Finding a good man in a small town has never been so difficult! Perpetually single Maggie Beaumont almost believes that her perfect man is out there waiting for her. With her infamous romantic past–including a failed long-term relationship with her high school sweetheart and a dead-end crush on the new priest, Father Tim O’HalloranÖit’s becoming more and more difficult to picture anyone … anyone rolling into the small town of Gideon’s Cove, Maine, just to sweep Maggie off her feet. So when Father Tim offers to set Maggie up on a series of blind dates, she decides she has nothing to lose and lets him play matchmaker.
After a few bad dinners, including one date who doesn’t even show up, Maggie is ready to give up dating for good. But then romantic salvation appears in the form of sullen local fisherman Malone. Malone has always been dark and silent–not exactly Maggie’s ideal future partner. But as Maggie learns more about this mysterious man, she realizes that there’s a heart of gold underneath his salty exterior, and she wonders if Malone could be a good catch after all.

Catch of the Day is the first romance by Kristan Higgins that I read–but not the last by a long shot! I immediately fell in love with her writing style, not to mention her characters, including those of the canine persuasion. Since then, I’ve read all of her Gideon’s Cove and Blue Heron series books. But this one will always have a place in my …
LOVE this book, from the opening line (Falling in love with a Catholic priest was not my smartest move) to the very end. Kristan Higgins is a master when it comes to writing romance with humor. Nobody does it better.
Anything br Ms Higgins is wonderful!
Just one of my all-time favorites. I periodically just pull it off the shelf and re-read it to refill my well. It’s hilarious–because she’s awkward. And he’s so not charming. But he actually is really charming, and I adore him. (Notice how I’m not saying who “he” is, because you kinda aren’t sure at first). Highly recommend this for a wonderful, …
Kristen Higgins is at her best in this very entertaining story of two unlikely people who meet and fall in love. I have read at least five of her books and this one is my favorite!
My go-to KH book is this one, with one of my top 5 male leads. Beautifully written, this one goes on my keeper shelf.
This was depressing, and I cried like a baby over Colonel, the heroine’s 12 year old Golden Retriever. Do I need to go on? TRIGGER. Let me get this out of the way first.
SPOILER
When we first meet the put upon heroine, she has Colonel with her everywhere, but he’s now an elderly, slow pup like the one in the dog commercial that shows him as a …
There are some books that are comfort reads for me – Maggie and Malone’s story is one of them!
Catch of the Day reminded me so much of that Golden Girl’s episode: Forgive Me, Father. A dating prospect turns out to be a priest, and in the episode it is absolutely hysterical. In Catch of the Day, there are many other elements involved that set this book apart, but also many similarities which made the latter parts fairly predictable for me. …
Awesome book. Awesome writer
