her and doesn’t lead them on. This book does show her connection with the two other guys a bit more. I liked seeing a bit more of Bradley as well as seeing how Daphne tried to win Heath back. I am not a fan of Cade so far as he’s mostly jealous and we haven’t seen much of him besides that. There are some interesting developments with the spell they’re looking for and the book ends in the middle of things in a way that makes me curious for book 3.
I really enjoyed this book, the plot focuses on a mysterious hunt for a missing family spell, and the plans of twins Daphne and Ryan to find it. Obviously this isn’t plain sailing, and Daphne’s already run into trouble from Ryan’s games, alienating potential love Heath. The hijinks kept me engrossed to the end and loving every moment, and sad when I finished all too soon, I can’t wait for the next book, hopefully with the same fantastic narrator Kate Richardson.
Catching a Wizard by Laura Greenwood is a slow burn reverse harem academy romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Kate Richardson. This is the second book in the Grimalkin Academy: Catacombs series.
I just love Laura’s books. They always leave me begging for more. The Story does end on a cliffhanger, but that was no surprise since it is part of a series. I can’t wait for the third book Catching a Warlock to be released on audible.
Kate did a great job on the narration. I loved that she used different voice/tones for each character. She really knows how to bring a story to life. I can’t wait to listen to more of her work in the future.

Yet more paranormal drama
I was firstly so happy to see that the Grimalkin Academy books run parallel to each other, as it makes it so much easier to follow (I’ve heard that timelines and planning help a lot!). So there are no spoilers in Mona’s story, as long as you have also been keeping up to date with the progress on that side, too. Any spoilers to be found are minor, anyway, so it shouldn’t spoil reading either way.
Anyway, we are here about Daphne, who is struggling with a troublesome vampire and two warlocks. Suddenly she’s not only caught in the middle of three men after her attention (well, the vampire needs some convincing), but also has to contend with her brother’s continued pressure to find this damned spell!
And, typical for this gang, things aren’t going to go quite as planned…
Final rating: – Really liked

In the second book of the series, Daphne is trying to win Heath back, but also trying to figure out her relationship with Bradley and Cade.
In addition Ryan and Daphne still work on the family spell.
the book is well written, a mix of romance and fantasy-mild thriller.. As a warning – the book ends in a cliff-hanger.
As this is still fairly much at the beginning of the series, one can still understand the story without having read the first book – but having the knowledge makes the book a far better story to read.

I enjoyed this book. Teens and young adults will love this story. Daphne is hurting because Heath found out about what Ryan wants her to do. Ryan still wants her to get a vampire to bring them to the vampire library. She is still struggling with Cade and Bradley liking her. Will she get Heath to understand? What will she do with her feelings for Cade and Bradley? What would happen if she did get someone to bring her to the library? Will they find the spell? Will they get caught if they do? Can’t wait to read the next book.

Catching a Wizard by Laura Greenwood is the second book in the amazing Grimalkin Academy: Catacombs series. In this book, Daphne tries to get Heath the vampire she was previously dating to forgive her. Ryan continues to push Daphne for what he wants and Daphne gets stuck trying to please everyone but herself. I loved this book. Its another wonderful addition to the Grimalkin Academy series. The story is compelling and had me enthralled from the very first chapter. The characters are so engaging that they seem like friends rather than book characters and I’m always eager to find out what happens next. If you are looking for a paranormal academy series you will love, than this is the one. Catching a Wizard is an amazing second installment to this series.
Catching A Wizard is book two in the Grimalkin Academy Catacombs series and picks up where book one left off. Daphne is trying to fix things with Heath but he’s not talking to her. Meanwhile, Ryan is looking for the hidden family spell and keeping secrets at the same time. There’s a lot going on in this book and it’s an entertaining read about life at the Grimalkin Academy filled with teenage drama and humor.
It has been weeks and Heath is still not talking to Daphne Chambers. She really wants to ask him to forgive her and make things right again. Then the professor assigns them as partners in a project. Heath tried to change partners but was not permitted to, so he told her they would communicate only by email and only for this project. As he leaves class, Emma puts her hand around his waist and he makes eye contact with Daphne.
Ryan is still focused on finding the family spell but this time Daphne flatly refuses to “find another vampire” for him. Instead, she tells Ryan to find one himself. The good part about avoiding Ryan is that she can stay away of Cade too. She is still not sure how to act around him since he told her how he feels. Bradley is also still showing his interest in Daphne. She heads for lunch and, as soon as she sees Emma, she spots Heath. Emma again puts her arm around him and this time he shrugs her off and turns around to Daphne. Before the tears can start, she runs out of the cafeteria. But she runs right into Cade and he takes her to her room and makes her tea. Surprisingly, he gives her very good advice to be honest with Heath and tell him everything.
Heath agrees to meet her in the library and she tells him everything. Emma is mentioned and Heath says Emma is pushing him for a serious relationship which is not something he wants, neither with her nor with anyone else. Without thinking, Daphne immediately says she is dating her childhood sweetheart Bradley anyway so it doesn’t matter.
After class, Health asks Daphne to stay behind and tells her he wants to help her get into the private vampire library. Will they find the family grimoire to perform the cat spell that Ryan has been so pushy about? Is the spell even safe? And between Heath, Cade, and Bradley and the change in her relationships with them, she has some serious balancing to bring to her love life! What is in store for her next?
This is another enjoyable book in this series. The characters are outstanding, the dialog is perfect with an occasional touch of humor, and the story line keeps getting more interesting. Grab your copy and enjoy this wonderful book!
Daphne has romantic trouble with 2 Wizards and a Vampire. Heath is still mad two other boys declare there feelings a magic spell and a new set of whiskers what else is going to happen with Daphne. Another cliff hanger more questions and a slow burn romance.

Our heroine is still looking for the family spell, plus trying to make up with the vampire she likes. Does she ever have time for school work?
So this is book twp of a new series at Grimalkin Academy, not to be confused with the other series at the academy where every time the character casts a spell, cats appear. The two story lines are related, but it is not necessary to read the other one to enjoy this one. I do, however, recommend starting at the beginning of this storyline rather than here. That way you will understand what is going on with these characters.
This is a young adult paranormal series that also has a reverse harem theme. The story is well written and easy to read with a plot that is easy to follow, yet has a few unexpected surprises along the way. The characters are well developed and I really like our heroine, although I do wonder about her priorities sometimes. Overall, this was an excellent evening read and I look forward to the next one.
